EDGE OF REPUBLIC SPACE, UNKNOWN SHADOWPORT

Darkness, darkness all around them and silence filling the darkness.
Many could describe the Space in those words, however, to other few the Space could be described in one simple word
Canvas
A black canvas on which so much could be painted, adventures, dramas, romances, untold stories waiting to be shared on the darkness between white lights of stars.

Poetic notions aside,
Our story is set in one of the shadowports, remote stations floating in this black ocean like oasis to smugglers, wanderers, pirates, and merchants. All manners of creatures and wanderers can be find in places like this. And Sammo was one of them

Aboard the station, the Young in Spirit, a ghostly hostel frigate could be found docked securely in one of the station's sectors, Sammo could be seen marching with a cockney in his step and a smirk on his lips, sparks dancing in his eyes. Adventure was just around the corner, oh, he could feel it.

Sighing Sophia took a step back and took a good look at her ship which wasn't running correctly for some reason. She didn't understand it as she had just replaced the engine. It was brand new and she had even tested it out before heading out. Everything had been good until now on this longer trip. She didn't mind fixing it up but here wasn't exactly a place where she wished to be.

As a former Republic Navy Captain she doubted anybody here would be too keen with helping her out with parts. They could also be out to get her for arresting them or their friends. She was less worried about that though as she had combat training and nothing they could do would compare to what the Sith had done to her. If they wanted to mess with her Sophia had no problem taking them down.

She had heard rumors of shadowports on base but had never been to one until now. Since she was here she might as well have a look around. It could turn out to be really fun at the end of the day and she may meet some interesting people. Sophia may even gather some insighton what to do with her life now.

Toram had been lurking in an alley way near the port entrance. This place was just like all the others and Toram knew from experience on other backwaters that it would most likely be no diffrent. He would go about the rounds pandering his scrap, stop at a local Cantina and be on his way back to his old heap of a ship. There seemed to be no opportunity for a contract in this slum just a quick credit here and there and a drink. However as he quietly lumbered through the silent crowds he couldn't help but notice one peculiarity that was hiding in plain sight at the docks. A sleek and new looking ship of superb build, fairly odd as the ships he ever saw in places like these were old hulks like his own or some Hutt ship...quite peculiar. Maybe there is opportunity here...or quick trouble. Maybe they need a hand with traversing the locality, or possibly this being requires repairs, or an extra-deck hand, "No too risky, they may as well know my identity as the cruel Skakoan scientist who's experiments always go awry", Toram thought too himself. It was back too the docks, back to his ship where it was safe for him.

"Having trouble with your ship?"
Asked a voice from behind Sophia, in the doorway would be the aging figure of a tall man in classical Jedi knight's robes, smirking in her direction, glancing over the ship which she brought with her, giving out a while
"Wow, now that is a something, mademoiselle."
He stepped closer, giving a larger grin
"Such a shiny ship, must be a Republic official of sorts, you lot love to show off your toys."
He chuckled, glancing to the ship once more
"For better or for worse, you know, plenty of ruffians in these parts, oui."

After beating a hasty retreat, Toram found himself wanting instead of going to the ship, he decided to just sit in one of the Sabacc dens in the cantina and relax. Toram sat down near one of the darker corners of the den where no one would notice him, knowing all to well the reputations of these places, it was for the best. As he sat and relaxed his mind kept straying to that ship he had seen earlier, so sleek and polished, it seemed to bring back memories. It reminded him of his time when he used to work in the driveyards above Kuat and he had recalled building ships nearly similar in design, it was possibly a newer version of the type he had built and helped design. Its been years since he last had work from the Republic, not since the then and the incident on Subterell when he had been forman of a Republic sponsored mine and settlement. Many had perished and the settlement failed, due in part to his faulty-mining mechs that he had designed had malfunctioned, causing mayhem. But that was three decades ago, would anyone remember? Now his old thoughts sprouted again! What if the Republic had been tracking him and his ship and that Republic cruiser and whoever piloted it was out for him! Toram could have sworn he had seen a Jedi about as well. There were three choices available then, take his chances with the possible Republic pilots giving him new work and adventure, continue to lye low or finally make a break for it back to Houll aboard his ship.

Spinning around Sophia laughed a little as he stated that she was apart of the Republic. She was no such thing anymore but he didn't have to know that she used to be. "The Republic? Me? That's funny. I do like my shiny toys though but mine is much better than any officers. I am having engine trouble though but nothing I can't fix. I was thinking of taking a look around this place first. Want to join me?"

He looked harmless for the moment and if he turned out to be different well she could take care of herself.

Sammo raised his eyebrow with a smirk as he stepped forward
"Funny? Well how surprising to find a member of the Republic with a sense of humor nowadays, especially so far out in their territory."
He cast a glance over her ship again
"And it is true, much better than any officer's I have seen so far, not many are available to civilians. And if you would have so much funds to purchase one, I doubt you would be stuck in a port like this, alone."
He looked back to Sophia and gave her a grin
"So, you are either an operative and you should fetch quite a nice sum in Republic's enemies.."
He gave Sophia a wink
".. Or you are running from the Republic and nobody will care."

Sammo then stepped forward offering out his hand to her
"Either way, my name is Sammo, the Wanderer as most call me."
He shrugged slightly
"I often wander."
He smirked once more, he smiled often
"And I would love to join you, mademoiselle."

"I enjoy exploring myself even if I do have the credits for this thing. I actually tinkered with it quite a bit to make it do exactly what I want. I'm a mechanic of sorts, names Sophia. It's nice to meet you. I have never been in one of these places before so I thought it would be fun."

She smiled turning back to the ship for a moment before turning back and walking past him. "Coming," she grinned turning for him to follow her. She didn't know where she was going in here. She was very hopeful that he knew more about this place than she did. Which wouldn't be hard as she knew nothing.

He stepped up his pace in order to walk in front of her and turned back to look on her while he kept ahead of her by walking backwards, hopefully he did not bump into anybody!
"Well it's not like these places have too much traffic or are too fancy, plenty people come here to not be notice, miss Sophia."
He smiled to her
"There's Bounty Hunters' Guild offices around here somewhere, there usually are, but I don't suppose you're too much into that sort of business."
He looked to her
"No offense, but you don't look like the sort to be running around trying to capture people."
He grinned and gave her a wink, glancing somewhere off to the side
"I often stop in Shadowports, I offer moving service, more or less, you see."

@[member="Sammo Hache-Khe of Rae"]

"Oh no, I wasn't hoping to find anything fancy here. I'm used to fancy things and being comfortable. I'm not really hiding here just trying to fix the ship. Still there is nothing wrong with seeing how the other side lives and what goes on here. It might help me in my next quest."
Sophia wasn't sure what the next step she would take now was but the young woman wasn't that worried. She was young and had plenty of time to figure out where she belonged in the galaxy. She was going to take this opportunity to explore the galaxy outside of her home which used to be the Republic. This guy seemed interesting and harmless so perhaps he could help her not be so native.
"I'm not the bounty hunter type but a very good friend of mine is so I know a little about that. The only thing I worry about there is having my name on the list of wanted subjects. What sort of things do you move around? Supplies and that?"

"Actually, I move people and information."
He smiled to Sophia stopping by one of the balconies of the station that overlooked the foot traffic and hangars below.
"I am captain of a sort of mobile hostel and broadcasting station."
He glanced to her with a smirk
"Often sending out transmissions about the hyperlane traffic, pirate raids, or blockades, you know, so that others could travel in increased safety."
He looked back to the hangars from the balcony
"And the hostel is for other travellers who do not exactly have a ship, they can come and go as they please, many of them often know each other."
