HISTORYHigh Admiral Hoid Hallafax was born in an uncertain time on Coruscant. The Gulag Plague was starting to fade away but health mandates still ruled the ecumenopolis of Coruscant making day-to-day life hell for the average Coruscanti. The Republic was getting its feet after the dissolving of the Galactic Triumvirate during the Galaxy-Wide pandemic, the Jedi were scattered to the winds, and there were rumors of Sith in the Tingle Arm. Despite this however, Hoid grew up with a very privileged life. His father was one of the highest ranking military officers in the military of the Republic and he had droid tutors at home, allowing him to escape from the harsh realities of life in a Post-Gulag Coruscant. As a youth, he would serve in the Galactic Outdoor Survival School and earned high honors as a Convor Scout. By the time it was time for him to go to university the Gulag Plague had been nearly forgotten in daily life and he went to the Gilad Pellaeon War College and Officer's Academy, graduating with passable grades and a degree in Strategic Communications, though any degree from the academy was likely to give him a leg up in commissioning. He joined the Republic's navy like his father and was given command of a small cruiser as his first assignment. He would serve for a time until his officer's route took him away from the field where he was woefully underequipped. With his connections to the admiralty, he was given a cushy desk job as the assistant to the Strategic Communications Admiral where he learned the true meaning of Showmanship.
Wars came and went and somehow the militarily inept Hoid Hallafax remained while better men died around him in spades. When the Galactic Alliance's name was again invoked on Coruscant he joined up, given the rank of Rear-Admiral, and sent to the front lines of the Sith-Imperial Civil War. His record was marred by defeat after defeat however his connection to the old money and military families of Coruscant kept him in positions of power. By the end of the war he'd lost 8 battles, been captured once, been offered medals by both the New Imperial Order and the Galactic Alliance for his "Bravery" and was promoted twice bringing him to the rank of full Admiral. When High Admiral Dracken Pryce retired and moved on to politics he was once again promoted and given the title High Admiral of Crimson Lance with the hope that he would not be able to do any real damage to a fleet on the edge of Alliance space. When the Maw attacked though he was the one left in command. Using his skills in showmanship, Strategic Communications, and his connections in Coruscant (as well as a few bribes) he was able to keep his position despite loss after loss. It wasn't until real heroes began taking command that the tide was turned.
