In the Emperor's Name - Aboard the INV Black Reach

INV BLACK REACH
imperial space (coordinates classified)

For many, the INV Black Reach was an enigma: what good would come from having the Inquisitorius based aboard a star destroyer? Would a temple not be more fitting, as opposed to a symbol of Imperial might that could be better used elsewhere? Is it, perhaps, a great advantage to have the ship in the battle, but also a great risk? While the debate went on within the Imperial Navy, few had the status and influence to question the emperor's will, and fewer again were versed in the likes of the force. Yet, for those aboard the INV Black Reach, this debate was a galaxy away.

With a thump and an irritated huff, Luyioth plodded herself down on the bench. Her bruises throbbed, her body having been struck several times by training sabers and stun bolts. She had been in this room for a bit over an hour, working on her precognition with mild success: while she was improving, having moved onto a higher difficulty of training droid program in the past Kaminoan week, she was struggling to catch up to scratch. Beads of sweat ran down of her face as she panted, catching her breath with cheeks flushed red from exercise. Nearby, the training droid stood idly, looking to the recovering initiate while waiting.

The room itself was fairly bleak, albeit sufficient: a would-be vehicle bay converted into a training hall, complete with dividers and resources on hand. The walls shared the same typical bleak gray of a star destroyer as the rest of the ship. Some other initiates went about their routines throughout the hall, from aggressive saber skills to force theory.

Luyioth lifted her head to glare at the droid, her frustration tempting her to lash out at it. As much as she wanted to, she shook the thought out of her head as she reached for her water bottle. For now, she would take some time to rest and reflect on her mistakes; even if the force was best used if dominated and controlled, aspects of the light side served an inquisitor almost as well as the dark.

THE INV. BLACK REACH
3 weeks before incursion

Called upon to teach...least it wasn't combat once again recent days had seen the recently appointed High inqusitor had been called four to the fields time and time again to fight against the enemies of the Empire slicing down great numbers...least so the soldiers said, she was a being of hellfire, a temptress of flames and where her flames spread the enemies of the Empire fell...but that's what the soldiers said

A lamba class shuttle came out of hyperspace, only one would know the location of this ship, men assembled In the hangar as the shuttle landed. The doors opened as anya walked out clad in her armor, a officer quickly came up to meet her

good evening high inquistor Malvern, shall I show you to the...training area that has been set up

yes, after which o do not wish to be disturbed with my students

Her mask made it sound rougher as she was led to go the makeshift area, she waved the officer off as she approachedand stopped hands going behind her back. No doubt with he force signature she would be felt...a first test per say

Varik's boots clinked against the metal floors as he looked at the training saber in his hand. He didn't see the point in such things; if he was going to learn, he ought to learn with the real thing. Did an Inquisitor not have the self-control to hold back from slicing him in half at the first opportunity? He supposed it mattered little. As he approached the training area, he felt two presences nearby; they were easy to identify. He'd heard about the Dakwin's former place after doing some digging of his own, and the High Inquisitor was more noticeable than many. Perhaps they were to meet with her there; the other initiate would soon be on her way as well, he assumed.

Walking towards the presence in a quick and calm manner, he eventually saw her, clearly dressed in more notable robes and uniform; he had recognized her from training and orientation that he'd already had in the past. Not saying anything, Ice simply bowed his head towards her. There wasn't much that he had to say, nothing that would be of importance. Inside, he was feeling very eager to begin, and he didn't attempt to hide it from any who could feel it. He was always seeking to test his abilities, and this was no different.

A presence.

From her position seated on her bench, Luyioth looked up towards the doorway. Idly, she lifted a hand to wipe the sweat off her forehead, letting her cold and now half-empty water bottle pass over it for some relief. While the presence she felt - a beacon in the dark side of the force, no doubt a force user of significant power - was still a ways away, there was another: a certain Initiate Varik Ice. She had met him in passing before: a tribal warlord turned force user, if she recalled correctly; A curious transition, granted, but she was not her better. She could feel the dark in him, much stronger than it is in her, brewing and boiling in the pit of his presence.

Yet, not so distant now, another presence drew Luyioth's attention. As the airlock doors opened, a familiar face strode through: a high inquisitor, no less. As if it wasn't hard enough to miss her presence in the force, her red hair made it more difficult again. Conclusively, Luyioth lifted her water bottle and pressed a last few mouthfuls into her mouth before she capped it and lazily tossed it onto the bench as she stood. Not unlike Varik, Luyioth offered Anya a firm nod; yet, to some contrast, she spoke:
"High Inquisitor Malvern," she began, her breath mostly caught for her to calmly speak: "My thanks for your time. I understand there must be many matters for you to attend to."

Both were here and at attention, good good...she let herself relax but kept he rhands behind her back as she walked towards the middle and then turned to them

many tho he to be done but I can not do unless the inquisitors are up to strength and up to date with their training....for a unprepared force will ultimately be destroyed

She said as she looked between the two then to the training droid as she went up to it and then nodded with a chuckle as she turned

let's begin with a test shall we?

She activated her saber setting it in training mode as that orange glow like fire casted itself upon the room ads she raised the blade in a defense position

attack me

The words came simple and clear

He would agree that practical experience was the best way to test things; this, he supposed, was the closest he could get to it without risking his life. Though he still believed risking his life would be a better teacher for him, regardless. He activated the training saber, the blade a yellow-ish colour as he assumed a ready stance. The form was more clearly Djem So, closer to the Fifth Form, with his stance giving away some elements of the Fourth as well. Preparing himself, the force pooled within him, enhancing his senses and abilities greatly as he moved forward, slashing once at her middle simply to test her guard, quickly pulling away with the saber as another plan came to his head.

Reaffirming his stance, he stood slightly sideface towards her, hoping to minimize himself as a target as he seemed to thrust the training saber forward in a stab before he shifted it to the left, trying to slip it behind her and get a hit in at the back of her thigh; feints were much a part of fighting with regular swords and bladed weapons as they were with lightsabers, and he was extremely familiar with all manner of swords and blades; it was the only weapons he used to have access to.

He had doubts this would work; he was sure she had more experience in this style of weapon and fighting, but defeating the High Inquisitor was hardly the objective here. He expected to be countered or foiled, and learn from how she did so, to develop himself in the art. It was thrilling, in a way. He had never had a proper teacher, and she too would have her own duties to attend to. Perhaps that is what had kept him strong so far; he had learned from himself, up until now.

A little surprised by the command, Luyioth tilted her head towards Varik. To attack another inquisitor, let alone a superior, was a grave offense - yet, she sensed indifference from the others. The more thought she gave it, the more she shared the indifference herself. If it gave the High Inquisitor a platform to start from...

Lifting her right hand up from her side a little, Luyioth's training saberstaff snapped into her hand from her belt. If she recalled correctly, Varik's strength was saber combat - it was hard to miss the rumors, with all that went around about him. To that end, she decided to play the auxiliary. With some gentle shifts from her fingers, a pair of crimson pillars came from either end of the hilt in the hand: they came out more gently on the ears than her actual saberstaff, the kyber crystals being treated more gently than her own bled crystals. With a glance over to Varik before focusing her glare on Anya, she cocked her knees and tilted her saber besides her.

Luyioth took the force with her minds eye - grasping it, forcing it to do as she would will it - and directed it into her cocked legs. She felt her muscles tense and her knees expand, empowered by the flow of the force. If she had to fight her teacher, then she had every intention to demonstrate what she had learned. Projecting the force outwards through the soles of her feet as she pressed forward, bringing a quiet groan from the floor, Luyioth rushed forward by Varik and Anya's right: with her training saber, she twirled it about her as she passed, making an attempt at a glancing strike. Yet, the strike itself wasn't her focus: she intended to get past Anya, where she could turn about and cast an arc of lightning into her back. An attack from both sides: the classic hammer and anvil.

Yet, in the sides of her mind, Luyioth felt her instincts telling her that this wasn't going to work. Regardless, she pressed on: there was much to be learned.

One seemed so eager to attack and got in position, the other seemed hesitate before getting in her own position, already she could tell how each fight least a base. @Varik was aggressive while luyloth seemed to play testing the waters...impressive

But not good enough, him testing the waters simolungot her to move back, eyes determined and trained on the two as she expanded her force out...minus one eye replaced by another. His feint would simply be dodged before her orange blade caught his to block it

She watched luyloth rush to meet her, her saber angled to block varik, she glanced to luyloth and angled her wrist so the blade would meet the corotois gauntlet and glance off. If she couldn't focus on her she would disables weapon of hers, however she felt the air change and quickly rolled...she would not be tricked by that, the lightning would now be heading for varik if he didn't dodge quick enough

There was obvious experience in the way the High Inquisitor moved and blocked attacks. She'd been in this sort of situation before, Ice could see that. Something he'd also grown to understand from all the fighting at home was the importance of positioning; applying pressure to an opponent could be just as lethal as a stab from a lightsaber, in the right circumstances. He saw the lightning heading towards him, but he didn't dodge. He raised his saber, the lightning coursing into it as he held the guard.

He kept the guard high and approached Malvern as he did so. A stray bolt of the lightning coursed his arm, pain travelling through his system; but he kept focus, and was still unusually calm. He couldn't show pain, or even acknowledge it. There would be time for him to do that afterwards, in private. For the time being, he had training to do. Ice kept up his use of Dun Sjem, giving a low slash before immediately following it up with a jab towards the High Inquisitor's thigh. The movements he made were methodical, calculated. He was focusing more on prodding for weaknesses, testing her defense and setting up opportunities for Dakwin.
