Welcome to the Bastion Imperial Remnant.

This thread is an OOC guide for writers who want to join, interact with, oppose, negotiate with, infiltrate, or build stories around the faction. It explains what the Empire is (yes, it identifies as the Empire or the Galactic Empire henceforth), what kind of characters fit, which divisions exist, how to get started, and where to find the relevant faction resources.

The short version: this faction is built around classic Imperial roleplay: stormtroopers, Star Destroyers, Moffs, the ISB, military campaigns, intelligence work, propaganda, political intrigue, secret projects, Inquisitors, rival Imperial claimants, and the restoration of centralized Imperial power.

You do not need to know every piece of Imperial history to join. You only need a character who can fit somewhere inside, alongside, beneath or near the machinery of the Empire to write with us.

WHAT IS THE BASTION IMPERIAL REMNANT?

The Bastion Imperial Remnant is an Imperial restoration faction built around the idea that the galaxy has endured too many broken successor states, Sith-dominated regimes, failed dynasties, scattered remnants, military juntas, and isolated holdouts.

It is not a fully restored galactic government yet. It is an Imperial state under restoration.

Through the Continuity Standard Protocol, surviving Imperial institutions, officers, assets, fleets, archives, intelligence cells, garrisons, industrial sites, and political authorities are being recalled, audited, classified, restored, or brought into compliance.

The Empire claims the full legacy and institutional architecture of Imperial rule, but much of that machinery still has to be rebuilt through roleplay.

That means the faction is both:
  • a jumpstart Empire with recognizable Imperial identity, military force, hierarchy, and ambition;
  • and a restoration project rebuilding its throne, ministries, fleets, territories, chains of command, and legitimacy.
The Empire is not meant to be static. It is meant to grow, harden, fracture, conquer, negotiate, purge, and define itself through story.

WHAT KIND OF EMPIRE IS THIS?

This is a classic Galactic Empire-style faction.

The tone is:
  • militarized;
  • authoritarian;
  • bureaucratic;
  • disciplined;
  • expansionist;
  • intelligence-heavy;
  • hostile to disorder;
  • suspicious of mystic orders;
  • obsessed with continuity, command, and legitimacy.
The Bastion Imperial Remnant does not see itself as one state among many. It sees itself as the necessary state-form of galactic civilization.

It believes fragmentation is the galaxy's great disease. Rebellions, Sith cults, Jedi crusades, warlords, pirates, weak coalitions, corrupt governors, and failed democracies are all treated as symptoms of the same wider decay: the absence of unified Imperial authority.

Its answer is simple:
One law. One state. One Empire.

WHAT IS THE CONTINUITY STANDARD PROTOCOL?

The Continuity Standard Protocol is the founding instrument of the restoration. A link to the full IC document is here.

It is not simply a military operation. It is a formal Imperial recall, audit, and reclassification directive designed to locate, evaluate, and restore surviving Imperial assets after the collapse of previous regimes.

In practice, it gives the Remnant a reason to interact with almost any Imperial story.

A surviving fleet can be contacted.
A forgotten garrison can be recalled.
A rogue Moff can be audited.
A Sith-compromised command can be purged.
A loyal remnant can be integrated.
A rival Imperial claimant can be negotiated with, challenged, or opposed.
An abandoned shipyard can be reclaimed.
A lost archive can become the beginning of a campaign.

OOC, the Protocol is a story device. It exists to create roleplay, not to force agreement.

Some characters may answer the call.
Some may reject it.
Some may exploit it.
Some may challenge it.
Some may try to own it.
Some may go to war over it.

All of those are valid stories.

Directory of Roles:
Imperial Government

Order • Authority • Continuity

Rule, Law, Order, and Imperial Continuity

By order of the Continuity Standard Protocol, Imperial government shall be restored in stages: command first, ceremony later, sovereignty always.
The Imperial Government is the political and administrative heart of the Bastion Imperial Remnant. It exists to restore law, hierarchy, civic order, propaganda, sector rule, and institutional legitimacy.

At present, the government is provisional and expanding. The Empire claims the full structure of Imperial rule, but not every office is fully restored. Some institutions are active, some are dormant, and some will develop as territory, influence, and writers grow.

Current Focus

  • restoring central authority;
  • classifying Imperial offices and titles;
  • establishing civic order;
  • coordinating Moffs and governors;
  • rebuilding COMPNOR;
  • enforcing Imperial standards;
  • preparing the question of the Throne.

Roles to Play

Moffs, governors, ministers, bureaucrats, propagandists, COMPNOR officials, legal officers, political officers, standards inspectors, diplomats, loyalist elites, and ambitious administrators.

Story Hooks

Govern a reclaimed world. Audit a remnant officer. Issue propaganda. Debate the Throne. Negotiate with rival Imperials. Expose corruption. Build the machinery of state.

Imperial Ruling Council
The Imperial Ruling Council is the de facto ruler of the Bastion Imperial Remnant at this point and will be composed of a variety of Imperial ranks.

DIRECTORY OF ROLES:
IMPERIAL MILITARY

Order • Authority • Continuity

Fleet, Army, Stormtroopers, and Imperial Force Projection

By order of the Continuity Standard Protocol, the Imperial Military is a priority organ of restoration: without force, law is only memory.
The Imperial Military is the armed body of the Empire. It conquers, defends, occupies, intimidates, patrols, blockades, and restores Imperial control where diplomacy and decree are insufficient.

The military is active from the beginning and forms one of the faction's central pillars.

Current Focus

  • restoring fleet strength;
  • rebuilding army formations;
  • deploying stormtrooper units;
  • securing shipyards and depots;
  • conducting reclamation campaigns;
  • protecting Imperial assets;
  • projecting force against enemies and rivals.

Key Branches

Imperial Army: ground warfare, occupation, armor, artillery, garrisons, military engineering, planetary campaigns.

Imperial Navy: fleets, Star Destroyers, blockades, orbital control, strategic deployment, logistics, and military prestige.

Imperial Starfighter Corps: pilots, interceptor wings, bombers, patrol craft, carrier operations, and space superiority.

Stormtrooper Corps: elite shock troops and the visible face of Imperial authority. Stormtroopers are not merely soldiers; they are the Empire made manifest.

Roles to Play

Stormtroopers, army officers, naval officers, pilots, fleet captains, generals, admirals, walkers crews, combat engineers, logistics officers, military police, academy cadets, and special operations troops.

Story Hooks

Lead an assault. Join a fleet action. Occupy a world. Patrol a sector. Reclaim a shipyard. Train at an academy. Board an enemy vessel. Crush an insurgency. March beneath the Imperial standard.

Directory of Roles:
Imperial Intelligence

Order • Authority • Continuity

Security, Espionage, Loyalty, and the War in the Shadows

By order of the Continuity Standard Protocol, Imperial Intelligence is restored as a priority organ: the Empire must know its enemies, including those within.
Imperial Intelligence is the shadow apparatus of the Empire. It gathers information, monitors loyalty, infiltrates enemies, exposes sedition, protects secrets, and ensures that Imperial authority is not hollowed out from within.

This division is active from the beginning.

Current Focus

  • internal security;
  • loyalty investigations;
  • counter-sedition;
  • espionage;
  • surveillance;
  • interrogation;
  • foreign infiltration;
  • counter-Jedi and counter-Sith intelligence;
  • monitoring Imperial officers, governors, and allies.

Key Branches

Imperial Security Bureau
The ISB handles internal security, political reliability, loyalty enforcement, anti-corruption, counter-sedition, and the surveillance of Imperial institutions.

The ISB does not only hunt rebels.
It hunts Imperial decay.

Imperial Intelligence
Imperial Intelligence handles external espionage, covert operations, sabotage, asset recruitment, infiltration, blackmail, deception, and strategic threat analysis.

Roles to Play

ISB agents, intelligence officers, analysts, interrogators, infiltrators, handlers, double agents, surveillance specialists, loyalty investigators, signals officers, and internal affairs officials.

Story Hooks

Investigate a Moff. Audit a remnant unit. Expose a traitor. Infiltrate a rival faction. Interrogate a prisoner. Track Sith influence. Monitor Jedi activity. Run a black operation. Decide who is still loyal.

The Inquisitorius

Order • Authority • Continuity

Force Affairs, Containment, and State-Sanctioned Power

By order of the Continuity Standard Protocol, all Force-related assets and threats are to be identified, contained, regulated, or destroyed.
The Inquisitorius is the Empire's answer to Force-based instability. It exists to hunt, study, contain, regulate, and weaponise Force-related threats in service to the state.

It is active from the beginning, but subordinated to Imperial authority.
The Force is an instrument of the Empire, not a source of sovereignty.

Current Focus

  • hunting rogue Force-users;
  • investigating Jedi and Sith activity;
  • suppressing cults;
  • recovering artifacts;
  • regulating Imperial Force-sensitives;
  • assisting the ISB;
  • supporting military operations;
  • preventing mystical orders from rivaling the state.

Imperial Position

The Empire does not recognize Jedi crusades, Sith cults, or esoteric allegiances as lawful powers above the state.

Force-users may serve.
They may be studied.
They may be used.
They may be destroyed.

They may not rule by mystical right.

Roles to Play

Inquisitors, Force-sensitive agents, former Sith under Imperial oversight, Jedi hunters, Sith hunters, artifact specialists, occult investigators, anti-Force commanders, interrogators, and Imperial adepts.

Story Hooks

Hunt a Jedi. Break a Sith cult. Recover an artifact. Audit a Force-sensitive officer. Assist an ISB purge. Investigate a forbidden shrine. Prove that power serves command.
