GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Ifradeli
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Homeworld: Confracta
  • Language: The Old Tongue [Limited] | Confractan [Majority] | Basic [Limited]
  • Average Lifespan: 200 GSY
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: Ifradeli are thin and varying people, but always ethereally alluring. Often mistaken for faeries or something fantastical along those lines, their bioluminescence gives them an absolutely otherworldly appearance in the correct setting whilst maintaining enough of a standard Human appearance to blend in with the rest of galactic society should the need arise.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I | Ifradeli are used to thinner atmospheres and will struggle to adapt to anything thicker than their homeworld.
  • Average height of adults: Female Ifradli average around 1.7 meters, whilst males average 2 meters.
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Various hues of pale, tan, dark colours (‘Human’ colours)/Grey tones
  • Hair color: Black, White, Brown, Red, Blonde (‘Human’ colours)
  • Distinctions: All Ifradeli appear to have a coloured shift to them as a result of their bioluminescence. They’re slender and tall, almost willowy, with thin limbs and little muscle mass to speak of, and are easy to pick out of crowds due to their height and general near-translucent appearance. Their eyes also tend to be bright and clear colours like blue, green and yellow as opposed to brown, with brown-eyed Ifradeli being extremely rare. Their bodily fluids, including blood, are also entirely clear but grow cloudy with age.
  • Races:
Ifradeli: A normal Ifradeli, your bog standard, with ‘Human’ tones.
  • Grey Ifradeli: These Ifradeli are identical in every biological way to their normal brethren except for the fact their skin colour will only ever range from dark to light shades of grey.

[*]Strengths:
  • Bioluminescence: When presented with dark places, Ifradeli have the ability to generate their own light. Appearing most-often as a coloured ‘lit-from-within’ look from under their skin, they can focus this biological feature to provide light to themselves and others, about the amount of an average light bulb. Their skin also often turns greyer or more ashen in low-light areas to aid with the contrast of their glow. Certain Ifradeli are constantly grey and ashy and are referred to as Grey Ifradeli to make them distinct. Colours for the bioluminescence range from red to green to blue to purple to white, with black being the rarest and said to denote evil things. Their hair can also be affected by this biological phenomena. Half-Ifradeli can sometimes have a sheen to them, but only a full-blooded will have the full glowing effect. If a Grey Ifradeli and a normal Ifradeli have offspring, they will either inherit the Grey Ifradeli race or the Ifradeli race and will not blend between. When faced with natural sunlight, their skin often appears translucent as a result of this trait. Ifradeli can manipulate the glow across their skin to form temporary designs, though this requires years of intense meditation and training as it requires precise control over the bodily function. Ifradeli members of the Labyrinthian, Confracta/The Second Triumvirate's main religious organization, are notable practitioners of this. Idly, their eyes also seem to produce ambient light, though not enough to see with.
  • Natural Grace: Fellow Confractan species, the Cerevessians, refer to the Ifradeli as the definition of beauty even over members of their own people. A breed that is elegant by design, Ifradeli are aesthetically pleasing, symmetrical and make for excellent models, dancers, actors and artists as a result. Their movements have naturally been likened to dancing even whilst just doing everyday menial tasks. They are also a flighty, agile species, a trait left over from having to scamper through caves in their prehistoric forms.

[*]Weaknesses:
  • Frail Constitutions: The Ifradeli are a delicate people. They are prone to sickness, and as a result of their weak immune systems cannot consume Confracta’s popular substance, Maze, despite being expert cultivators of it. Their livers are undersized so they filter out toxins at a significantly slower and weaker rate than, say, Humans, which means they tend to stay away from alcohols or exposing themselves to dangerous environments without adequate protection. This weakness tends to make it so most Ifradeli do not wish to leave their homeworld, due to the fear of what they could catch out in the world, despite their systems being hardy enough to at least withstand a few galactic illnesses like the common cold. Their general 'weakness' makes them poor fighters unless aided by something like the Force or adequate technology.
  • Artificial Photosensitivity: Ifradeli people are extremely sensitive to artificial light produced by lamps, holograms, and headlights. To view these technologies for too long will provoke vicious headaches and, in extreme cases, provoke partial blindness that will require specialized therapy to correct. To counteract this, they employ special technology using bio-synthetic light and other specialized organisms to prevent harming their retinas, and have substitutes that work well and can communicate with other galactic technology. Natural sunlight is uncomfortable but will not harm them like the artificial light will.
  • Always A Rave: A Ifradeli cannot suppress their glow. At night or in shadows they will begin to illuminate whether they want to or not and will have to cover up to hide the light, which makes them poor at stealth involving using darkness or at least makes it a massive inconvenience.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Ifradeli are omnivorous and will eat both plants and game. They privately farm within the walls of their city-country Ifradel, producing foodstuffs to feed their nation.
  • Communication: Whilst the majority of communication is through vocalization, Ifradeli can create light signals with their bioluminescence to silently indicate things to friends, enemies, or partners.
  • Technology level: The Ifradeli might be spacefaring, but they are uniquely technologically challenged in that they cannot use most, if any, technology from the other sectors of the galaxy if it produces artificial light. This is due to the pain it causes their eyes. Therefore, Ifradeli are forced to reverse-engineer most of not all foreign technology in order for it to be compatible with their biology.
  • Religion/Beliefs: Ifradeli, like the rest of Confracta, follow the Labyrinthian as a religious and Force order. They do not believe in one god or a pantheon, but they believe heavily in reincarnation and life after death. To die and become the home of a Maze bloom in the city of Necropolis is considered rebirth.
  • General behavior: It's a rare sight to see an Ifradeli living outside of their city, Ifradel. Most will live, serve and die behind the high walls of their beloved city-nation simply due to the vast amount of territory it occupies. Those who do leave end up either doing so to serve the Labyrinthian or the Second Triumvirate itself either in a pacifist or military leader role, as they are mostly unfit for combat. Ifradeli are social and enjoy the interaction, finding lifetime mates young and raising offspring in family units. Force-sensitive children are sent to the Labyrinthian in Necropolis, like all other members of the Triumvirate. Exemptions to that rule are Force-sensitive children of noble Ifradeli families or the High family, Vacaryn, who believe their mandate to lead the Ifradeli people comes before obligation of Labyrinthian. Those who chose to be educated, however, are, and are free to return to their birthright duties whenever they please. Ifradeli also have close historical ties with the Cerevessians of the Cerevessian Republic, and members of both make easy friends.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Ifradeli are native to the planet Confracta unlike some members of the Second Triumvirate, giving then a specific affinity with the world. They evolved from massive caves found underground on the western continent, beginning as blind but developing bioluminescent capabilities that granted them eyesight (Though a certain sensitivity remained to types of light). Upon emerging from their rocky womb into the bleak work of Confracta, they quickly adjusted to the fact there was now a sun and began to build. They built and built and built-- Legends claim the Ifradeli build for over a thousand years --before they finally stopped, the City of Ifradel standing as a testament to the species' creativity. This would be the artificial land they would settle.

As technology developed, so did the people; A 'round-robin' ruling system would come to rule both the city and the species, among five noble families. Vacaryn, Dorlen, Naxxremis, Cartoris and Thexina would each pass the High Crown & Throne to the eldest child of each family once a previous ruler had died or stepped down. This practice was abolished in 3701 BBY when the Vacaryn Queen of the time, the first Alaysia, led a coup with House Valeport of the Cerevessian Republic to install her family as the monarchal ruling faction of Ifradel, demoting the others to minor nobles. This would lead to the formation of the First Triumvirate, with the newly-minted High Ruler of Ifradel as one of the three heads.

From there on out things were fairly simple. The isolation of the Unknown Regions meant the Ifradeli were spared the worst of major galactic events, though they were some tense encounters with Chiss, who could also navigate the region. It was during one of these meetings that an infected Chiss would spread the worst gift possible to the Ifradeli, and, by extension, the Triumvirate; The Gulag plague. The disease would strick the Ifradeli particularly hard, to the point their species has yet to recover even today. Millions dying in an instant due to Ifradel being such a tightly-packed city making the spread stupidly easy, and due to their frail constitutions giving the plague an easy time of it burning their systems out. Those who survived did so by moving back into the caverns under the city, planting Maze on those who had died in order to ensure the survival of their customs and to recover emotionally from the overwhelming death.

Following the 400-year Darkness, the Ifradeli emerged once more to their shining city, which had been abandoned for four centuries and required extensive repairs. Reconnecting with their allies the Cerevessian Republic and recalling the Illasian Aristocracy from the moon, the Second Triumvirate was founded and has continued on up until the present day. The Vacaryn line has continued and survived throughout the plague, the Darkness and the Netherworld crisis, the current head of the family being [member=Alaysia Vacaryn].
