Description:
(+) Allows high-precision maneuvering
(+) Low-profile design allows operation in confined spaces; when everyone else had to leave their speeder at the door, you walked right on in with yours
(+) Small emergency reactive repulsor cushions falls
(+/-) May not be safely compatible with jetpack - not a combination recommended for anyone short of Mandalorian Rally Master or equivalent experience with relevant technology
(-) Requires special training (RP'ed in 10+ posts)
(-) Quite slow as repulsorlift vehicles go
(-) Quite fragile as vehicles go
(-) Limited power supply gives only five hours of sustained flight
(-) Low vertical ceiling (<200m)
(-) Though armored, and can be strapped to limbs/torso, connective umbilicals can be vulnerable to snags
(-) Bad luck, crosswinds, birds or inexperience can kill the operator very dead.
(-) May cause complications for, or be complicated by, wearing armor or bulky clothing.
(-) Vulnerable to debris, ion blasts, electric shocks, and EMP.
The Razorhawk Maneuvering System was initially designed as a wearable emergency maneuvering system for spacers, compatible with the Dragonskin Shipsuit. Designers quickly realized, however, that the Razorhawk could be marketed as a personal entertainment system, bringing (limited) flight to the (wealthy) masses, or even as an aid to construction workers on high-risk vertical projects.
The Razorhawk is designed to preserve hand, foot, and elbow dexterity; it does not cover the shoulder or the knee. It provides highly unimpressive protection to its operator (comparable to Class 3 armor). In form, the Razorhawk comprises one belt or torso pack, two arm sheath modules, and two leg sheath modules, all connected by high-durability cables which can strap to the operator's limbs and torso. Each of the four main modules can be adjusted to fit over bulky clothing, some forms of armor, and a space suit, including the rapidly-expanding Dragonskin if properly calibrated. Controls are managed through a plate on the left wrist, and through biofeedback recognizance managed by a dedicated, specialized droid processor. Despite its low top speed, the Razorhawk is arguably the most dangerous personal hybrid speeder on the market -- 'a swoop, but you're flying headfirst'.
