Aurelia Saelari
Knowledge Is Death

The elections were over, the hustling complete. Two people had emerged victorious from the scrum; Senator Alena Beswin of Kuat and Senator Aurelia Saelari of Pylos.
The former was taking the role of Chief of the Senate, handling the passing of laws and such matters. The latter meanwhile was taking on the role of running the machine of state, the administration and finances of the Republic. Both were vital roles, and now it was the time for them to state their positions publically.
Aurelia Saelari never turned down an opportunity for a speech. She lived for them, and for the wheeling and dealing, so as she rose to deliver her speech before the Senate and the People of the Republic, she felt no nerves.
“Chief Beswin, Senators, people of the Republic and our faithful allies. I stand here again, having been called back to service in the ranks of government. As many of you know, I was the first Supreme Chancellor of the Republic in the days when daylight was just breaking again over the galaxy. It was a time of promise, of hope, and through my administration the Republic became a power to contend with.
My term expired, and new beings took the role of Supreme Chancellor. Some did great things with their role, others brought infamy and disgrace to the name. However, we are now faced by new challenges where the old certainties will no longer hold. Thus, the Republic has undergone a change to help give those in their positions the tools they need to fulfil the goals of the Republic. This new system will better allow your representatives to combat the challenges we face effectively.
People of the Republic, make no mistake. We are in a war for the very life of the Republic, of freedom, justice and democracy. Our enemies are strong, and many of those who should aid us instead fail to do so. Instead of standing with us against the darkness they hide behind us, vainly hoping that the Sith will be sated with the death of the Republic. It is not so. The Sith seek the conquest and annihilation of all that is lawful and good, and whilst one threat to them exists they will not stop their onslaught. There are other allies though, or potential allies who should be aiding us, but instead stands aloof, sometimes consorting with the enemy. These too are deluded, for their pride and foolishness will not help them live should the enemy prevail.
To the Protectorate and the Mandalorians, friends in the past, I ask you to stand with us. Together we incorporate those areas which are best and brightest in the galaxy. If any alliance can be found to defeat our foes, they will be part of it.
However, we of the Republic must be prepared to shoulder the weight of war alone. We do not want war, but whilst the barbarians hold our territory we must fight to retake it. Hope is not lost though. The true Jedi under Grandmaster Grayson, and our brave soldiers and sailors have not given up hope, and nor should you. Instead, we should unite now, giving all our assistance to our forces as we seek to drive back the hordes and retake our rightful territory.
To those citizens languishing under Sith internment and tyranny, we will come for you. The Sith will fail, as their order always does. A dozen times the Sith have risen up, and every time they have been destroyed, and it is the Republic, and the ideals of justice and representation which lives on.
Sacrifices must be made, but every credit given and every soldier enlisted is one small step closer to the purging of the Sith and the driving of their wretched order back to the shadows, and this time they will stay there forever!
We will fight the Sith on the space lanes, we will fight them on the landing fields, in our cities and towns. We will fight them until our last breath and we will never surrender!”
