Mullarus finally located a place to dock at near the ghetto parts of the Coruscant Undercity, close to where he had first met Baralin the night before. Something felt wrong today. It was as if with the sun in the sky...crime was somehow more active.
He climbed out of the cockpit and pulled his black outer robe on once again. It felt good to wear the stocky robes while dry again. As his boots echoed against the tiled floor of the interior of the 'parking garage' and made contact with the wet concrete outside, he tossed the bulky black hood of his robe over his head and closed his eyes. He reached out with the Force, trying to see if he could pinpoint the unique presence of the half-theowei, half-vahla woman.
To no avail. He was not attuned enough with the Force. He would need practice. For now, he would use logic. Perhaps she hangs around the same square she was in last night.
He passed along the crowded streets of the Coruscant Undercity. Scum and villainy surrounded him, he could feel it. Thankfully, on the busy street, Imperial soldiers watched every few blocks. Thankfully, they were visibly armed with carbine rifles. Criminals only listened to the same violence they spoke with.
Mullarus turned into an alleyway that led to the small square where he pursued Baralin the night before, close to the alley he confronted her in. He could not see her anywhere. One event did catch his eye, however. On the other end of the square, he saw two men, covered head-to-toe in clothing that made them look like street thugs, along with an Imperial guard behind them, pursuing a man dressed in formal clothing. The well-dressed man turned into an alley and the other three behind him followed. Mullarus felt something in his gut. Maybe it was the Force. One way or another, it compelled him to go after them.
Following them into the alley, he saw the Imperial soldier facing him. Behind the soldier, it looked as if the thugs were threatening the other man. "Sir, this is official Imperial business. Please, move along."
Mullarus did not move. He stood and stared over the man's shoulder, which he could easily see over. One of the thugs had kicked the man to the ground. Whatever was going on...it was about to cease.
"Soldier, either stand aside or turn around and help that man!" Mullarus ordered.
"I have orders to oversee this operation. Citzen, move along."
The thugs began to beat on their victim.
Like hell I will
Mullarus threw a hand forward, gripping the Imperial soldier's throat and tossing him behind him. With the soldier behind him, probably dazed, he used the Force to pull his lightsaber out of his robe and ignited it. Upon the alley being lit a dark green, the two thugs turned around to see Mullarus standing there, hate running through his veins. "You two leave that man alone NOW!"
He didn't wait. He lashed out. In an instant, he brought his lightsaber across the chest of one of the thugs and kicked the other one against the alley wall. He then began to grip the remaining thug's throat with the Force as well, holding his lightsaber at the ready to impale the man. "Who the HELL do you think you are, scum?!"
The thug choked and wheezed. Obviously, he couldnt speak. Mullarus let up a little bit on the grip enough so he could breathe and speak normally. "Gu-guh...! M-My lord! I-I-I'm...I ca- I'M KARKIN' SORRY! J-JUST..LE-LEMME G-GO!"
Mullarus threw the man to the ground with the Force, landing face-first on the concrete. "You stand your arrogant arse up, filth! I'll teach you to beat on citize-"
Before he could continue, Mullarus turned his gaze to the Imperial soldier standing in the entryway of the alley, aiming his blaster carbine directly at Mullarus. Mullarus' dark blue eyes narrowed through the darkness of his hood, "Soldier...arrest this criminal."
The soldier did nothing.
Mullarus raised his lightsaber in time for the soldier to pull the trigger, sending stun bolts toward him which were quickly redirected back to him. The soldier fell to the wet concrete, stunned. By the time Mullarus' darkened, angry gaze fell back go the thug, there was another blaster pointed at him. A smaller one, but it was there. Mullarus acted quickly, swinging his lightsaber to slice the goon's hand off, but taking a blaster bolt directly in his side. The man's hand flew off of his arm and the freshly-fired blaster flew against the wall. Both men cried out in pain.
Mullarus, however, remained standing, the thug still on the ground. Mullarus glared down at him, not saying a word as his side burned with a fresh blaster bolt in it.
The thug simply spat on Mullarus' robes. So Mullarus executed him.
After the event unfolded, a couple of other Imperial soldier came around to check on the situation, hearing the blasterfire. Mullarus explained what happened and they offered to inject him with some bacta to help the healing process. He accepted and was administered the bright blue chemical. The two soldiers arrested the soldier who assisted the thugs, explaining to Mullarus how some guards in the undercity were paid off by goons to oversee their criminal activity. It made Mullarus sick. Coruscant was such a stain on the Empire.
The victim of the thugs was given bacta as well and sent on his way. Upon being questioned, he was a simple office worker with a pocket full of credits that the poor, reckless thugs wanted. Mullarus apologized to him for what had happened before going on his way.
This was where he finally found Baralin a few blocks away. He wondered if she had heard the blasterfire a few blocks away, but he was not here to brag. His side still ached from being shot, but he managed a nervous smile as Baralin spoke his name.
"Oh, you think so? Perhaps another time, Miss Baralin. If you do not mind, I have come to speak more to you."
