OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Landmark Name: Hyliand/Great Dividing range
  • Classification: Hills/High land
  • Location: Tythe
  • Affiliation The land is under the leadership of the Imperium of Tythe
  • Size: Massive- spanning most of the northern hemisphere of the planet cutting the sprawling flats in two
  • Population: Sparse, many scattered towns and villages
  • Demographics: Humans, Twileks and other immigrant
  • Accessibility: Easily accessible by foot or any other mode of transportation
  • Description: Hyliand is a large, long but not overly steep high land stretching from just below the equator all the way north, separating the Sarpin wastes Carida regions, its over alll shape similar toan old mercury thermometer with a large base and the tip hooking east before petering out.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Hylia range: The main and highest area on the hill range making up 60% of the region streaking from north to south, some natural vegetation grows here along with some natural run off generated rivers that flow west to the Carida region. The majority of the lands population inhabit the different downs and villages spanning it's length though uneven ground and land slide prone areas prevent further development, though several hydrodynamics have been set up to make the most out of the naturally flowing rivers, even if most of the water is contaminated.
  • Hook Peak: The northern point of the Hyliand that hooks east above the Sarpin waste lands it's northern location leading to snow fall along with having the most natural vegetation and housing the capital of it's region Entrubra. Such capital city is home to a rather hardy and loud mouth folk. The rugged terrain and colder conditions being ideal for those used to living in similar conditions. Such an environment being an ideal area for training scouts with expert wilderness survival skills which has also contributed to one for the planets main military bases being found here among the hill ranges near the capital.
Ball Point: Southern end of the range that forms a massive ball like hill range which is the site for one of the large mining ruins left over from before the clone wars. Due to lack of any care or maintenance since the planet was abandoned chemicals, rust and other substance have contaminated a large portion of this area. For the time being imperial guard units have quarantined the area preventing entry and keeping anything dangerous contained.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The hill range that formed Hyliand is actually a fairly new occurrence for the plant, being produced by two tectonic plates shifting slightly over the last hundred years pushing slowly up to form the uneven and bumpy region. This accounts for it's north to south like nature, forming a natural distinction between the plates and the two other regions bordering it's side. Though there is a present danger of the plates shifting again which could result in an earthquake the natural flowing water in this area from rainfall and the possibility of military applications slowly lead to it being settled. Still, due to the less then comfortable landscape and present natural danger only those of certain mindset have taken up residence here resulting in the over all populous to be rough around the edges quickly developing their own culture, independent of it's neighboring regions.

As of current the Hyliand is mainly used for military purposes and electrical production, though plans are underway to set up water purification centers along the range to turn the red contaminated water potable again for general use among the civilians. As for now their is a water restriction on people living in the area, meaning that 'alternative' beverages are more prominent, mainly alcoholic ones helping to mold the hardy culture of the region even further.
