Question I Wanna Do Bounty Hunting Stuff... what equipment do I need?

Realistically, OOC communication.

No one will let you take them if they don't want to.

IC, a decent set of armor, and a plan. Regardless of what you use, the opposition will only take what they want to. Don't go into a hunting thread looking to surprise your opponent with anything funky, and expect them to take it.

I've jumped a few characters, and it always comes down to 'is this a cool story I wanna tell?'

If the answer is no, it won't matter what gear you got.

The best thing of course is hostages.

For catching Jedi or good guy characters, this is a fun one.

But most of all, I'd say a clever and interesting plan. It'll be different for everybody but I'd rather be captured by someone who pokes me with a cool idea that sets up a story, than someone who throws 20 factory sub links at me.

So gear wise, I'd say just have the basics. A weapon, a vehicle, maybe a droid companion. Anything else is extra to tell a certain story

A plan on how to get your bounty from where they are to where you want them to be once they're captured is an often overlooked and essential detail. You're now in possession of a dangerous prisoner in the middle of what is potentially a non-permissive environment.

Which is to say that metatextually I think that getting your bounty offworld is just as fun as getting the bounty in the first place, and provides opportunities for even more cat and mouse stuff en route. (Or even other bounty hunters to try to steal your prize)

Waterwalking Varadboots
Enough to tailor yourself to your opponent, loading up more depending on who you are fighting.

Plenty of stun gear, netting, wrist darts, pistols, and grenades to immobilize, most bounties are non-lethal.
Ion gear for droids/shields
Stealth, jammers and decoys to get away, or another escape route planned out. Holoprojectors, smoke, stealth ship or a quick ship.

Have to think about entry and escape with the target.

Sniper rifles or traps for lethal kills. Almost nobody will let you one-shot them, but its part of the work to setup ambushes, take out their guards etc. Tensor Tractor weaponry is still the nastiest for organic targets, imho, but it's OP'd for anything but big stuff.
Oh and good armor of course or some shield generators.
