SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Compact - Sized for starfighters or combat airspeeders
  • Can't hit me - Disrupts targeting sensors focused on the host vessel
  • Red alert - Informs pilot when their craft is being targeted
Strengths:
  • Compact - Sized for starfighters or combat airspeeders
  • Can't hit me - Disrupts targeting sensors focused on the host vessel
  • Red alert - Informs pilot when their craft is being targeted
Weaknesses:
  • Electronic - Designed to counter electronic targeting, this does not react to visual-only targeting
  • EMP - Delicate electronics are delicate, EMPs can disrupt or disable this device
  • Small-scale - Not designed to counter clouds of enemies, can only handle so much at a time
  • Short range - Effective at dogfight ranges only
DESCRIPTION
Dogfights between capable pilots are dangerous occurrences, and the more entities involved the more dangerous it gets. When a pilot focuses in on a single enemy they open themselves to focus by others in turn; they thus develop situational awareness or die. Technology can assist with keeping pilots alive in many ways, including attempts to disrupt enemy targeting.

With its expansion of starfighter models, TransGalMeg Industries decided to also develop components for vessels. Some are simple utilities, others are designed to save lives. The Ilcened sensor jammer falls under the latter category. The device is built on a starfighter scale and is designed to detect and thwart targeting sensors focusing on the host vessel. Given its small size and presumably limited power availability, engineers built it to work smarter. Rather than blanketing the field in high-powered broadband transmissions, the device detects attempts to target the opposing targeting sensor and piggybacks on the return signal, attempting to overwhelm signal with junk data. It was simple enough to add a alert feed from the unit capable of alerting the pilot when their craft was being targeted.

However, the small size and limited power result in the device only being able to actively jam two signals simultaneously. The expectation is that the opposing sensors will also be starfighter-based and have limited power, and will thus periodically 'ping' their target rather than have a constant feed running. If there is a constant feed running, it will dominate one of the two active jamming capabilities. It is simple to overwhelm the device with enough opposition.
