OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: MandalTech
  • Model: N/A
  • Affiliation: Close-Market
  • Production: Semi-Unique
  • Material: The outer shell is comprised of a fairly thick duraplast plating, with plastoid covering the joints and an armorweave underlay.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Heavy power armor
  • Weight: 32kg
  • Resistances (For each category choose from: None, Very Low, Low, Average, High, Very High, Extreme Ratings of High, Very High, and Extreme will need to be added as strengths with elaboration.)
- Blasters (And other plasma type weapons): High
- Kinetic: High
- Lightsabers: Very High
- EMP: Low
- Elemental: Average

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Power pack in the back of the armor, giving power to the servomotors and the personnal shield generator. Protected from EMP by a reinforced casing that slightly limits movement.
  • High head display: The armor shines there; the helmet displays many helpful tools such as:
  • - A radar, able to scan from 50 to 200 meters, although it loses accuracy with range
  • - A aim assist system, helping the armor's user analyze the battlefield and adjust its aim.
  • - An ammo counter, tracking the ammunition in the weapon currently wielded by the user. Requires a connection with said weapon's interface first.
  • - Auto-injector, sending morphine or stims directly into the user's system when damage is inflicted.
Strengths:
  • Walking tank: The resistant materials of the armor make it a tough task to take down its user, requiring highly concentrated fire from blasters or slugthrowers.
  • Super-soldier: Servomotors increase the armor user's strength, making it a dangerous opponent, even without weaponry.
  • Force-User Killer: The armor was first designed to give its user a fighting chance against the powerful Sith and Jedi, and so it is equipped with a personal shield generator able to resist lightsaber damage enormously.
  • Can't Force This: Below the power pack is an Ysalamari compartment. It negates the use of the Force in a 5 meters radius.
Weaknesses:
  • Restricted Use: The armor requires its power pack to be intact to even function. Should an EMP hit the armor, it will shut down and effectively trap the user inside what is sure to soon become his tomb. Only an augmented individual might be able to operate the armor from this point on. Still, despite the fact that servomotors and high head display, along with the personal energy shield would now be unavailable, the protection the armor offers is still very much present.
  • Heavy maintenance: Although the armor is an impressive colossus, it comes with a cost; maintenance is expensive, lengthy, and requires such fine-tuning that it cannot be accomplished in a combat zone. The components are both expensive and rare, and their installation often requires for the armor to be reassembled - which is obviously unacceptable on the field.
  • Chirurgical strikes: The joints and the neck parts of the armor are covered in plastoid, and so they are a weak point that can be exploited by a marskman with enough talent to hit them. A high-powered sniper rifle would be especially devastating in this case.
  • Lizards aren't that strong: Should the compartment be damaged or the Ysalamari killed, the Force-negating effect will no longer apply.
DESCRIPTION
As the war between the Silver Jedi Order and the Sith Empire rages on, great minds at MandalTech worked on an equalizer that would benefit both, and yet neither sides; an armor designed for super-soldiers, created with the intent of bringing a powerful tool for Non Force Users against powerful Sith and Jedi masters and lords. The project progressed steadily thanks to the determination of the Mandalorians to create one of the greatest tools against their foes. Although the armor was finished quite early in time, it had to go through many revisions when its first users were killed in action; one of its massive flaws being that it wasn't able to protect much from blasters and slugthrowers, weaponry carried around by auxiliary troops that inevitable accompanied the force-wielding targets.

The whole armor was remade, the outer shell extremely reinforced to the point where using it now required the users to go through an intense augmentation program that would strengthen their bodies to even be able to use it. An energy shield was added to stop lightsaber strikes, and servomotors to allow the user to walk and run at normal speed despite the extreme weight of the armor. All in all, the Hoplite Mk II is a product that will never truly be finished; constantly updated to deal with the growing menace of force users, it wages an endless war in the hopes of tipping the scale in favor of non force users.

Sorry for the delay. Let's get this on the road then.

There are only a few things:

One, with durasteel plates I can't really see the armour having Extreme resistance to Lightsabre attacks, even with the energy shield. High or Very High would be more appropriate, though duraplast plates would make more sense with a very high rating.

Two, the weight is absurdly high. The source mentions the armour being around 18 kg, 320 kg is almost seventeen times that weight, and even with a powered exoskeleton and augmentations I find it hard to believe anyone could move around in it effectively, given Star Wars' tech level. Lowering the weight significantly would make it more believable, based off the source you give.

Third, in your first strength, you mention it would take extreme amounts of blaster/slugthrower fire to down the wearer even though your ratings and description suggest a more limited amount of protection against those types of damage, could you elaborate?

Lastly, your weaknesses are a little lacking, the last weakness is essentially void in roleplay, and the others don't do enough to balance out the strengths. Wouldn't an EMP attack neutralise the exoskeleton as well as the other systems? What about weak points in the armour? Flesh it out a little more and we should be solid.

Other than that looks good, show those pesky Force Users what NFUs can do!

1) Changed Lightsaber resistance to Very High.

2) Weigh changed to 32kg.

3) Adjusted "extreme" to "highly" in the first strength as to align with the specs.

4) Removed EMP weakness, added 2 others (addressing your point about the weak spots in it).

Alrighty.

Wouldn't Duraplast impart more protection at those points, since it is more durable than durasteel in every aspect? Additionally, wouldn't the joints being protected by Duraplast make it impossible to move, as it's an inelastic metal?

Perhaps making the plates out of duraplast while leaving the joints exposed (as it is on most armours, due to the inflexible nature of metal) would make more sense for the armour, as it's meant to be highly durable and durasteel doesn't impart as much protection as duraplast does? It would also explain the removal of the EMP weakness, as duraplast can be made to withstand EMP attacks. This is just a suggestion though, you can use it or not, as it's your submission after all.

Awesome, looks good to me. Passing it on for mentor review.

Ysalamari compartment below the power pack, nullifying the attack potential of Force Users.
[member="Atlas Kane"]

This is a strength, Please detail that the range is only a 5 meter radius as per canon. However a weakness will be if damage is made to the Ysalamari compartment, such as kinetic damage or if the Ysalamir is killed, then the bonus is no longer relevant.

Natassia Traxen said:
Heat management: Because of the armor's components, it can conduct heat and thus pose a hazard to the wearer.
If this is a weakness then it wouldn't be average, please set to low.

What makes this difficult out in the field? Why would repairs take so long? What could break that would make this be a viable weakness out in the field?

Natassia Traxen said:
Restricted Use: Because of the weight and the components of the armor, it is nigh-impossible to be used by someone without biological augmentations or heightened muscle mass.

Then is this a power armor? Or is it only available for augmented beings? If it is the former, then what happens with an EMP strike hits and messes with the power armor?

- Added Ysalamari compartment as strength (and the corresponding weakness)

- Removed the "Heat Management" weakness. The strengths and weaknesses are still equal in number, but I will add it once more if requested.

- Added details to the "Heavy Maintenance" weakness.

- Clarified the weakness "Restricted Use". It is indeed a power armor, but becomes immovable by a non-augmented individual if hit by an EMP - EMP resistance modified as a result.
