Honoured Enemy

Taking cover as his comm buzzed in his ear, someone requesting extraction of him specifically. Vladimir didn’t recognize the voice of the woman, she must have gotten his name from someone at the slowly growing center of their operations he had hastily started before departing to assist the General who was in immediate danger. Really none of that mattered, he had taken command until someone else was able to relieve him, and it was on him to ensure the safety of as many people as he could.

Examining the map that was being constructed as the evac teams spread around gathering more equipment and survivors Vladimir noted the location of Bravo Squad in relation to the beacon that this medical team was broadcasting. They were finishing up at another site according to their reports so they were most certainly in the best position to extract the medical team.

Peeking out from behind his cover and firing a few more shots at the enemy burning down an enemy soldier foolish enough to attempt advancing through the smoke Vladimir thrown to cover the General’s retreat. He got on his comm as he ducked behind cover again firing streaming in his general direction from the enemy firing blindly through the smoke. “To whomever that was speaking my HUD indicates Bravo squad is near your location, they are in the best position to extract you and your people. I am redirecting them now, hold on tight.”

Switching his comm to direct his message to the commander of Bravo squad Vladimir spoke briefly. “Sergeant Walker, I assume you were listening in, take Bravo and extract that medical team, they will be invaluable back at our base camp, with any luck they will be well equipped, I can’t imagine our medical supplies are in good order.”

That handled Vladimir returned his attention to extracting the General and his fellow survivors.

----------------------------------------------------

Receiving the message Sergeant Addison Walker simply tapped her comm twice in acknowledgement. She noted the location of the medical team’s beacon on her HUD and adjusted the macrobinocular lens to allow her to see the distance between the two groups. She could see the enemy approaching from the south apparently unaware of Bravo Squad. She got a quick sense of their compliment, they were definitely too numerous to engage.

“Double time Bravo, the enemy is going to be on our people shortly, we need to get there before they do.”

The entire squad broke into a run, charging to rescue the medical team their heavy Tyumen-1 armor restricting their speed slightly but it wasn’t meant for speed and when they got their they would most definitely need it’s power to keep them safe.

Less than ten minutes later Sergeant Walker and her squad were joining the medical team, Addison approached [member="Jeela Tillian"] as the rest of the Squad filtered through the medical team, getting them up and ready to move with as much gear as they cold carry, a full third of the squad taking up defensive positions in case the enemy got the jump on them. “Are you ok to walk ma’am, we are going to need to move out quickly, the enemy is almost on us and I would like to extract before they can organize and engage.”

Jeela felt the tension slip out of her at the crisp response, which was expected, as she heard blaster fire. Thank the Force. Only a little while longer. Assuming the Sith forces didn't arrive first. They were close though. Jeela could sense both them and Braove squad.

She gave a sigh of relief once Bravo arrived, some of the responsibility she felt slipping away from her. She didn't have to single-handedly protect her team, her friends now. Others with more experience could help with that.

She nodded as Sergeant Walker approached.

"I can walk, yes." She paused as the enemy's presence grew stronger still. "Thank you so much." She looked over in the direction the enemy were coming from. "Things are going to get very dangerous here within the next few moments, I believe. I can buy a few extra moments to gather more supplies if you think we will need them."

She would be the river flowing through the rapids, dancing, spirialing, wearing down the mountains until they were pebbles.

Hasjo weaved through enemy fire. His movements were made with deadly precision. A deep clarity was seen in his lines of engagement of which he chose. Where he twisted his body, moments later where the air was once filled by his torso, was now filled with a glancing blaster bolt. He had received the call from Vladimir. The Jedi was distracting the enemy with the rest of Fireteam Pool whilst the Ops personnel could flee into the friendly-enemy dropship. He unclipped the Lightwhip, igniting the several meter long cerulean plasma. He snapped his wrist and the weapon came to attention, crashing against enemy plating. Those who were touched by the whip went down and those who went down stayed down. Fireteam Pool began to pull back to the extraction point, General Hallu shortly behind. Twirling the whip, carving a massive swath through enemy ranks. They were forced to stay back and hide for cover. As the last of them entered the dropship, the door closed. "Take her away" the Jedi General ordered.

“That shouldn’t be necessary ma’am, we can keep the enemy back until your people are ready to move, if you would be so kind as to get them organized, I would like to get us out of here as soon as possible, ideally before the enemy can close this distance. We need to ensure we get as much of the equipment as we can afford to carry, it will be important. We have found a number of injured people along the way and I have reports of a great many more injured filtering back to the camp.”

As the medical team gathered their gear Bravo squad prepared for the enemy, forming a defensive line and finding whatever cover they could leveling their blasters on the route they expected the enemy would be taking to approach.

At Vladimir’s location with General [member="Hasjo Hallu"]

Moving back towards the dropship they had hijacked from the enemy Vladimir and Alpha squad kept firing keeping themselves between fireteam Pool and the enemy helping the General keep the enemy down. They didn’t fire to hit a target, they were firing to supress the enemy so they couldn’t fire back as they loaded up on the drop ship. The Hapan man was the last of his squad to get his boots on the ramp and as the General stepped onto the ramp ordering the ramp closed and for them to take off. A member of Alpha hit the button to raise the ramp as Vladimir and the General stepped into the shuttle the pilots started taking off.

Moving from the ramp Vladimir pushed through Alpha squad and fireteam Pool towards the cockpit. Examining his HUD he could see where Bravo squad was, he downloaded the map to the ships’ computer marking Bravo’s location. “Bring us there, we will extract Bravo and the medical team with this shuttle.”

“Acknowledged Sergeant.” The pilot redirected the shuttle towards Bravo’s location keeping the shuttle low so the enemy couldn’t track them and hit them from orbit. They were taking the risk that the enemy weren’t equipped with weapons heavy enough to bring the shuttle down but the chances of them having the foresight to bring weapons like that given the way they had forced the Sixth battalion and the crew of the ship to get to the surface. Vladimir certainly wouldn’t have considered the extra weight of carrying that kind of equipment necessary under this kind of circumstances.

Getting on his comm Vladimir broadcast to both Sergeant Walker and the mystery woman who had called him earlier. “Sergeant Walker, gather your squad and the medical team, we are incoming to extract you, we are coming from the west we will be there in a few moments.”

“Understood, we are holding position.” Sergeant Walker replied.

The shuttle came in fast and low landing just behind were the medical team and Bravo squad were holding position. As they came in for a landing the shuttle kept its boarding ramp turned away from the enemy. Vladimir pushed through those already onboard to the end of the ramp. “Off the boat boys, we will the shuttle with Bravo while the medical team loads there gear.”

First off the ramp again Vladimir took up a position around the side of the dropship his own weapon ready to fire on the first enemy that presented themselves as a good target.

"-chhh- Kirov, Rorschach-chh- gets to Bravo! " The bad communication feed barely managed to get Pravis's message through, as his men tried ordering themselves together. The squad's armor was stained with blood in dirt, as the group held their weapons limply by their sides. Suddenly, waves of blaster fire came through the jungle, as the Kaleesh began yelling. " HIT THE DECK! Dashade, get Glorzk some bandages, Tristor and Liod, flank 'em! " Pravis ordered, as he swung his rifle up and began giving some suppressing fire.

Checking his HUD Vladimir noted the location of Rorschach squad, apparently they had got themselves caught up with the advancing New Order Forces, they were trying to retreat towards Bravo’s location but were under heavy enemy fire and at risk of being overrun. Scanning the horizon Vladimir spotted the exchange of fire not too far off they were heavily outnumbered and no doubt needed to be reinforced in order to effect a proper retreat. At least they were keeping the enemy busy for now so the medical team had more time to load their equipment.

Vladimir looked to General [member="Hasjo Hallu"]. “Permission to take Alpha squad and assist Rorshach squad sir.”

Jeela nodded, her face grim, but quietly relieved on the inside. She was not a soldier or warrior unless necessary. That seemed to occur more often now than it used to. So be it. She strode off, limping from her injury, and started grabbing gear, slinging straps over her shoulders and stuffing her pockets. She kept her arms free, unlike the others who piled their arms full of gear. She would need her lightsaber, she was sure of it, and probably while still moving.

She looked over at the team and they nodded. They had everything. She turned and passed the nod to the sergeant, "We're ready to move out. I'll help tend the injured we find en route. Everyone else not needed should keep moving though to lessen the risk for all."

(I am going to be pushing forward to keep us going, since our PC enemy has backed off we will have to NPC our enemies, please RP them with the respect you would expect our enemies to RP our NPCs with, [member="Hasjo Hallu"] has asked me to continue this thread on so any suggestions please PM me J)

Permission granted Vladimir took direct command of both Alpha and Bravo again, the General and the medical team would be returning to the treeline in the drop ship. It wouldn’t be much good to them once the enemy closed on it anyway, no doubt by now they had brought forward weapons capable of bringing the shuttle down by this point. Sergeant Kirov spoke up to those around him, using his comm to address both squads and speaking loudly enough that those around could hear him. “We will be evacuating the majority of the medical team on the dropship. Alpha and Bravo are on me but we need any volunteers with combat training, we are going into the thick of it to extract Rorshach Squad.”

Not having time to wait for anyone to respond Vladimir started to lead Alpha and Bravo squad towards Rorshach squad as she tried to understand the situation through his HUD. He got back on his comm, directing his message to [member="Pravis Sharman"]. “Alpha and Bravo are incoming Sergeant, hold on as long as you can.” Not knowing if the message had gotten through Vladimir ordered both squads and their volunteers to pick up the pace.

Jeela listened to the message and nodded, and then started moving faster, peeling off from the medical team to follow the combat squads. The members of her team saw what she was doing, and gave her quick salutes. She returned them curtly. Her duty, her purpose, was to always be between death, and the ones it would take. In this instance, it was Rorshach squad that was in the most danger. Her team, no, her family right now, was safe. They would be back at camp shortly. She would go and be the river, flowing between bolts, and acting as a barrier between the squad and the Sith soldiers.

The two squads and the volunteers had reached Rorscharch squad's location quickly, they didn't have the benefit of being able to flank the enemy, they would have to take them head on. Vladimir established their line swiftly and they pressed forward into the enemy to lighten the load being poured onto their allies. He and Alpha pressed out the new order forces on the left flank of their fellow marines while Sergeant Walker and her squad pressed into the new order forces on the right flank. "Extract any injured squad members Sergeant [member="Pravis Sharman"] we are going to fall back to the treeline as a unified force once any injured have had the opportunity to get a head start." Vladimir glanced at [member="Jeela Tillian "]and the other volunteers. "We need someone to assist getting our injured out of here. Alpha Bravo and the rest of Rorsharch will hold the enemy at bay until you can get them to relative safety before we organize a retreat."

Jeela nodded and slipped forward through the trees to the nearest injured ally and crouched down next to him. She pulled a medkit from a pouch on her armorweave and gave a quick injection of adrenaline to assist. A few other joined her, and they helped the soldier up and the others began leading him away from the fighting as Jeela reached out with the Force for the next injured. There. Approximately ten meters to her right and pinned down by enemy fire. She swallowed nervously and slithered part of the way there until the enemy fire grew to intense.

She settled herself in the eye of the Force's currents, ignited her lightsaber and rose to a crouch. Instantly, blaster fifer moved away from the wounded towards her. Be the river. Be the river. Her blade danced ahead of her, deflecting blaster bolts towards enemy forces and away from her allies. She twisted and stepped aside, flowing from one movement to the next, just barely slipping out of the spot the blaster bolts were about to be. Her muscles screamed from the effort, and sweat stung her eyes. She stumbled slightly, but recovered with a duck and roll.
