Sol stalked through the streets of Kaas City, ignoring the people, droids, and everything else. He walked the city streets just as his father had once done. He looked at everything with a sort of child like eagerness, though beneath his Mask that was impossible to tell. Sol smiled slightly as he passed the market and a statue of his Father. Even after Moridin had betrayed the Empire many of his idols still sat within the cities in the Empire.

Many of the populace did not know the real reason Moridin left, the coup had not exactly been publicized so Moridin was still rather popular with the normal citizens. That was part of the reason why Sol wore a mask, he resembled his father greatly and hiding his appearance made things much easier. As he wandered through the city streets the citizens moved away from him, they knew better than to mess with a Sith.

Slowly he wandered through the streets, until finally he took a left into a dark alleyway, a shortcut back to the Citadel. For today he had had enough of the city.

Wrong choice, mused the two meter tall humanoid that had been following swiftly behind Sol as he turned into the alleyway. I mean, come on, who turns into dark alleyways and isn't asking for trouble?

Menoetius had been following the man for the past half hour, eagerly awaiting for him to make a silly mistake like he'd just done. Sure, the man may be a Sith, but Menoetius considered himself to be the better Sith. Therefore, this man was his prey. A good feast, he'd provide - Menoetius could tell. The force aura eminating from him was immense, a sign of extremely potent soup, a promise of the power that could be transferred to the Anzat along with the digestion of this being's brain matter.

Talking of force auras, Menoetius' own was surpressed, a skill he had taught himself to do whilst spending months in exile. Hopefully this would be enough not to alert the man of his presence until Menoetius revealed himself. Which, funnily enough, was now.

In a bid to overwhelm the man immediately, Darth Erebos stepped into the alleyway valiantly and... raised his arm. Anti-climatic, you might think, but think again. Sparks and arcs of blue electricity surged down the Anzat's arm, eventually forming a startingly large ball of controlled energy in the palm of his outstretched hand. All of this energy was fuelled and powered by Menoetius' own emotions. Well, most of it was formed from his own emotions. The rest was aided by the residual memories of the victims he had consumed. Shards of former sentient beings, all seeping fear, dread, pain and torment into Menoetius' own head.

So, this energy ball, this spherical lightning strike, was quite large and evil looking. The air hissed and burnt as the energy discharged, sending the ball of sparking blue electricity straight towards Sol. Although it was menacing and quite dangerous, Menoetius had made sure there wasn't enough power to kill the man. Perhaps knock him unconscious if caught completely off guard.

Before the ball of pure Sith Lightning could hit him Sol turned around. He acted out of nothing more than pure unadulterated instinct. He struck at the ball with a wave of the force, bringing up his arms and letting the lightning strike his forearms. He couldn't quite absorb the energy, he was neither strong enough nor well versed in the force. The lightning struck him, and then washed over him completely. The pain wracked his body, but it was not something that he couldn't deal with.

Still the force rushed over him and threw him back several feet. He fell into place within the dark alley, scrapping along the ground. As he fell the force of the hit threw his mask from his face, the black metal fell onto the ground with a loud clang sliding several dozen feet before coming to a full stop.

Sol attempted to move to his feet, though the lightning had scarred him far too much. He groaned slightly, but prepared to fight from his current position.

There was no hesitation, no mercy and certainly no second guessing as Menoetius descended upon his prey. In a blur, Darth Erebos had moved from the entrance of the alleyway to mere feet away from Sol. A shiny-hilted lightsaber suddenly appeared in his left hand, summoned from the depths of his black robes and guided into a pale palm with the force. An all too familiar sound greeted the two, the snap-hiss a lightsaber makes when it ignites. Brilliant crimson light sparked to life in the form of a superheated plasma blade, bathing its surroundings in a dull red glow.

The almost demonic face of Menoetius was finally visible, eerily illuminated by the stereotypical Sith weapon of choice. He was smiling. Not happily, not madly. Coldly. An icey smile; created by the pleasure of inflicting pain on another sentient individual.

It was apparent that Menoetius harbored some mental issues, but hey... Nobody's perfect.

Moments after the smile came into existence, it was wiped away. Why, you ask? Well, the brainthirsty Anzati had laid eyes upon his prey's bare face. The face of a Dreadlord. The face of Darth Moridin. The smile was replaced with a quizzical, almost confused expression, which was just as brief as the smile. Then anger bubbled to the surface, a rage that Menoetius only experienced when his prey escaped; which was not often. The furious Anzat stared Sol in the eyes, searching them for an answer.

A moment passed before a low growl crept up and out of Menoetius' mouth, quickly followed by words fighting to break free of a clenched jaw. "Who. Are. You?" The predator asked his prey, annoyance and frustration evident behind his low voice. Unfortunately, Menoetius already knew the answer.

Sol was up on his feet almost as fast as one could imagine it. He might have only been an apprentice but he was also the son of the Dreadlord Moridin. Body enhancing force techniques were part of who he was, it ran through his blood. So in slightly more than a blink of an eye Sol stood opposite the Anzat Sith, staring into his eyes. He frowned, the man was clearly an alien, the face tentacles kind of tipped that off.

He had never met an Anzat before, they were rare within the greater galaxy and Sol highly doubted that it was a coincidence he was meeting one on a Sith world.

Sol watched as the creature reacted...adversely to his appearance, and a smile formed on his face. It was clear that the creature had mistaken him for his father...or at least partially. His eyes fell on the lightsaber and that pretty much sealed his assumptions. The alien was a Sith, that much was clear to him now. After a few more seconds of pensive thought Sol finally spoke up, his cold voice breaking the air. “Soliael Devin Talith. Though I suspect you would be far more interested in my father, Moridin.”

Sol wanted to see how the creature reacted, though every single muscle in his body tensed. He was getting ready to run.

As soon as the smile appeared on Sol's face, Menoetius' own formed a harsh frown. The man before him smelt of arrogance which was confirmed, at least in Menoetius' mind, when the man answered his question. Uneasy moments passed, the soft hum of a lightsaber providing the only background noise. Finally, a sharp, electronic, sucking sound eminated from the hilt as the plasma blade retracted smartly into its emitter. The electrum-plated cylinder glided out of Menoetius' palm and tucked itself within the depths of his pitch black robes once more.

Suddenly, without warning, Erebos' hand shot out horizontally, his index finger and thumb former a crude 'U' shape - aimed directly at Sol's throat. Another low growl rumbled up through the Anzat's body as he commanded the force to wrap tightly around the man's neck. As he did this, Menoetius also made sure to move the man up off the ground and a few feet away from his original position, safely eliminating the worry of a lightsaber slicing through his arm.

With power fueled by rage and frustration, he kept Sol locked a foot above the ground, the glowing orange beads of his pupils boring into Sol's own. Menoetius knew that knowledge was power and he hated being without it. The man in front of him was something Menoetius should have known about, should have prepared for. So he wanted to know everything about this person, this spawn of a Dreadlord.

And he wasn't going to ask any questions.

With eyes narrowed, concentration set in as Menoetius utilised his own mental powers to try and breach Sol's mind. He wanted to rip the information, the memories, everything this man knew about himself, straight from him. The more Sol resisted, the more Menoetius' grip would tighten around his throat.

Sol was caught up in the force almost instantly. He tried to fight back for a few moments, though he knew it was hopeless. He could feel the man probing his mind, attempting to tear information from him. The Dreadlords son screamed in agony. He knew that the man wanted to get in his mind, but he also knew what he wanted to find out. With concentration taught by his mother and grandmother Sol blocked the man from parts of his memories.

He allowed the Anzat to claw at the parts of his mind that held Moridin, but threw up massive walls everywhere else. He did not resist otherwise, letting the creature find out all about Sol and his connection to Moridin.

It was not much of course, he would see flashes of a womans blank face telling Sol about his father. Then he would see the memories of a DNA test that Sol had taken using a stolen piece of Moridins blood held within the Sith Archives. Then he would see memories of the conversation Sol had with Anara about his father, and that was all that the Anzat would see. If he attempted to dig further into his mind, to find out about his mother or grandmother, or his more...violent past then he would find impenetrable walls of thought. Menoetius was stronger, but Sol would rather die then have people find out about his family.

So the Sith struggled in the air, waiting for his attacker to be satiated.

All in all, the process of invading Sol's mind and ripping the information Menoetius sought from it was over in less than a minute. He attempted a few times to access deeper memories, but alas, the man's mind was strong. Willpower was always a respectable trait, and it was apparent that Sol possessed a lot of it.

Armed with the knowledge that Menoetius desired, he tightened his grip on Sol's neck for a few more seconds before releasing both mind and body. So, it was confirmed. The man, who was called Soliael, was Moridin's biological son. To be honest, Menoetius didn't need to reach into the man's mind to figure that one out. The similarities were uncanny, almost clone like. Still, it had gotten the first point of Menoetius' new plan across; he was the one in power. He was the one to obey.

"Soliael," Erebos began, his voice clearer now that it didn't have to fight through a wall of teeth. "I knew your father. I was his apprentice for a short while. It only seems fitting that now, you should be mine."

A moment passed whilst the Anzat chose his words, his eyes still focused on the man incase he tried anything. "You may be the Dreadlord's son, but you are definitely not his equal. Your potential..." Menoetius took a deep breath. "... Is immense. I will shape it, guide you. You will be my apprentice, Soliael...

... Or you will die."

Sol simply looked at the other man for a few seconds, the monster was apparently entirely planning on having him be his apprentice. For a few seconds he thought about his options, he could say no and fight the creature, though that would probably lead to quite a bit of injury...perhaps even death. He frowned, his mother would never submit, though his grandmother would council him to be smart and not take rash action. Silencia would have done the intelligent thing, and thats exactly what Sol would do here. He would learn from this creature, and when he was done he would kill it.

“Done.” Sol said simply as if the two of them had struck a deal of some sort. There was not a look of fear or anger in his eyes, nor was there submission or anything like it. Sol smiled at the creature, he would certainly be of use for a little while.

Malevolent eyes narrowed, seemingly displeased at Sol's response. In fact, Menoetius was displayed. With the whole situation. He was out for a meal, a drink of soup, but instead he had picked up the son of Darth Moridin. It was bittersweet... Fortunately, Menoetius now possessed a lackey; one who was powerful enough to do his dirty work, one he could monitor and control. He'd have to be careful, though, as the man before him was already quite powerful. One day Sol would attempt to kill him and Menoetius would have to be prepared.

Plans were already being thought out in his devious mind, plans pertaining as to how to betray the man after his usefulness had expired.

Of course, this was all from Menoetius' perspective. From the writer's prospective, he thinks Sol is a pretty cool guy and can't wait to have the pair wreak havoc on the galaxy together.

"Now, return to the citadel. I will find you tomorrow morning and your training will ensue. If you attempt to leave the planet or even the citadel, you will have made a powerful enemy..." Menoetius took one last up and down glance of his new apprentice. "... Run along, now." He would then proceed to turn on his heel and exit the alleyway, already scanning for a substitute meal.

“Yes Master.” Sol said the words with a completely serious face. There was no hint of mockery in his tone, not even a dash of sarcasm. Soliael was completely and entirely serious, he knew well enough when someone was capable of killing him, he had spent more than half of his life around such people. So when his new Master told him to do something...he did it. Of course it would only be for a time, when Sol was ready to he would kill the strange alien and leave his corpse for the very things he now considered food.

Quickly the Sith Apprentice made his way back towards the Citadel. He frowned slightly looking up at the massive building. Soliael had found a piece of information within the archives of his father. It had detailed the construction of the citadel and how Moridin had slightly...irked that process. That had been back when the Empire had been lead by a triumvirate, three Sith Lords had been in charge instead of an Emperor or a council.

Sol remembered the records well as he wandered closer to the Citadel. He wondered if Moridin had planned even then to become Emperor, or if It had just been a fluke.

THE NEXT DAY

The Anzat didn't sleep that night. Oh no, last night was full of fun and excitement. The Citadel may note the absence of a few apprentices but would never learn of their demise, find the bodies or even the killer... Killer. Menoetius never considered himself that. Never a murderer. Just a mechanism of nature, fighting to keep the ecosystem of the entire galaxy in balance. A fight that Darth Erebos thoroughly enjoyed.

In fact, he enjoyed it so much that he had recruited the son of Darth Moridin to aid him in the good fight.

Two rapping knocks rung out on the doorframe leading into Sol's personal room, the door already open. The figure of Menoetius stood in the frame, his hood down, revealing to the apprentice his face for the first time. It was like a human's, besides from the bulbous nose, and sported three brutal scars running down its cheek. It was pale and corrupted and, along with sharp features, screamed evil. A crooked smile appeared on its lips as Menoetius rubbed his gloved hands together.

"Prepare yourself, Soliael. Today you will be lucky enough to learn from me. Follow."

Turning on his heel, the Sith Knight walked away. He would lead Sol to a huge room adorned with training equipment and various Sith artifacts. A training and meditation room. Facing Sol once more, he asked, "So, my new apprentice, what do you know already?"

Sol stood there for a few seconds studying his new Master, he watched him and tried to learn his reactions to things. It was quite simple to look at a man, it was another thing to learn about him. He wondered if the man had an inkling to who Soliael really was, he knew of course that Soliael was the Son of Moridin. The other side of his heritage however was far more secretive. The identities of his mother and Grandmother had stayed vaulted away within his mind, though from the way Soliael acted and even his very name his family line was actually quite clear...at least to those who knew Silencia and Quietus.

“I know much.” Soliael said finally in simple answer to his master. “I have been fortunate enough to be gifted with a long life and thus the study of the force has ever been a part of my daily activities. It is not the initiation of force powers that troubles me. It is the channeling of the force into these powers that is the problem for me.”

For all intense and purposes Soliael already had the knowledge of most Sith Knights, perhaps even some masters. The problem was that he had denied himself the Force for so long that he was no longer able to tap into it quite as well as others. Because of this it was more difficult for him to channel the force.

“What I intend to be massive torrents of Force Lightning becomes sparks. Spears of Midnight Black become needles. Waves of Force Destruction become ebbs. Sith magics woven to compel the minds of others instead become little more than lethal webs of death.” Sol spoke as though he was truly dismayed, a frown upon his face.

The Sith looked down at his hands, and then up at his new Master. He gave the man a shrug. “The Force denies itself to me.”
