Strengths:
- Defenses: The advanced shields and durable alusteel armor of the Holowan Heavy Cruiser ensures that the vessel can last in combat, giving it's crew enough time to formulate battle plans in dire situations.
- Hangars: Built with four separate hangars, the cruiser is able to deploy a fair amount of starfighters into battle. They are used as a means of offense and defense.
- Armament: While the turbolaser cannons are powerful, the Heavy Cruiser will usually find itself outgunned against a ship of similar size. It also lacks anti-starfighter defenses, relying on its own fighters to defend from such attacks. If the two were separated, the cruiser would become vulnerable to fighter runs.
- Speed & Maneuverability: This ship is not notably fast, nor is it able to readjust its angle quickly. The cruiser can be outran by similar ships, or overwhelmed by advanced enemy maneuvers.
Description:
With a tighter grasp on the planet of Doneer'so, Holowan Laboratories began to employ many more natives of the world, the Doneer, renowned for their abilities in starship design and construction. With their aid, the shipyard of Tokks'vik was now capable of producing even grander ships, and so the I-class Heavy Cruiser was introduced.
Measuring in at one thousand meters in length, a majority of space within the ship is taken up by multiple hangars, along with the turbolaser cannon emplacements along the port and starboard of the ship. It is designed to be able to survive for some time in ship-to-ship combat, built with powerful shields that are meant to last long enough for starfighter squadrons to be deployed alongside it.
Additional escorts are also recommended when using the Heavy Cruiser as a capital ship, as its amount of firepower is often outmatched by ships of similar size and class. Instead it will attempt to outlast the enemy vessel, relying on defenses to buy enough time for a plan to be concocted and executed, in order to defeat or force the enemy's retreat.
