Strengths:
  • Energy Dispersal: A combination of the wearer's body glove and the plastoid construction of the body armor protected the wearer from variety of personal civilian and military grade blaster bolts, dispersing the energy of the shot without killing the wearer, though they would become incapacitated. This allowed for emergency treatment of the wearer if they survived, though the shock of direct hits to the head or near the heart and lungs could still kill the wearer.
  • Slugthrower Begone: Use of plastoid and Flex-Armor protects the wearer against most slugthrowers.
  • Body Glove Doctor: The body glove keeps the wearer warm and gives some protection from radiation. It regulates the wearer's temperature during times of extreme stress and can even be used as a compression sleeve in dire situations.
Weaknesses:
  • Slaughter Fodder: The armor is made for front line soldiers to fight other front line soldiers. As such, the armor is no more resistant to heavy arms fire such as mortars, cannon fire, or high energy plasma weapons than any other armor.
  • Exotic Weaponry: As standard rank and file armor the level of protection provided is for common battlefield threats. Thus exotic weapons such as sonic weapons and the high energy blasts of weapons like Blastswords and most high powered black market weapons and high powered sniper rifles damage and kill the wearer more easily than conventional military weaponry.
  • Lightsabers: Nuff said

The IF/IE-A02A Combat Armor is the second iteration of battle ready armor developed and designed by Iron Fury Industries. Mass produced for the growing imperial forces not much was changed from the original armor. The greatest change came in the form of weight lost. Coming directly from the One Sith, the previous armor kept some design cues from the Sith ruled imperial faction. Darker colors and sharper edges as well as the ever menacing horns added additional weight that at the time aided the Iron Empire in their goal of carving out a space for themselves in the Galaxy, creating an imposing image that said "Do not kark with us", though that was mostly by accident as the armor was a hastily put together for a military force. However, as the budding empire began to grow and more planets became part of it, the menacing dark armor became a symbol of oppression that the Chiss Rebels used frequently in their recruitment. An image change was in order.

Forgoing the sharp, horned imagery of days past, the new armor resembled something more neutral and organized. Rather than soldiers of a monstrous bloody empire or a ragtag fighting force, the new soldiers of the Iron Empire looked more noble and duty driven to protect the people rather than force new worlds under their rule like their parent faction. Less materials in the construction of horns and sharp shoulder pauldrons actually cut down the cost of bulk production significantly as well as the weight of the armor itself. The armor also provided a little more flexibility for the soldiers while also proving to be better at keeping soldiers warm on their new home planet than its previous iteration. While not a total upgrade from the previous version, for better or for worse, the IF/IE-A02A has become the standard issue armor for the men and women fighting for the Iron Empire.

If you're looking to provide an updated version of the previously cited armor, which was rated at the time as Quality 7, the ratings here are stretching that boundary for something mass produced. I would suggest one of two things:
  1. Reduce the 'Very High' rating for kinetic damage to 'High' OR
  2. Drop production to limited.
