High on a Hill was a Lonely Goatherd [Maya]

Midvinter
The Thaw

It was hard to say when the last time [member="Maya Whitelight"] and Coci had spent time together. Between them both they had much to do and duty as Jedi would always come first, but now they found some time to catch up and had decided to take a trip to Midvinter. This trip would also be for an entirely different reason, one in which Coci was eager to see to the end and not even Maya knew why Coci had chosen this place, she would soon enough.

On the outer boarders of the Capital, Tháinbroek Coci had prepared for the trek to the mountains one of the small rangers on Midvinter, smaller it might be by Valkyri standards, but dangerous and beautiful beyond measure. And large by comparison to anything she has seen within the galaxy.

Coci had visited the Grand Hall and paid her respects to their father [member="Thrand Dawnbringer"] and had received word from him that her plans are near completion which made Coci more excited to get underway. "Maya are you ready?", she asked her friend as she pulled on a long Álk coat she always wore when visiting this planet she keeps in her heart.

Two large pack with supplies and bedding sat awaiting them both on the floor of the ship, the loading ramp slowly lowered to the ground and met with the melting snow of the Thaw. It is a bright sunny day, not that one would feel the warmth, but the air is crisp and the snow sparkles with the light dancing within the flakes.

As she stood on the edge of the ships ramp, Coci looked out across the melting snow field. An image came to her mind, her beloved [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] walking toward her hand in hand with their son Théo, dressed in thick furs and both smiling. The blood line of Midvinter. Her heart sore as high as the surrounding mountains at the thought of them both, here in their homeland and setting the scene of generations of Valkyri that have trod this ground. She could almost see Théo as a man, striding next to his father, long black hair and sparkling sapphire blue eyes, a clipped beard and as handsome as his father. Oh the trouble he will cause in time.

Putting the last of the clothing over the twins as this would be there first time on a planet like this. Even so this was the first time the twins had been off Voss. It wasn't as if she didn't want to show them the galaxy. It was that she wanted to protect them like a mother would her cubs. Even so she was a bit nerves for this. Even those she knew good well that they was safe here.

Having her reason even now they didn't know that they had a half brother running around the galaxy. Even so she just didn't want anything to happen to those two being her life. Even so she made sure that they was very warm. Just hopping that they wouldn't get to far head of them or even there to be any danger. It was time to spend some time away from the Voss with them to teach them of different cultures. It still didn't make this any easier.

Walking out of their room, even then she giving them last talking to. Even them they both seem to be bounce as wanting to see this snow as to having heard of it being white. "We are ready sister,", as she look at [member="Coci Heavenshield"] even those she was concern for her little ones. It still giving them time with Coci and Thurion son.

Pulling her own hood up over her head, after all she wasn't one use to this kind of coldness. Even with her hood pulled up one could see of her having pink skin and those dark pinkish eyes.

The trip from Voss had not taken long, and the children had had much fun running about the ship and asking loads of questions about the control panel in the cockpit. This helped Coci greatly, having a lovely distraction to take her mind of flying, she even allowed the twins to take turns at flying the ship as they moved across the upper part of the sky. Now on the ground and ready in their warm clothes, Maya's children looked the picture for such an expedition.

Coci knelt down in front of them and looked at each in turn standing by the side of their mother. "Welcome to Midvinter", she added to her smile, "It is cold but the snow is fun, shall we go and find some?", one would not have to look far to locate the snow frozen water.

She stood up and gathered her pack before placing it on her shoulders. A quick jump off the loading ramp landed her feet in the snow, Coci took in the crisp air with full breath and released it feeling invigorated. "That peak there", she said point skyward to the right, "Yes the mountain we will be climbing over today, it will take most of the day, with some stops for the children to rest, and we have time for more if they need it", she spoke to Maya, sensing the concern of a mother. This was recognisable enough, Coci has it too.

But first and most importantly, Maya's children will take time to experience snow for the first time.

Putting her hand to her forehead for the glare off the pure white snow making it blinding. Bring her glaze back to her dear Sister Coci. "I know we haven't been out on outings like this, for me to take a step like this to let the twins off Voss safety. I believe they will be safe on this trip, but I have that feeling in the back of my mind." did she have reason to fear as he did. Yes her being the jedi she was should have all her fear put to rest. Even then she need to keep this balance. Even then she heard a giggle from one of the twins. "Yes, sweet enjoy yourself.", as she let some of her fear leave as she watch the two explore the snow. At first couldn't even step on the snow itself until though safe to do so.

"Please, help me keep them safe on this trip, their my precious.", knowing that she shouldn't be so attacked to them as she has bonded with them both. Their future not clear, but she still had to let the force be the guiding force. Knowing that she had lost one son she couldn't loose another child. Thinking that she could keep her son hidden from the galaxy and what could be of the darkness that was foolish of her to think this. Now she could do this for her twins to be the one there to be that mother protector.

"Your son seem to be right at home here in the snow.", almost as if he was showing the twin that nothing was to be fear of, snow could be fun.

"No harm will come to your children Maya", she said now standing next to her friend as they watched the children playing in the snow. Coci smiled as she watched the joy on their faces, although tentative at first and amazed at how cold snow was, but soon as children do, they discovered the fun of it.

She looked toward the skies, a clear day but on Midvinter that can change in the blink of an eye, but for the most part the weather would hold for them this day. "We will have to start our journey soon Maya, it will take us a the day to get there. There is a pathway that will take us up the mountain it is the best path to take and the safest. By the time we get there the children will have had enough of snow and will look to rest".

Maya's children played for another half hour before they would begin their journey. Coci locked down the ship, gathered the packs handing one to Maya before they began along the path. On the lower landscape the snow had formed patches on the ground, dripping with the Thaw but as they journeyed higher, the snow and ice remained thick and firm. The little trees that dotted the landscape in these parts, still had the clinging icicles hanging from their branches, much to the children's delight. Midvinter always looks magical no matter what time of year.

By midday the small group had reached the half way point and it was time to rest and eat.
