OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a powerful weapon technology to give Mandal Hypernautics an edge in the market
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • N/A
STRENGTHS
  • Ignores Shields: Due to the special properties of the Hurrikaine Crystals any weapon utilizing a Hurrikaine Lense is able to completely bypass energy shielding appropriate for the weapon. Personal firearms able to pierce personal shields and turbolaser batteries able to pierce through capital ship shields and lesser tiers.
WEAKNESSES
  • Diluted Energy: Because of the nature of the lense any energy going through it is partially depleted making the weapon do less damage then a similar weapon without the lense.
DESCRIPTION

The Hurrikaine Lense is the first attempt by Mandal Hypernautics to develop a unique technology able to out compete rivals on the galactic stage. This will hopefully give the Mandalorian Empire a big enough boon to deter rivals from serious conflict.

The lense is created through machine-precision carving of Hurrikaine Crystals into a advanced circular lenses which can be fitted into blaster weaponry. Any blaster bolt from a weapon using one of these lenses passed through enemy's shields and are easily distinguishable by their bright purple coloraiton

So, while I love the idea of shield piercing weaponry, the mention of "ANY" shielding will not fly through the factory.

If you mention that it can only pierce through personal shielding, due to the power output of a lightsaber being MUCH smaller than that of any kind of larger weaponry and shielding such as ships, then I would be okay with this.

Secondly, as this is Lightsaber technology this will be limited to Semi-Unique production.

Third, Please make mention that this is only able to be put onto Lightsabers in the hand held variety and that it can't be used for other weapons.

Not going to have a Lightsaber that can pierce through Capitol Ship grade shielding.

This isn't really lightsaber tech, more taking the effects of the crystal which have been observed in lightsabers and moving it over to blasters, cannons, etc. The idea is to mount these on turbolaser batteries to be able to ignore capital ship shields.

I've changed the Strength to clarify some more of the limitations of the weapon. Personal weaponry can't get through ship shields but ship weaponry could.

Alright. Here is where I am at.
  1. You state its not Lightsaber technology, but it is in-fact, Lightsaber Tech. Its a crystal that is used for Lightsabers mentioning its ability to deal heavy damage and penetrate defenses. While the Wiki stub provided mentions "When used in lightsabers, they created blades that were very good at penetrating defenses." Specifically when used in Lightsabers. No mention of other weaponry. Thus, I have to follow the rules of being Lightsaber technology and it would have to be Semi-unique production.
  2. The vagueness of how this lens performs this effect, and the extrapolation of "Does heavy damage/good penetration" to full blown "Completely bypass Shielding systems" on weaponry that would be used for Capitol grade weaponry, is a no go for me.
  3. The edit of a singular sentence of just "Its used for ranged weapons" in summary will not be enough to offset the massive strength that is bypassing shields, with no real discernable weaknesses. When using Capitol grade weaponry to bypass shields, its still doing massive damage to anything less than a vessel that was meant to withstand capitol grade.
Because of these things, I am not comfortable with approving this submission. It will be denied.

Should you choose to attempt to make something like this again, I want to see much more depth in the submission, without using the vagueness of the Wiki to be extrapolated to be a definite, instead of just heavy damage.
