In Glades Beneath the Misty Fell

Location: Onderon
Blackthorne Beastiary

Ultimatum arrived aboard the Fate at the space port. It was a busy city, not unlike a few of the other planets that Ultimatum had visited. He had of course the proper paperwork, he was allowed through security, for once, without being scanned and checked over for concealed weaponry. He had sent an order through the HoloNet wishing to purchase the services of the Beastiary in order to collect some creatures. It was convenient that the first of these creatures could be found in the system. It would hopefully make an easy beginning to the hunt.

Or at least he hoped it would lead to a hunt, he had to talk out the details with the owner of the company. Thus he arrived on Onderon for that reason, to come to a deal and perhaps get to work on a long list of creatures he was hoping to have captured. He found his way to the building and waited inside to be called. He looked forward to this.

"Lord...Ultimatum..." a man spoke from a nearby stone archway - tall and lithe of build with a short shock of platinum blond hair and keen golden eyes, "the Beastia will see you now, follow me."

Clients and customers of the Beastiary never met the Beastia directly except in certain rare instances of great importance. Ultimatum was not on her list of priority peoples of the galaxy, but his list of priorities had caught her attention nevertheless. Such a large and varied request could not be undertaken by just anyone and certainly the Beastia would not entrust just anyone to fully understand the difficulties involved.

"I am Volden, I will be speaking for the Beastia in this meeting," the man leading Ultimatum introduced himself as he stopped before another open archway and motioned inwards, "after you."

Blackthorne did not rise from her seat at the head of a small stone table when the client entered, but remained settled as if made of stone. Pale eyes the color of bleached jade followed him unblinking with an expression as intense and friendly as an incoming avalanche.

"Beastia Blackthorne, Lord Ultimatum," Volden gave a curt bow as he then motioned for Ultimatum to choose a seat at the table.

Ultimatum bowed to Volden and Blackthorne. He took a seat across from Blackthorne saying, "Thank you for being willing to see me about the list of creatures I am looking into."

He looked to Volden as he spoke, uncertain as to who to direct his statements. There was much that he would have said, but he understood the need for control at this moment. He was dealing with an unknown organic and thus he had to take it one step at a time. He wondered what the Beastia was thinking, she seemed to be about as friendly as Mustafar was hospitable. He wondered how busy she was, this business would definitely have a draw of attention. How many requests did they get in a standard month he ask himself.

Probably quite a few. That meant that he should be honored by this. That was, if this Blackthorne truly cared or if this was standard. He knew that some organizations liked to keep a general appearance of unique treatment to each customer, others ran theirs through as quickly as possible. He wondered where this business woman fit in.

"It is an extensive list," Volden said again, directing [member="Ultimatum"]'s attention back to him. The man produced a datapad from an inner pocket of his outer robes and engaged the device, "two zakkeg, two maalraas, one terentatek, if I remember correctly...ah, yes. Hmm..." the man rubbed at his cleanly shaven chin, giving a glance back to the Beastia. No words were uttered but there seemed to be some other current of communication taking place.

"you have expressed interest in acquiring a trained terentatek. I will be the first to tell you that it really cannot be done nor maintained by ...well, an inorganic - to be frank. Terentateks are the result of Sith alchemy, an unnatural amalgamation of many hideous creatures and arcane powers. They are sithspawn that were not created with the intention to train, but to set loose upon the Jedi of the galaxy. To that end, we can offer a certain iota of control through the use of conditioning to certain stimuli but it will take quite some time to achieve and would be best implemented on juveniles."

______
OOC - I totally did not forget about this thread.

...yes I did.

My bad. >_>

"You are correct. My sincerest apologies, that was what I had intended when I spoke of training. I apparently chose the wrong word in the request. Tamed is impossible as far as I know for some of these creatures, I am more concerned with having a degree of control, as you suggested. Certain stimuli sounds like a good solution." He stopped and thought for a moment. Juvenile was most definitely a problem as he had not hear of one. However he did know that Terentateks had basically become their own species, with both male and female, he had done some studies on the HoloNet. He assumed that they had a reproduction cycle, of course finding two together with a young one would be an incredible difficulty.

"Then perhaps that one can be marked off the list. I will have to do further study before I can decide whether or not to continue towards that end." He fell quiet again as he tried to articulate a continuation. "Shall we go through the list now and discuss what is capable of being achieved and not? I do not wish to waste time any more than I assume you would."

------------------

Perfectly alright. That happens.

I might have forgotten about it as well... :D

"It can be done," Volden rebutted, "just not in a timely manner. We farm terentateks on Onderon and presently harbor 32 wild breeding pairs, not counting any others that have yet to be trapped and tracked. A juvenile will not be difficult to find, it is the conditioning that will take time." The man made several notations on his list with a stylus before moving on. He began to pace slowly around the table, yellow eyes on the denoted list in his hands.

"Tusk and mankacats won't be a problem. Bull rancor...that will take some doing," another glance to Quietus who gave a slow nod in affirmative, "but I think our contacts with the Dathomiri should be sufficient. We may be able to acquire one already trained in exchange for the successful capture and removal of a tyrant rancor. Even the witches keep their distance from them. A colored Felucian Rancor will require time to locate, they're not as common. Gibbit birds come with the territory and won't be a problem at all."

"All in all, for the entirety of this list we have several months of work cut out for all involved parties."

Ultimatum listened to as the man went over portions of the list. From what it sounded, it appeared to be straight forward. He was surprised at the calm with which these organics were taking his requests. It was pleasant to be working with something along the lines of a more professional company. A few he had cooperated with had been little more than cobbled together groups looking for money and equipment. Both of which he was capable of supplying, though he preferred to provide it when he knew that the people he was supporting were not just looking for handouts. This organic, more correctly these organics, were definitely not looking for such, they were professional and seemed capable of what they said.

"I thank you for accepting the list so quickly. I would like to offer my assistance should you require it for any of these creatures. Do you believe there will be any difficultly with some of them?" Ultimatum expected the difficulty would most fall in with the attempts at conditioning and collection of the larger rancors. However he was not an expert in that field and wanted to hear the opinions who he assumed were experts.

"There is always some level of difficulty when capturing wild creatures, Mr. Ultimatum. However, we prefer to work with as little outside influence or interference as possible," Volden replied, "our people have undergone years of training, not to be undermined by the ignorance of clientele. Simply put, it's far more efficient for us to work alone. Now, that being said, we will require a downpayment for the jobs. We'll defer payment for the larger creatures until we can assure delivery."

[member="Ultimatum"]

Ultimatum nodded his understanding, "Very good. How much do you require?" Ultimatum could understand the preference to work without outside influence, he did not want to be a problem. Offering of services was just his way of being polite, even if he had doubted that the woman would accept. For the difficulty of this first patch of creatures he was willing to write a blank check and let her name the price, but he was unsure if she was one of those organics took advantage of such things. He was willing to pay whatever price within reason.
