DESCRIPTION

The Hydian-Wyl HW-44 is an ultra-compact blaster carbine designed and manufactured in secret for use by the Sith Covenant. It contains all the expected features and characteristics of your contemporary blaster carbine, but in a much smaller form factor, making it quite useful as a close-quarters weapon. Whether that means fighting in urban combat or clearing hallways.

Hydian-Wyl weapons designers paid close attention to the 44’s performance during trial runs. They discovered a few details that ultimately went into the final design. First, they found the inclusion of a weapon stock provided minimal improvements to accuracy and range. So it was removed from standard production to shave some weight. Second, they were able to reduce the overall recoil by readjusting the weight distribution and the distance between the fore-and-rear grips. And finally, the design of the barrel shroud was altered to increase thermal exchange, thus allowing a higher energy output, which translates into more damage.

First deployed to tactical squads and security forces, the HW-44 quickly impressed the Sith Covenant’s military decision makers, and the blaster carbine soon found its way into the hands of ordinary troops. The design is also standard enough that the HW-44 can equip any attachments meant for a blaster of its type. So, it isn’t terribly uncommon to find them with aftermarket stocks, lengthened barrels, scopes, and other modifications.
