Exhausted by his own audacity, Balke ran his hand over his face like this was the end of an all-nighter. This planet had been conquered by the One Sith, occupied -- and stripped by the Jedi before that. "Might as well call it a pebble for all it's worth," he grumbled to himself, a non-sequitur he didn't bother to explain. His Barabel copilot grunted but made no response.

Few things were more disheartening than this. It had taken him a month to even get to Tython, one nailbiting jump at a time, and another week to coast to the inner system past the patrols. And now he found the planet pretty much empty, occupied in a boring sort of possessive way -- the kind of planetary possession that always infuriated him.

On the plus side, that was Spencer fething Jacobs meditating down there. Balke slipped in active-cancellation earplugs, then put on larger ear protection and hefted two sonic weapons. One was an omnidirectional projector, the other a directional hard-sound gun. He slung the former over the back of his flak jacket and aimed the latter, but didn't fire.

"Keep any kind of malice or triumph out of your head," he said to Steng. "She'll sense mine if she hasn't already, and I'm going to occupy the feth out of her. That's when you take the shot." The Barabel nodded and finished putting together his sniper blastrifle, then loped off into the rocky crags.

Balke headed down through the hills toward the broken temple where the blonde was meditating.

Spencer had been meditating for sometime now. She always returned to Tython when she felt out of balance, coming here provided her with lessons of old and a renewed sense of being. Everything was clear on the planet, it was happy for the most part. Most planets weren't like Tython, their force balance didn't matter as much as it did for Tython. Inhaling she remembered old stories and the old code. She followed it unlike the others Bd she hoped she was capable of passing it down to her daughter.

The peace was shattered and she quickly felt the ill intentions of someone. Despite this she remained in her meditation position, it was better to be prepared but not look it than to alarm the attacker and put yourself in a haste. The sun reflected against her armor and her weapon remained clipped to her side. There was nothing more she needed at the time for a fight.

So she waited searching to pin point any other beings in the area. Sensing was another benefit to her position. The woman had sensed the area and familiarized herself with the surroundings. If there was another and she was pretty sure there was she would be able to spot them. So, to Mr. Balke she seemed unphased by his sudden appearance.

Whether she was aware of him remained an open question, but if he focused too hard on that question, a lot of very important things would fall by the wayside.

Showtime.

Balke broke into a dead sprint, as fast as he could manage. He doubled her body weight easily, even before the gear, and wasn't all that much taller. What mattered was listening to the Force for the right moment, the point of no return-

There. Now.

Still running, he toggled the omnidirectional sonic projector and fired the hard-sound gun. Even through two layers of active cancellation, the atonal screech of military-grade sonic weaponry set his teeth on edge. An incipient headache set up camp behind his eyebrows.
