STRENGTHS
We ALL drive this: Produced by the Leadership of House Io, it ensures that no one is without a fighting chance when an Enemy comes to their territory.
Tough Nut: Heavy shields and tough armor allow it to survive almost anywhere, a built in Healing Field Generator stabilizing and treating minor injuries suffered in about 14 minutes. Major injuries take up to seven hours to heal. It also contains a built in Stasis Field with a timer that can be set, allowing the occupants to preserve themselves in the event they find themselves in a situation they cannot escape easily. A built in miniature Molecular Furnace enables basic repair parts from scavenged materials. Also contains powerful radiation scrubbers.
I'm not afraid: Armed with Pulse Cannons that have three times the range of other cannons in this size category, as well as a rear facing continuous laser beam turret to frustrate enemy pursuit, backs by an undermounted Energy Torpedo turret.
Anytime, and almost anywhere: Capable of operating in highly unfriendly temperature extremes as well as acidic or even radioactive environments. It's even a submersible vessel, and all its weapons can function underwater also. It's underside is capable of magnetically adhering to any metallic surface.
I see everything: Much more sensitive and long range than a typical sensor suite in this category of vehicle, enabling it to detect gravitic anomalies, and other hazards such as radiation at long range.
WEAKNESSES
Middling Speed: Don't expect to outrun an interceptor.
Low Manueverability: Don't expect to out turn one either.
Much to learn, you still have: Underwater, it's primary weapon range drops to half.
Pulse Cannon Weakness: It's weapons fire so rapidly they overheat if fired more than 14 seconds in a row and must cool down for 21 if it happens.
Furnace Weakness: The Molecular Furnace built into the vessel takes about 14 hours to fabricate repair parts.
Radiation Weakness: Can only operate in heavily irradiated environments or acidic ones for up to 7 hours before it needs to decontaminate and head to a repair base.
Magnetic Weakness: While magnetizing itself to a surface, most of its systems are powered down to avoids detection, and it cannot use it's shields or weapons, leaving it highly vulnerable.
Missiles: It's armor and shields can suffer heavy damage from even weak missiles.
Accuracy drop: Though it's cannons have three times the range of normal cannons in this category, it's accuracy drops to a quarter at twice the range, relying more on blistering rates of fire...and potentially wasted shots.
Stasis Weakness: Can only keep occupants alive and preserved with stasis technology up to seven days if buried or submerged with no easy way of rescue.
Magnetics: Magnetic weapons shut down it's weapons for 14 Minutes until the system reboots
Seismic: It's shields are highly vulnerable to seismic weaponry.
Back Fire: The back firing laser turret can only fire seven seconds in a row before it needs 21 to recharge.
Jamming: It's combat sensors are susceptible to being heavily jammed, and opponents with more sophisticated Jamming Equipment can essentially force the pilot to fight blind and rely on eyesight.
Shield Regen Weakness: If both it's primary shields are depleted, it takes about 14 minutes to recharge them fully, leaving it highly vulnerable to Destruction.
One or the other: It cannot fire all it's weapons at the same time. If being chased, the pilot must decide whether to use it's rear laser cannon, or Energy Torpedo turret, as it cannot use it's primary pulse cannons due to power requirements when using the other two. In general it can only use one weapon at a time, and it takes fifteen seconds to transfer power for one weapon to the other, which can be an eternity in a fight.
Energy Torpedo Weakness: The Torpedo is dumbfired and slow in space, which limits it's use to large targets only, as it is very inaccurate otherwise.
Air Frame Damage: If the armor takes significant damage but survives, the engines are likely to be badly affected, reducing both it's speed and agility to very low.
Blind spot: It's sensor range as a blind spot directly under the craft, allowing a cunning enemy to attack from beneath with it unable to sense it until it's often too late. Also, it's shields are weakest at the bottom and front of the craft.
DESCRIPTION
Even the most basic transport of House Io has a potent bite to it. In an ever increasing effort to make attacking even the least of House Io's territory as unpleasant a prospect as possible, these armed all weather military air speeders were produced. Xiphos miniaturized lots of hardware, and used more efficient, modern manufacturing techniques to reduce costs. Able bodied pilots must have flash training in atmospheric combat before being permitted to use it. They are designed to maximize survival.
