Description: Developed by the Wyrding yards, Holomon are small interactive droids with limited programming designed to interact with each other in gladiatorial combat. Meant to be friendly companions with children and loyal mobile holopets for all. These droids were marketed for their interaction game program weighing heavily on its appeal to youth and hologaming fans.

There were no basic forms for Holomon but instead there were 1138 different archetypal forms with countless probable up-gradable forms. Each holomon was built with a basic biomechaniod cybernetic frame. These frames included bipedal, facultative and quadrupedal forms made of plasteel. Throughout these cyber frames were simple holoprojection nodes that would shroud the cyber frame in the programmed Holomon's form when a Holomon was activated. If activated each holomon unfolds from its dormant form and its hologram surrounds it's cyberframe in a spectacular energy show that is customizable by purchasable programming. However so called 'serious players' forego any of these special effects preferring to spend in game money and time with their holomon. The activation of the Holomon sends signals out to other Holomon units and extends its range if an open holonet connection is available. In its dormant form a Holomon was a small trinket like form. Normally taking the style of a stylized plasteel disc or orb weighing between .1 to 1.5 kilograms depending on size. When active the holomon is capable of running at peak potential for around 6 hours before needing to be recharged.

When a Holomon kit is selected a buyer does not know what type of droid they will receive until the droid is activated. However it's dormant for will show its base archetype hinting a clue to what it might be. Featuring creatures both real and of legend throughout the galaxy Holomon also include various droid models and fictitious heroes of bygone era. And the imagination.

Each holomon advances in level and form through combat and interaction. The largest amount of experience is earned through technique training and Holomon combat. However, if switched to adventure mode these droids can help in simple tasks and use their form's basic sensor package to learn and grow through its heuristic processor. These experience points are maintained and distributed through a universal holonet site where the droids memory was examined and its experiences analyzed and assessed for experience point distribution. When a Holomon reached a certain level of experience, the droid will display an advancement form display where it can be upgraded. These upgrades give new features, powers and even personalities to the droid. The higher the level, the more complex and varied these forms can be making every Holomon unique. This coincidentally made Holomon Droids very collectible though collectability was determined by rarity and the droid's game statistics.

It should be noted that a holomon has very limited access to the holonet. When it is uplinked to a terminal it can only access the Holomon Holopage. These droids were never meant for utility or actual combat. Instead they were designed for interaction and could never learn so far as to pilot a star ship but instead could learn helpful skills. This includes maintenance, some tutoring skills and even nonviolent mischief.

Though each holomon cyberframe was basically the same depending on its number of limbs and types of locomotion. The only true differences were in the hologram programming itself. Each personality and each hologram for was different. Each had a different set of moves and powers as well as a set "type" and "Weakness". When interacting with another holomon in "combat" the droids simulate holographically projected combat. This combat integrates holographic effects and real melee combat. However the droid are not able to actively injure each other with their plasteel construction.

There were times when a droid would need a "physical upgrade". All a Holomon owner needed to do to get their Holomon upgraded is bring their holomon to a Holomon distribution terminal where it will receive a physical upgrade for a subjective fee. This upgrade simply involved downloading and copying the small droid brain into a new holomon. . If say, for example, a holomon form required four arms instead of two or obtained the ability to fly: the new unit will need a "Physical upgrade". The upgrade system was designed to give children an incentive to earn allowance and even small wages. However it instead had a tendency to attract begging children.

Wyrding yards were known to donate several transport loads of Holomon Droids to unfortunate youth on planets and local disasters. Some say it is because Wyrding is a charitable company. Others claim the act to be PR move.
