Discussion How many languages does your character know well?

Basic, Binary, and Huttese; though I'd say her huttese is like some people's "kitchen spanish" in real life in that she knows enough to talk to people conversationally as they pertained to the jobs she did earlier in life but not fluent in the way you'd really find useful outside of the sort-of smuggling/underground setting in a working context.

Sometimes I like to include how my characters know so many languages. Otherwise it’s just nonsensical for a person who lives in a place that only or primarily speaks Basic to speak six different alien languages

Pal speaks basic and largely understands Huttese from years running in those types of circles. He knows a few basic Mando’a words or phrases from training and working with Mandos over the years, but he doesn’t speak or understand the language.

I think of it is as an American, I speak English and can have an elementary level conversation in Spanish. I know a few words or phrases in other languages like French and Italian, but it’s literally just a few words here or there for certain expressions; I would never be able to converse even at the level of a three year old.
