I'll Find You

Anoat

An old VCX-700 Courier dropped out of hyperspace with a sudden abrupt lurch. It didn't fall so much as tumble, reaching back into realspace with a sudden jerk that would make anyone inside half throw up.

Munin knew that because he experienced it.

The heavy weight on his chest pushed abruptly as his ship fell out of hyperspace, his eyes crossing for just a moment and a bit of bile filling his throat. He fought back the urge to puke, his lips thinning as he grabbed the controls a bit more tightly. There was no smile on his face, no expression save for one; panic. He had gotten the signal just a few hours ago, and dread had filled him almost in an instant.

He'd moved as soon as he could, grabbing the nearest ship and running through a dozen different designations that would allow him to travel to what was now First Order space. His fingers had long ago turned to a white knuckle grip on the controls, releasing for only a second so that he could activate and hone in on the locator. His eyes searched the screen frantically, the smallest ping erupting within the field of debris that hung over Anoat.

"I'm coming, honey." Munin said to himself quietly.

The engines of the ancient vessel burned bright, and quickly he flew into the debris field.

The shields held up well enough as he bumped and brushed his way past pieces of a dozen different star destroyers and space stations. His eyes fixed on the screen until he drew closer, bright flood lights activating on the front of the ship as he frantically searched for Spark.

Eyes moved rapidly beneath closed lids. Faces popped up like wraiths between the moments of blackness: [member="Vexen"], [member="Allyson Locke"], @ipsy. Where had Vexen gone? She'd seen Ipsy last. The small foxlike creature had tried to help the blonde but neither of them had expected the blast. Small digits clamped down on the necklace from [member="Munin"] before things went dark.

#whathappened?

The dark and cold continued to stalk her like a prowling nexu. She'd been plugged in the First Order Anoat station. She'd BEEN the station. She and Allyson kept it together. They'd made the jump. But [member="Cameron Centurion"] had been the wildcard. While he may have physically ripped [member="Micah Talith"] apart, his explosion of darkside nexus had mentally ripped apart the slicer and master technopath.

#glitchglitch

Head twitched as her small body floated among the debris. There was a beeping warning in her thinsuit about depleted oxygen levels. Spark Finn didn't hear it. There was a splinter of darkside malice lodged within her mind and she was trapped around the barbed edges. She didn't know it yet but a piece of the Sith Lord was trapped within her mind and it called out to its other shard. There was another.

[member="Spark Finn"]

Munin floated along the debris, his lips thinning.

Briefly the Slicer caught what looked to be something human shaped within the HUD of his ship, though a moment later he correlated it with the scanner off to his right and confirmed that it wasn't Spark. He let outa curse and then kept searching.

The Slicer had no idea how long he searched, no idea how long he looked, but eventually, he found her.

A ping rang through the screen to his left, then another, then another. A smile touched his lips for the first time in what seemed like an age. He immediately dashed back out of the cockpit, setting the auto-pilot and turning on his heel to bound back into the cargo hold of the ship. Immediately he placed a helmet on his head, lips thinning as he took the back controls of the ship and slowly began to steer them forward. The air depressurized from the cargo hold, and then the bay door fell open.

A breath took him.

He saw her floating within the reaches of the Abyss, and slowly, as carefully as he could, Munin maneuvered the ship to scoop her up.

There was a flash of something bright behind her closed lids. Sleep. The darkness continued to claw at her and pull her in. She was tired of fighting it. Breathing continued to get shallower.

There was a sudden pressure on her chest. No, her whole #bony body as the ship scooped her up and gravity was activated. Gangly limbs lay motionless on the deck as she stopped breathing. Pale face seemed a lot paler.

[member="Spark Finn"]

As soon as Spark passed into the cargo hold Munin slammed the door shut. The back of the ancient Freighter closed with a loud groan, it's door so ancient that they barely functioned even now. A few moments later the air refilled the cabin, and Munin slammed the button to call a medical droid.

He had known well enough that he wouldn't be able to save Spark, not if she was seriously injured.

The Slicer knew the basics of First Aid, but anything beyond that he was completely in the dark. So he had borrowed, or stolen, a top of the line medical droid that could fix everything besides death itself. The automaton came screeching into the room, Munin already gently removing her helmet.

The droid pushed him to the side. "Save her."

He told it in a flat voice.

She was the only thing he cared about.

The droid knew what it needed to do and moved with programmed precision. An electric jolt ran through Spark's body. Her petite form jerked on the deck, blonde-hair breaking free from its ponytail and dashing across her pale features. Glasses fell a bit more lopsided down her nose.

There was a second that passed and then another jolt. Body flopped like a Nabbooian fish out of water. With an internal convulsion, her lips finally parted on their own and her chest heaved, taking in a shallow lungful of air. Eyes remained closed as her heart and chest moved, the rest of her body motionless but alive.

#glitchglitch

Head twitched slightly and a groan escaped from the depths of her throat.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"Spark!" He called out to her, but he didn't touch her, not yet.

The Medical droid was still doing its work and the last thing Munin wanted to do was interrupt something that could be saving her life. His head began to spin, panic gripped him, but deep breath after deep breath filled his lungs.

He couldn't freak out. Not now.

"I'm here." He told her, hoping that she could hear him. "I got you."

There was panic in his tone. "You'll be okay."

Munin wasn't sure if he was trying to convince her or himself

His voice cracked through the veneer unconsciousness. Eyelids opened. Blue-eyes blinked slowly, trying to focus. A droid was hovering over her. Poking and prodding. A hand came up and flopped on the deck. Someone familiar.

#hisvoice

"Munin?" She croaked, voice weak. Blonde-haired head moved, blue-eyes trying to find him. Her body felt strange. And disorientation was making the room spin. And then she screamed as if she was being ripped apart like the station all over again.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"I'm here it's oka-" The scream interrupted him, though he wasn't quite sure what to do.

Panic set in on him again, lips thinning, eyes growing big. His gaze fell up and down her body then shot towards the medical droid who seemed just about as clueless as Munin did. There was something going on that neither of them would really understand of course, The Force wasn't exactly something that was taught to Droids.

"Hey hey hey." He touched her hand gently. "It's alright."

He told her. "It's fine."

It probably wasn't but Munin was trying his best.

"There's a med-bay on board." Again, mostly filled with equipment he'd stolen. "We'll get you patched up."

A shiver went through the force master's body. Gloves-fingers squeezed hard against Munin's and she stopped screaming at his touch. He anchored her. Brought her back to her body. She wasn't the station. She wasn't on the station.

And for one horrible second, something dark stirred within her. That shard throbbing in her mind. She suddenly wanted to hurt Munin.

But just as quickly she blinked the thought away.

#lolwut #notlogical

"I'm cold and scared," she whimpered up at him like a bleating lamb. She needed help to move. To change. And to get to the medbay.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"It's alright." He told her, gently grasping her hand.

For a brief moment he looked up at the droid, checking to see if it was actually okay to move her or if it would cause too much stress on her body. After a few seconds of what Munin presumed to be scanning the droid nodded at The Slicer.

"Hang on." He told her quietly as he moved closer. "This might hurt a bit."

The damage to her body was extensive, but the droid wasn't outfitted to move people and Munin hadn't trusted anyone to come help him in this, thus there was only one way to move Spark. His arms slipped under her, and with one quick heave he pulled her off the ground and into his arms.

Without even a second of hesitation he began to head towards the medical bay, all the while whispering to Spark that it would be okay.

She winced and arms wrapped around his shoulders, face burying into the side of his neck. His blond hair tickled against her forehead as she carried her deeper into the ship. Eyes squeezed closed as the world spun as she moved. Things ached and hurt and her body felt like a hollowed-out shell.

Teeth chattered.

#solcold #spacewascold

"I don't feel right," she murmured against him.

#glitchglitch

Something wasn't right but she didn't know what it was. She was too tired to figure it out. So tired.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"You're hurt." The explanation came just as they entered the med-bay.

In an instant the medical droid went to work, Munin putting Spark down onto the bed in the center of the room. A scanner quickly looped over Spark and over the next few minutes the droid would pull out Bacta patches and injections, doing its best to treat Spark's wounds as effectively as possible.

"I found you." He stated quickly as the droid buzzed around. "In space."

The necklace had worked.

It was one thing to be thankful for. "I'm going to get you home."

The new apartment that he had been building for the two of them, their own little safehouse. It wasn't quite done yet, but it was where they could go, where they could escape to and be alone while she recovered.

For once, she didn't put up a fuss as her thinsuit and clothes were removed, replaced with a soft cotton and simple gown. #stillawkward Thin lips pursed as she was poked and prodded. After a bit, the medical droid backed off and a warm blanket was carefully draped over her gangly-form. Blonde-hair shifted on the pillow as she stared quietly at Munin.

Eyes were already drooping.

"We have a home?"

Fingers broke free of the blanket on the side, reaching out to curl around his fingers, scared he would leave. Scared she would lose him.

[member="Spark Finn"]

”Yes.” He told her with a small smile.

The first place that they had called their home had been destroyed by the people chasing Munin, ever since then he'd felt terrible about them losing the one place they could be safely alone. So he'd worked as hard as he could, getting everything together and building something he and Spark could live in as fast as humanly possible.

It wasn't done yet, but it would be soon enough.

”Were headed there now.” He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. ”Everything will be okay.”

Munin repeated the words again.

Silently, she stared up at Munin's face. He seemed to blur and change as her eyes closed but she was too tired to fight it. He kept saying everything would be okay but she wasn't so sure. She felt defeated and she could almost sense something darker inside. Something waiting to devour - a prowling beast along the border of her weakening defenses.

"I hope so," she mumbled, eyes finally closing as she fell into a deep black-sleep with the feeling of his fingers entwined through his own, small gangly-body tucked beneath a thick fuzzy blanket.

Munin didn't move of course.

He used a small tablet within the med-bay to activate the slave-rigged system within the old VCX freighter. The ship rumbled for a moment, pulling itself along the path that was most safe through the debris field. After a few minutes it passed to the edge of the sector, and from there jumped to hyperspace.

A few seconds later the Medical droid listed Spark's injuries for him.

They were more severe than he had expected, but the droid assured Munin that with enough time she would make a full recovery. It was something, but worry still spiked through him, and The Slicer was unable to keep himself from gently stroking the back of Spark's palm with his thumb.

She was the only thing he cared about, the only thing he wanted.

He wouldn't let her die. Not now or ever.

About ten hours later, she finally stirred. She felt...physically better. But still not right. Feet shifted beneath the blanket. Blue-eyes opened beneath glass lenses. She rarely took off her glasses even when she slept.

#hipster

Fingers rose to push beneath her lenses, trying to rub the sleep and exhaustion from her eyes. Blonde-hair fell in tangles around her face. Pale-digits waved off the medical droid as she slowly pulled herself to a sitting position.

[member="Spark Finn"]

Munin was laying in the chair beside her.

The thing wasn't at all comfortable, just the opposite in fact, but he hadn't wanted to leave her side while she was recovering. The droid had tried to tell him to go to bed, that she would be okay, but Munin had of course completely ignored it. He hadn't wanted to leave her, he hadn't wanted to be a second away from her.

Now that she stirred of course, he was asleep.

It wasn't a small bit of sleep either, it was a deep, worried filled sleep. He had stayed up nearly every hour since The Slicer had found her, and even though he had numerous implants inside of his body that boosted his abilities not getting sleep was still rather...bad.

So when Spark awoke, she would find Munin sleeping.

Adjusting the glasses up the bridge of her nose, her eyes focused on Munin. She looked quietly at him, curled up in an uncomfortable position. He'd found her. He'd saved her.

#meltyheart

Gangly limbs swung over the edge of the medical bed and she slipped down. Blanket remained firmly wrapped around her shoulders. Munin looked so peaceful, so, she let him sleep.

Feet softly padded toward the ship's corridor in search of caf. The medical droid buzzed toward her but before it could poke, prod, or say anything, she turned off the device with her mind. #mechuderu

And for a moment, she felt a rush of anger.

Head shook and she brushed the odd feeling aside and continued deeper into the ship.
