Across the Outer Rim there was a wave of devastation that could not be explained. Rianna was asked to investigate and report back. They chose a small nearby planet the name of which did not seem to appear on a map it was merely a location identified by numbers and decimals. They would land and she would take a pod to out to look at what had happened and if it were reversible.
As they descended she looked out the viewport she could see a city rising up from the flatness of the plains, the blacked plains it could easily be the Netherworld again.
The landing put them about a mile from the city. The ramp of the ship dropped down slowly revealing to the trained eye of the healer a landscape that offered no life. Everything for as far as the eye could see was dead and as black coal, not a single blade of green grass stood. It was as if a nuclear weapon with a single hot blast had wiped everything out. This was the most devastation she had seen since the zombie virus had wiped out millions.
As she stepped off the ramp, the ground gave way with a crunch, no water no moisture of any kind had touched this earth in sometime. It was as if the planet itself were dying.
She hoped that in the distant city that there she would find some sign of life, some trickle of hope.
