Production has reached peak efficiency after we moved our operations out of the Unknown Regions and away from First Order space. I am still worried of the repercussions following my recent defection to the Galactic Alliance, but I maintain the fact that I've made the right choice. After all, I did this for my daughter, it's been years since we've seen each other and I'm not sure how she will respond to me, especially after my service in the Order, the polar opposite of the Alliance. I am, though, extremely proud that she has harnessed her sensitivity to the Force and is training to become a Jedi Knight, her mother would be proud as well...

Enough of that.

IES recently unveiled the Dreadnaught-class MKII Heavy Cruiser, they are practically and literally flying off of the shelves. Heavily armed, compact, and at a fair price, the company has made tens of millions of credits from their purchase alone in a matter of days. Part of me is still hoping for the chance for IES to recreate the Imperator-class Star Destroyers, the mainline vessels of the Galactic Empire that struck fear into the Galaxy. I've had no success in being able to recreate the IDX plans for our benefit, they were locked down tight by the Order the moment I designed it. I'm thinking of retracing the steps I made to invent the ship in the first place, the capture of an old Imperial II-class.

I've had probe droids deployed across the galaxy and set our acquisitions department on finding one on both legal and illegal markets. I've got to have that damn destroyer!

They found it! They karking found it!

The scanning station from one of our operations on Alzoc III pinpointed a large metallic object floating through the Silken Asteroids nearby. Reports estimate its length at sixteen-hundred meters, everything else checks it out as an Imperator-class Star Destroyer! This is huge, if we recover the star destroyer and reverse engineer it, we can begin reproducing it! I'll be accompanying a salvage team to the asteroid field, it's treacherous but any decent captain can get their ship unscathed through a field, I've done it multiple times during multiple wars. The real trick is to vaporize the bloodied things before they get too close.

--------------------------------------------------------

We've loaded up a couple of Dreadnaught classes along with several repair-ships to speed things along. I'll be captaining one of the ships along with the rest of the fleet, I may be old and the owner but I've still got it, at least for another couple of decades. We're powering up the hyperdrive now, our navicomputers have been set to a point outside of the asteroids so we don't revert with a massive rock crashing into our bridge. The crew is a little anxious, but they'll get over it in time, things like this come naturally after a few years.

Jumping to lightspeed in about a minute, so just for good luck I'll say this;

For the Empire!

We've arrived about two hundred kilometers away from the asteroid field. Scans indicate a high volume of ore within the field, once we're done with our current mission I'll speak with some people about expanding our operations to the field, we already have shipyards in the Vergesso field so this may not be as difficult as it seems. The station on Alzoc III was indeed correct, com-scan detected a large durasteel object floating within a rather stable section of the field, we're going to send out fighters to confirm this.

I saw the strangest thing out of the bridge viewports soon after we arrived, I could've sworn that I spotted a small corvette peering at us from within the field. Scanners didn't seem to pick it up though, but the entire crew is on alert and the gunners have reported to their stations. Just because something does not appear so does not mean that it isn't. There is only one type of people that would dare make an asteroid field their home.

Pirates.

We sent our fighter squadrons into the field earlier last night. I, being the old man, retired to my quarters afterwards entrusting the coordination of the fighters to my first officer and the other captains of the fleet. I awoke several hours later to a minor fiasco, three fighters had been destroyed in the field but the most interesting part was that before the communications cut out we heard the sound of laser fire. My suspicious have been confirmed, there are indeed pirates or some other hostile force in this field. We've called the fighters back to recuperate while we plan our strategy.

I personally ruled out any idea that involved drawing the enemy out of the field to engage. If they're smart enough to colonize the asteroid field, they're smart enough to know that it's an advantage. We're going to have to move the combat ships into the field to engage and clear out this infestation, I'm already suspecting that the star destroyer we've found is the their main base of operations, why else would it be so perfectly preserved n the middle of an asteroid field?

This is going to be a hard-fought battle, the risks are great but the rewards are greater.

The fleet is going to move into the field soon, a battle plan has been agreed on by all of the captains including myself. We have a total of three Dreadnaught-class MKII Heavy Cruiser along with six Delta-class JV-9 Escort Shuttles. The Dreadnaughts will be moving in a compact cluster towards the portion of the field where we detected the star destroyer, while the Deltas will be on the far flanks, sweeping for any surprises that the pirates may try to pull on our cruisers. The remaining fighters that we have will be ready to launch at a moments notice from their respective hangars. I am certain that the sheer amount of turbolasers that the cruisers have will be more than enough to combat asteroids and especially pirates.

We're moving out now, I'll need to head to the bridge to take direct command. I suspect I'll need to micromanage the fleet due to the general inexperience of the crew when it comes to space battles within close quarters such as asteroids field. A battle-hardened rear admiral is more than enough to compensate.

We've had our first encounter of the enemy. A corvette appeared out of nowhere behind our fleet, along with a good two squadrons-worth of black market snubfighters. The initial turbolaser barrage from the heavy corvette scared the poodoo out of the bridge crew. I understand this, I myself am even on-edge, three large targets for greedy pirates who seem to melt into the surrounding asteroids. Anyway, it only took around five seconds for the turbolasers within the 'blisters' of the Dreadnaughts to swing around and vaporize the corvette. Our escort shuttles made quick work of the snubfighters, they took heavy causalities while we came out unscathed.

According to our navicomputers, we are about halfway to the destroyer, though our sensors are becoming more and more scrambled due to the presence of so many fast-moving asteroids. There may also be some sort of nebulae within this field, but we can't know for sure unless we see it.

I can already see the star destroyer in the distance. Our close-range scanners are now detecting multiple ships surrounding the durasteel hulk. Two of them were medium-sized, suspected to be frigates, while there are numerous corvettes and fighters as well. Power has been detected flowing throughout the star destroyer, we've confirmed it as an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, the power flow means that the weapons could be active as well. If I recall correctly, the Imperial II had quite a few turbolaser and ion cannon batteries, as well as individual long range cannons.

With this new information, the crews are getting a little angsty about going up against a superior force. But it's not about the numbers, it's about the captain commanding the whole thing. Pirate warlords are not the smartest of naval commanders, they believe brute force is a viable alternative towards strategic thinking, I suppose I should give them credit, fitting this entire fleet into an asteroid field.

Hmpf.

The fleet engaged the pirates about a solid hour ago. Our battle plan was perfectly executed, the Dreadnaught convoy rushed in behind the star destroyer and vaporized an enemy frigate before they could react. Escort shuttles flew by in attack runs and took out a good amount of the corvettes and fighters while the heavy cruisers dealt with the frigate and the star destroyer. The battle was a grand victory but we lost a couple of the escort shuttles and one of the dreadnaughts was heavily damaged in the firefight. There still remains boarding the star destroyer and taking control, I suggested that, with precision, we target the life support systems of the destroyer and let the pirates aboard asphyxiate to death.

I am torn.

Is it a wise idea to let my career in the Galactic Alliance start off with letting thousands of beings, albeit pirates, die slowly and rather painfully? I will have to consider this carefully, in the end it is never just good or bad, but this time it feels like it.

The ship is ours. I decided to take the 'light' route and board the ship and take prisoners. We severely overestimated their numbers, what was thought to be the minimal crew of five thousand turned out to be around seven hundred pirate. Our marines boarded the vessel effortlessly and allowed out engineers to make it to the bridge of the vessel to see what needed to be done in order to get this ship out of the field and back to the shipyards. Already I'm being told that the dreadnaughts will need to tractor the destroy out so they didn't have to worry about asteroids 'impeding' their work. The hyperdrive itself is in an extreme state of disrepair, it'll take perhaps a day or two to make the necessary repairs since we have the parts on one of the repair ships.

But that isn't even the most interesting part. The datalogs on the bridge gave us the operating number of the star destroyer, CVS 1401, which we cross-checked with our current Imperial data records. This ship is the Avenger! One of the most prestigious ships that served during the Galactic Civil War, probably second only to the Chimaera herself. According to our records, the Avenger participated in numerous battles, including the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor, surviving throughout the Imperial Civil War that followed with few other ships that served in Lord Darth Vader's infamous Death Squadron.

This is my ship, I know it already. This will be my flagship until I die, because those kriffing First Order types or whoever else will have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

We just returned to the shipyards in the Vergesso Asteroid field around half an hour ago. The engineers we brought along with the repair ship managed to repair the Avenger enough for a quick hyperspace jump here after we tractored this beautiful thing out of the Silken Asteroid field. Currently it's being piloted into one of our docks, where we'll retrofit it and repair the injuries it sustained over the centuries. Once it's completed to the highest standards, we'll paint a big 'ol Alliance starbird on the port and starboard sections and register it with the GADF Navy, the ship will still retain the name Avenger, as I believe that if someone has an issue with something that this ship did eight hundred years ago, they can bring it up with me.

I almost forgot to mention, after this ship is fully repaired, our engineers are going to completely map it technically so we can hopefully start producing retrofitted Imperial II-classes for sale to the denizens of the galaxy.

This will be my last log for this mission, as I want to start indexing my logs properly so people can't call me out on not keeping information.

CEO Tanomas Graf, Imperial Elite Shipyards, signing out.
