House Warming

This trip to Coruscant was not to investigate crime, scour the underbelly for gangs, or even take a leisurely stroll among the populace, this visit had a purpose. Only a day before, Verrin had come across a young teen abandoned in an alley. Not being one to just let such a thing go without doing something, he had offered his services the best he could and helped them get the young man to an apartment and out of the rain.

Verrin didn't get to talk to him much, and he wanted to check in and make sure he hadn't caught a fever from his time in the rain. Also, finding out more about more about the teenager would have been a welcome change. Stopping in front of the plain metal door, he reached out an pressed on the activated pad which would send a 'ring' through the apartment to let whoever was inside know they had a visitor.

Leon had spent the majority of his first day in the apartment either sleeping, or watching television. Who knew they had such good shows? One of them even made him laugh, as an HK unit hosted a cooking show. Later in the day, he was fast asleep again when he heard a ring emanate throughout the apartment. Getting up stiffly, he began stretching and yawning on his way to the door. Upon opening it, he saw none other than the man who had been so generous to him the night before, after being one of three who helped him out of the rain. Yawning softly, he smiled a little. "Hey there. You're still around?"

"Where else would I be?" Verrin offered with a small smile at the younger, and smaller, teenager. He was glad that he was there as otherwise he would have had to wait outside the door hoping he came back sooner then later. Looking down at Leon, he briefly wondered if he had been sleeping as his eyes seemed a little dull, "I don't think I ever introduced myself, don't think we really had the time," he said trying to make a small joke on their odd meeting.

"I am Verrin Ris'To, a Jedi Padawan, may I come in?" He asked leaning a little to see inside the apartment curious to see if he had done anything to change it or if he was taking it slow.

With a curt nod and a smile, Leon moved away from the door so Verrin could come in. "I really do appreciate what you did last night, Verrin. Not many are so kind." Looking at the other before he sat on the couch, he introduced himself. "I'm Leon, by the way. You can call me Leo if you want, doesn't really matter to me." He gave a light chuckle at that. He would have to get used to being called by both names, and not test subject 01493. He was starting a new life, at last. "By the way, I heard you use that term before. Jedi. What is a Jedi?"

@Verrin Ris'To

Verrin gave a small nod to Leon in return for the thanks. He never believed anyone should thank him as he only did what was right; Verrin liked to believe most people would do the right thing when given a chance, and while sometimes he was proven wrong, other times, like the night before, he had been proven correct as many people had gathered to help Leon, "Alright Leo," Verrin said getting a feel for the name, but Leon's next question caught him a little off guard as Leon didn't know who the Jedi were? While, in his travels, it wasn't surprising for people to not know what they did or truly were, most people had at least heard of their order.

"I suppose it would depend on who you asked," Verrin said thinking it over, "Some think we are magicians, others warriors, some as peace keepers, some as scholars, some as monks, and a few others think we are just odd people who enjoy wearing robes,"

Verrin stepped around Leon to get a look around the apartment, "But a Jedi feels the Force," he said looking back to Leon, "The life energy that flows through every living being, and with it, we can alter the environment and ourselves."

Leon listened intently, nodding a little as the Jedi talked. "So... You're monks. What's the force then?" The way the man had been explaining before, the boy realized what an idiot he must have sounded like. It seemed everyone apparently knew what these Jedi were. None could really blame Leon though, he'd been locked away the majority of his life.

Verrin smiled, "The force, as I mentioned earlier, is the life energy of the universe, but that does sound rather cryptic," he admitted to himself. Perhaps a demonstration would be better? Holding out his hand, he called for a small glass left on the table, pulling it to him and floating it above his hand, "With the force we can alter our environment, act upon things without touch them," Verrin said holding his hand out, the glass floating and spinning a few inches above his palm.

"We can feel it around us, sense it touching us and everyone around us. See things before they happen. Feel the emotions, and even thoughts of other people," Verrin flashed a smile, "But don't worry, I don't pry into the minds of others. I find it very, very rude."

Leon gazed at the glass in wonder, his eyes widening when it landed softly in the Jedi's hand. He was speechless. "W-what... That's incredible...." Trying to mimic the man, he reached his hand for the other glass for a few moments, but to no avail. Why couldn't he do it?

Verrin smiled at his own memory of how impressed he was the first time he saw a Jedi Padawan meditating, floating off the ground as the nearby chairs lifted as well. He was very eager, and from last night, Verrin knew he had the potential to use and feel the force, "You can do it," he said, "But it takes time to learn to do this. You have to start small. You need to be able to feel the force around you at any time before you can start using it to effect the environment."

"How do I do that? Feel the force, I mean. I wanna learn." Leon looked at the man, wondering just how something so simple could have such an impact on the world. It almost seemed impossible. After all, if the force was so powerful, why couldn't it help him remember why he was put into those strange labs? He had much more questions than he was asking, but he didn't think the force could answer them all, unfortunately.

Should he show him how to feel it? It would be better to try to bring him into the Order, but that was still something he was going to have to decide on his own. Teaching him would be the safer option as it would be dangerous if he were to accidentally use it without training he could cause a lot of damage to himself or those around him.

"Here sit on the floor with me," Verrin said sliding off the couch and onto the ground, crossing his legs and holding his hands to his side, "It is easier to feel in some places, but I will help you open your mind and feel it. Once you have consciously felt it; it becomes easier to do it again."
