SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Colored to a deep red hue, these droids bright red photoreceptor 'eyes' and near-organic swagger combine to make an intimidating impression on anyone who sees them. A truth reinforced by their stern and cold human voices.
  • Extremely durable and resilient design, they are ideally suited to a variety of combat styles and lightsaber forms, having been programmed in Stava and all seven lightsaber forms, as well as basic piloting (starfighters and other small craft only), among other skills.
  • Heuristic combat learning programming enables droids to learn from experience and thus improve and extend their combat prowess.
  • Onboard shields, inspired by those used by Droideka, provide sturdy energy shields that allow the droids to fire their dart projectiles while remaining shielded.
  • Droids' weapon complement allows them to fight using unarmed combat, melee, and ranged weapons. Programming also has made them proficient with most small arms systems (i.e. blasters, slugthrowers, rail guns, etc.)
  • Terrific sensor package enables a variety of scanning and situational awareness not common to most droid types, even able to detect stealth fields in many circumstances.
STRENGTHS:
  • Designed in accordance with previous models, these droids are capable of performing extraordinary feats of agility, athleticism, and acrobatics and are possessed of strength, speed, and reflexes in excess of previous designs.
  • Programmed with hand-to-hand combat capability, in absence of melee weapons, they were developed using motion-capture photography, mimicking a Noghri expert’s performance of the techniques and forms used in Stava perfectly. Similarly, they were programmed to use the dual-bladed lightsaber in the same fashion, using motion-capture video of an expert Sith warrior.
  • Programmed to respond only to their respective VIPs, the droids are singularly loyal and will not take commands from any other individual, and are well protected against slicers.
  • Highly resilient against many forms of damage, these droids are capable of continuing to the fight and adapt even when their limbs and heads are lost due to their advanced combat learning programs and their key systems being redundant and distributed on either side of the droid’s torso. This means that even split in two, the droids will attempt to fight on, and if it loses an appendage or should one become damaged, the droid will adapt and compensate for this reduced capacity and continue on its mission.
  • Programming also allows for them pilot small craft, such as starfighters, small shuttlecraft, speeders, personal submersible vehicles, etc. and to operate other machines and technology ably, doing so competently – though not to same degree as a sentient organic being might as they lack the creativity and depend heavily on their advanced programming and heuristic learning to develop their skills. A droid with enough simulator time however, will be a most adequate pilot under general circumstances
WEAKNESSES:
  • While droids’ heuristic programming allows them improve and develop skills though practice and experience, they lack the creativity of organic sentient and can only perform within the confines of that programming and experience.
  • Droids are not particle shielded, and thus subject to kinetic damage and projectile weapons as well as attacks by Force Users.
  • Droids – when utilizing their piloting programming – are merely competent pilots, and would not last long against veteran organic pilots in aerial combat, neither can they operate starships above 50m in length.
  • Droids are not stealthy whatsoever, due to their blood-red coloring, size, weight, and general demeanor, and any attempt to utilize them in a clandestine or surreptitious manner would likely end quickly and badly for them.
  • Trained in all seven lightsaber forms using motion-capture technology to mimic techniques and styles of master dualists, the droids are unable to quite master the slight nuances of movements which require organic or close =-mimicry thereof, and may lack some of the sophistication of a master dualist which can impact effectiveness of some techniques.
DESCRIPTION
When the Confederacy’s intelligence services began to learn of possible threats against Minister Locke and Deputy Minister T’shkali by anti-technology extremists, the warnings proved sufficient for the Ministry of Science to create an elite type of droid to protect its senior personnel. The choice for the design came from history, taking a cue from the elite bodyguard droids who protected General Grevious during the Clone Wars: The IG-100 MagnaGuard.

Recent innovations to the design, in the form of the Mark-II variants, paved the way for these new bodyguard droids. Further improvements were made, using Corellian Bloodsteel, in honor of Minister Locke’s Birthworld, and the applications of other materials to further the droids’ already impressive durability and resilience. Instead of electro-staves, the designers opted for dual-bladed lightsabers – the Sentinel Saber – to replace them, together with additions of two Scorpius Bracers, placing one of the powerful dart launcher / stun gloves on each hand of the droid. Motion-capture technology was used to program the droids in all seven forms of lightsaber combat and the vicious Stava martial arts system, used by Noghri bodyguards and assassins throughout history. A deflector shield generator, similar to those used by Droideka, was incorporated offering protection against energy weapons but still allowing the droids to use their ranged dart weapons.

The droids were assigned either to Minister Locke or Deputy Minister T’shkali, and keyed to obey orders only from their assigned VIP. Protected against slicing, the droids were capable of offering serious protection and held absolute loyalty to their protectees, even against Force Users. Their blood-red chassis and ‘dressed’ in blood-red shell spider silk tunics and short capes (which would not inhibit mobility or frustrate fighting techniques), together with red photoreceptors and cold, stern voices lent them an aura which was intimidating and inscrutable*.

*Any resemblance to Imperial Guards is coincidental and purely unintentional.
