Strengths:

 • Treads: While tracks are a weakness they as double as a strength due to the fact that in a intense combat situation it is much more simple to replace a track than it is to try and repair a repulsor

 • Easily Repairable: The Hunter-class Main Battle Tank is a extremely simple tank to repair and due to it sharing many components with the Hunter-class Main Battle Tank spare parts are always available

 • Various Ammunition: Due to the Hunter-Class MBT’s use of a physical cannon it can use a wide variety of ammunition including its main five: High Explosive Anti-Tank, Armor Piercing Discarding Sabot Fin Stabilized, Shield Disabling Ion and Shaped Charge
Weaknesses:

 • Tracks: The Hunter-class Main Battle Tank relied on two sets of tracks which both restrict its movement and maneuverability. The Protector struggles in tight spaces as it does not have the freedom that a hovering tank would have.

 • Immobilized: If the Hunter’s tracks are destroyed it is unable to move, effectively immobilized on a the battlefield. The track must either be jury rigged or replaced for the tank to move once more.

 • Unstealthy: While tanks are not exactly the stealthiest of machines the Protector can be heard from a distance due to its metal tracks. Tearing and scraping across the land it is quite audible unless some forethought was given and the operators had equipped it with tracks which mixed both rubber, or some other compound, and metal.

DESCRIPTION:
The Hunter-class Main Battle Tank is the second in a line of three tanks designed by Hekler’Kok Defense Industries in an request by the New Republic in order to update their armory. While the Protector-class was designed to support infantry the Hunter-class was designed to go toe to toe with enemy tanks.

Originally the Hunter-class was supposed to have a completely different hull and turret than the Protector-class but due to the Protector-class taking up much funding it was decided to keep the hull the same but up-armor it and modify the turret design to better accommodate the different main armament. To keep research and development funding down as well it was decided that the same type of armor used in the Protector-class.

Once the hull and turret design as well as the armor that was to be used was decided upon the main armament needed to be chosen. Like the Protector-class various ideas were thrown around but at the end of the day it was decided the main armament would be a 125mm long-barreled high velocity rifled chemical-electro cannon. While the Hunter’s main armament is significantly smaller than the Protector’s caliber-wise it makes up for this due to the fact that it’s main armament propels its shells at a much higher velocity due to both the long length of the barrel and the fact that it uses not only a standard chemical propellant but the barrel is also lined with gauss coils enabling it to travel at even higher velocities therefore making it much easier to pierce enemy armored vehicles and giving the cannon a much longer range.

Next came the Hunter’s secondary armament and like before simple decisions were made. Again the designers at Hekler’Kok decided on a coaxial medium repeating blaster and a heavy repeating blaster housed in an fully enclosed commander's cupola. Unlike last time however the designers decided to add a unusual secondary weapon, a interchangeable either a surface-to-air missile pod or a ground-to-ground rocket pod.

The last step would be adding the special features of the tank. Like the Protector-class the Hunter-class had some obvious special features like a internal fire suppression system to stop fires inside the tank, a gyroscopic gun stabilizer to help the gun shoot more accurately on the move, an electronic turret traverse to help the turret traverse more quickly and a broadband radio antenna to help the crew stay in contact with the rest of their unit.

As well as the obvious features some less than obvious features were added into the Hunter-class. A backup generator in case the main generator fails, an autoloader to reduce the number of crew needed to operate the tank, advanced radio encryption equipment to prevent enemy forces from tapping into their comms, a advanced targeting system to help with targeting enemy tanks and three survival kits in case that the tank breaks down and can’t be repaired or it’s taken out of commission by enemy tanks.

The survival kits are basic consisting of a standard issue BR-1 rifle, six magazines for the rifle, a blast vest, a blast helmet, a first aid kit, an entrenching tool, two frag grenades, two smoke grenades and enough rations and water to last three days. It is worthy of note that while there is a designated space for all the survival kits but most crew elect to keep in near their station and often decide to wear the blast vest and helmet inside the tank to have slightly more protection.

It is worthy to note that during testing of the tank it was found out that if the proper equipment was around and the time available that the turret of a Hunter-class can be removed and mounted onto the hull of a Protector-class and vice-versa.

In all the Hunter-class has proved to be a tank that can go toe to toe with some of the best tanks in the galaxy.
