Public Home is where the world tree grows (SJC)

Location: Orbit of Okarthel

It hung before them like grand emerald, various hues of greens with small streaks of blue rivers and white clouds. Framed perfectly against the dark void of space. This emerald was a planet known as Okarthel, a vast jungle world that was lost to the galaxy for over eight hundred years. Until its recent rediscovery through the notes left by the original discoverer of the planet, Dr. Declan Carter. His notes contained detailed information on his ten year stay on the planet. From local flora and fauna, to the native species of Kiir. Okarthel was an untouched treasure trove of discovery for any research team willing to brave its jungles. The planet's discovery was short lived, however, as the Gulag plague struck the galaxy. Dr. Carter was one of the victims of the plague and his notes were all but forgotten. Hundreds of years later, his notes were found by sheer chance and Okarthel's location was revealed once more.

Amongst the new explorers was a young teen, with wide excited eyes as she gazed in wonder at the planet through the ships view port. She was almost bouncing from one barefoot to the other as the anticipation built. Out of everyone on the expedition, she was the most excited of them all. The reason was simple, she was Kiir and this was the home world of her species. She had never even been to this planet in her life, in fact she didn't even know what species she was until the rediscovery of Carter's notes. This expedition was more then just the exploring a new planet, she was literally finding out who and what she was. At the moment the anticipation was killing her, but she also knew they needed to get planet side. Before that, however, they had to get everything prepped and ready for landing.

Tearing her gaze from the view port, she darted down the hallway. She wove in and out of people and droids, making sharp turns at record speeds. Finally, arriving at the hangar where shuttles were being loaded with cargo, vehicles, and other needed supplies. Scientists, crew members and Jedi alike hurried about to make sure everything was good to go. Milla made her way to the center of the hangar and waited for the last of the shuttles to be loaded and final meeting to be called. She purposely placed herself near the shuttle she was sure was touching down first. When they reached planet side, she wanted to be one of the first to set for on Okarthel.

Slip stood in the center of the hangar, holding a datapad. All around him, the crews were preparing for departure, and getting the final supplies loaded. Right next to Slip, a group of droids hung around him. Slip's job was to maintain the droids, and ensure that they all continued working during the mission. The droids ranged from astromechs, to Protocol Droids, to even small remote probes.

Slip sighed. Today was going to be a long day. Scans showed that the planet was mostly jungle, meaning that travel by vehicle was either going to be difficult or impossible. Besides, Slip was more used to Mountain Ranges, and cold areas. Jungles were the exact opposite of those types of areas. But, Slip knew why he was here. With his enhanced path-finding abilities, survival skills, and skill with droids and technology, he was a useful addition to the exploration teams.

As Slip looked up from his datapad, he saw Milla Caranthyr Milla Caranthyr run into the hangar. That was another reason why he came. This mission meant a lot to Milla, and it was obvious. The excitement was practically seeping off of her. It meant a lot to Milla, so of course he was going to help her.

"Hey, Milla!" He called out to her. "Are the rest of your species like you? Cause I really don't want to loose any droids today."

Of course, that was probably what was going to happen...

Exploring new planets, or rather planets that have been forgotten for centuries, was part of Amelia’s job being a Warden and all that. There tends to be some dark side corruption within these planets, some of them are obvious, some of them are not. Not that Amelia suspects there was corruption within Okarthel, but with her experience the dark side of the Force touches everything that the Light touches. For anything that the Light touches also casts a shadow behind them. The bigger the light, the worse case scenario would be the bigger the shadow became. Within a planet that has been forgotten until recently, Amelia doesn’t feel any alarming presence. Other than that it just felt like the planet was rife with life.

Onboard of her own ship, a Mercury-class Star Courier that was granted the name of Swift. It was amongst the number of shuttles meant to touch down on the planet of Okarthel, and Amelia even gave permission for the explorers to use her ship in order to get down. Not that the ship was a military type freighter, but it was fast with the engines. Knight Venthyra, or as she went by Silverblade, could be found outside of her ship doing a final check on the outside of her ship while the explorers were loading up some of their cargo onto Swift. The downside of the ship was that it was built for efficiency with the systems, not so much when it came to space. Luckily the only thing that Amelia kept in the cargo was food reserves and ammunition of arrows.

Perhaps the main thing that makes her stand out aside from her red hair that remains braided on the top layer while the bottom half cascades down to her mid-back. Amelia also wears a skin tight suit which is identified to be made out of Enviroweave, the kind that enables the wearer to withstand and adapt to the different types of environments. She also wears a leather tunic with extra padding around her abdomen. Her wrists were donned by a pair of leather bracers with only a couple of silver buttons that fastens the bracers onto her forearm. Around her waist is what might be mistaken as an open-front skirt of pelt, but it’s actually a nexu pelt with the alarming patterns still present. Ironic that it was the jungle variation of a nexu. Her boots, also leather, to the keen eye or just people who paid attention to her feet would notice that there were in fact metal teeth like she was expecting a climb up a trail or something.

Clipped on her belt was a number of things given that it was in fact a utility belt. Such as a bundle of liquid cable in it’s neat canister, a couple of grappling hooks, a couple of pearls, a pouch that contained food such as dried fruits and dried meat, and lastly were the two lightsaber hilts. One hilt was beautifully engraved like vine-like branches full of leaves caressing the hilt, while the other appears to be standard and actually smaller than the other one.

When she feels a shift in the Force, and actually hears the eager footsteps filled to the brim with excitement. Amelia turns her eyes away from one of the landing feet joints to the source and finds the source to be a young girl who looked like she was maybe sixteen. There was another, a boy with green hair and green eyes, and both were Padawans last Amelia checked. The Knight wasn’t going to claim to know what happened or what was going on. She silently sighed before she began approaching the two as her steps sounded like light solid metal given the teeth on her boots.

”Are the two of you ready to depart? Any questions about what we’re doing?” Not that Amelia questions them, but Padawans tend to jump first before thinking of grabbing a parachute. Metaphorically of course. If anything she wanted to make sure that everyone was on the same page, but then again Amelia’s objective is different from what the other explorers were here for.

Milla turned at the sound of Subject 648 Slipknot Subject 648 Slipknot voice as he called out to her. "Hey!" She called back excitedly as he approached. The young Kiir gave a sheepish smile at his question. "I actually don't really know what they're like. The whole not knowing what species I was kinda makes knowing things a challenge." The droids he mentioned caught her attention. There was something about droids she really didn't like. They just....didn't feel right. She was unsure if that was a species thing or not, but something in her told her they were unnatural. Pulling her gaze from the droids, she looked back at Slip. "So. Are you ready for this?"

A new sound caught her attention. Metal meeting metal in rhythmic steps. Milla turned to see a Knight approaching them. She had never met, or seen really, her before. Amelia Venthyra Amelia Venthyra asked the pair if they were ready to depart and if they had any questions. Milla was more than ready to depart, if her visible excitement wasn't obvious. As for questions... "I'm ready to go! And I've read through the briefing like...a hundred times. So I don't think I have any questions."

"I actually don't really know what they're like. The whole not knowing what species I was kinda makes knowing things a challenge."

Slip nodded. "Yeah, no doubt. That's just gonna make things a whole lot more difficult though..." He sighed. Great... with his luck, all of their droids would get lost. Today was going to be a fun day.

"So. Are you ready for this?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," Slip chuckled. "What about you? Are you ready? You must be excited to finally meet other members of your own species, to finally learn about your people. Or at the very least slightly nervous about it."

Then, Slip turned as he heard metal footprints approaching them. He saw the Knight approaching them. He got some serious Deja vu from this Knight with all of her gear and her tough and grizzled appearance. She reminded him of Red, now that he thought about it, always gruff and always bringing a ton of equipment.

”Are the two of you ready to depart? Any questions about what we’re doing?”

"Yes ma'am, ready to head out. At least, as ready as anybody can be. And these droids are all ready to go too." Slip affirmed. He had no idea what to expect once they got down there, but it was definitely going to be an interesting experience.

One padawan was eager to start, and the other was a bit calmer compared to Milla. Analytic even as Amelia noted their first impressions. Neither had any questions as they were already briefed earlier. Amelia noted the droids as well, and the jedi knight gives a satisfactory nod before adding on.

"Well I will warn you that it is possible that any civilization hasn't seen any of our kind for a long time, and so they might not exactly be welcoming with open arms. I would very much rather communicate with them as I don't wish to start hostility with them. However, you are eligible to defend yourselves." Granted this might have been covered in the briefing already, but Amelia could not stress enough how much first impressions can affect generations. So far they've gotten to a good start with past experience, and Amelia did not wish to jeopardize it. Without further ado however, Amelia gestures over to her ship.

"Anyways, go ahead and get yourselves comfortable. I just need to do some final checks and then we can go." In which case, unless they had something to say or throw a question at her, Amelia would turn to finish up on her checks.
