GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Hummingphant
Designation: Sentient
Origins:
Iego
Average Lifespan: 200-300 years, though poaching has shifted the general age range to about 50-80 years
Estimated Population: Scattered
Description: Hummingphants are the next step in adorable and a poster child of morality. Resembling miniature elephants, with the addition of wings and a bit more color, they bring a bit more of a fantastical vibe to the more mundane elephant silhouette.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Breathes: Type 1
Average Height of Adults: 60 cm
Average Length of Adults: N/A
Skin color: Gold, white, browns
Hair color: Gold, white, browns, sometimes tuffs of turquoise, pink, other bright colors
Distinctions: Wings are perhaps the clearest distinction between Hummingphants and just miniature elephants. While differences between male and female are few to the common eye, practiced zoologist or one of their own might identify wing size and shape as an indicator of sex. Likewise, any regional differences might be noted in the development of the ears.
Races: N/A
Force Sensitivity: All

Strengths:
Aura of Protection: Similar to the Ysalamiri's bubble of protection from the force, Hummingphants exude a much smaller, yet far more potent aura. Spanning 5 meters, the Hummingphants' innate bubble provides protection from most force abilities originating from outside the bubble's radius, while still allowing those within the bubble to use the force themselves.
Touch of Tusk: Said to contain a multitude of healing properties, Hummingphants are known also for their tusks. Outside of the general wound closure, or rather an affinity towards variations of
Force Healing with the capacity for finesse, shavings of the tusks also serve well in counteracting poisons.
We're Soaring, Flying: Yo, they can fly and it's their main mode of transportation.
Trumpet of Sparkles: While often limited to about 3 a day (5 with age) due to the exhaustive nature of the ability, their trunks are capable of emitting a stream of what appears to be iridescent glitter. While being covered in glitter may be torture enough to some, the glitter also has some corrosive properties, leaving one with chemical burns. These burns seem especially scathing to victims more maliciously aligned.
Divine Sense: Be it through actuality or just perceived wisdom, Hummingphants have been generally stereotyped as having a good grasp on morality and where an individual stands on the moral spectrum. Some might call it good intuition, others might call it varying degrees of
Force Sense. Dealer’s choice, really.

Weaknesses:
All for Another: While quite a support character in its own right, the Hummingphant cannot benefit from positive force abilities such as healing or battle meditation, unless the practitioner remains within 5 meters of the Hollyphant the entirety of the time it takes to channel that ability, as a direct result of their natural aura. Thus making an otherwise powerful defense an also very powerful double-edged sword.
Endangered: Due to the healing properties of their tusks and their bubble of protection, the Hummingphants have been hunted throughout the ages.
Faster in Flight: While sporting wings tends to make a creature quick on their feet, the Hummingphant still has a rather bulky body to contend with. Should their wings end up damaged, they're cut down to about a sixth of their flying speed.
Power through Time: Like many things, a Hummingphants’ abilities are only fully realized over time. A young Hummingphant would find itself forced to flee or rely on outside sources of protection.
Handle with Care: While granted a major boon in resistance to force abilities, Hummingphants are still very susceptible to physical attacks. Some might even be considered vulnerable, due to lack of experience with physical combat.

CULTURE
Diet: Herbivore
Communication: Telepathy, Basic
Technology level: Lack of thumbs and general interest leaves Hummingphants behind on the technological side. They're smart enough to use tech, but unless it's voice-activated or they can operate it with their trunk, there's not much they can use.
Religion/Beliefs: The Hummingphants are big on morality. While not common enough in history to properly be dubbed servants of the light, they do have a tendency to cling to those of the light side. They're supportive of the good-aligned, often annoyed yet mostly benevolent toward the neutral, and actively encourage others to fight the calls of evil. They'll work with lesser evils for the greater good if they have to, but they won't be happy about it.
General behavior: Typically pack animals, the Hummingphants tend to keep to their own, at least while raising their young. They maintain a fairly benevolent disposition toward outsiders, favoring peace and cooperation over conflict, though their hunted status complicates the matter.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Much like the Diathim and Maelibi that share their homeworld, the exact stories of how the Hummingphant came to be has been lost to time. Perhaps they were created by the whims of a powerful entity playing god. Or perhaps it was a series of random happenstances that lead to their evolution from something even older. A more common belief is that whatever created the Hummingphant did so with the Light Side of the Force in mind.

Believed to be small manifestations of the Light Side, the Hummingphant have spent most of their evolutionary life shrouded in mystery and relative seclusion on Iego. Before otherworldly interference, their population was kept in check by the Maelibi. After the fact, however, their population began a downward spiral towards the endangered status as they were hunted for their unique attributes. Rather than seek out the aid of a galactic power, the Hummingphant focused their efforts on seclusion, becoming more figures of myth than actuality.

This would change, however, at times when entities of the Dark Side would take over Iego. The Separatists of the Clone Wars in history, the Sith Empire in most recent times, to name a few examples. As the Dark Side corrupted their natural habitat, the Hummingphant would be drawn out of seclusion, some even venturing off world to escape the corruption.

Collector Collector Alrighty! Let's get this going. First off, great post. Imaginative. Good stuff altogether. Just some minor things we need to take care of.

Required:
You'll need to add some links here. Whether a related character, faction, species, location, or anything important to this sub.

Origins: Iego
Please Link this planet.

Aura of Protection: Similar to the Ysalamiri's bubble of protection from the force, Hummingphants exude a much smaller, yet far more powerful aura. Spanning 5 meters, the Hummingphants' bubble provides protection from most force abilities originating from outside the bubble, while still allowing those within the bubble to use the force themselves.
Please link the Ysalamiri either here or add them to the links section.

Diathim and Maelibi
Same with these. Please link them.

Force Sensitivity: All
You will have to add entries for All Force Sensitivity to Weaknesses and Strengths per the rule. Additionally, is Aura of Protection, if I am understanding this correctly, a racial ability this species is born with or is it an active they call upon from the Force? Please explain. Refer to the rule for aid.
Completely Force-sensitive species may not start off with fully developed Force Powers. That is a matter of the individual, not the race. They are born force sensitive, but that is a potential, rather than an absolute. All Force-sensitive species may have passive abilities that do not require training (improved reflexes, low-grade pre-cog, etc), but are prohibited from having active abilities (force lightning, telekinesis, etc). Exceptions are made for artificially engineered species (Sithspawn, etc), if they have been tailored for specific abilities. Racial abilities that are not affiliated with the Force (Ex. Zeltron Empathy/Pheromones) are exempted from this. These species should include appropriate weaknesses, such as difficulties with Force Null fields.

My Suggestions:
Trumpet of Sparkles: While often limited to about 3 a day (5 with age), their trunks are capable of emitting a stream of what appears to be iridescent glitter. While being covered in glitter may be torture enough to some, the glitter also has some corrosive properties, leaving one with chemical burns. These burns seem especially scathing to victims more maliciously aligned.
I would like to know more about this if possible. Why is it corrosive? Why do they have a limited casting?

Touch of Tusk: Said to contain a multitude of healing properties, Hummingphants are known also for their tusks. Outside of the general wound closure, shavings of the tusks also serve well in counteracting poisons.
Same with this. What types of healing properties? More importantly, why do they have healing properties? Keep in mind that these are mere suggestions rather than requirements.

All in all, good submission. Just take care of those requirements and we can continue on.

Links have been added along with attempts at rephrasing the aura, trumpet, tusks, and the 'All for Another' weakness to hopefully better articulate what I'm going for. The 'Aura of Protection' is meant as a racial feature more than active effect, with 'All for Another' being the direct trade-off/counter/what have you. If you have ideas for better ways to articulate, or feel listing it more as a racial ability eliminates the need to categorize them as all force sensitive, I'll be interested to know.

Collector Collector Thank you for the edits. I think what you have here is explanatory enough and I doubt it will become an issue in the future. If you decide on something you want to add to this sub, just put in a mod request and go about the process. Until such time, enjoy your species!
