The HH-01 Scatter gun is unique only due to the fact that its barrel is made purely out of low friction iron. The rest of the components are of standard make, with an outer frame of durasteel to protect its innards. The energy-coated ammunition that slugthrowers utilize experiences reduced friction when traveling through the barrel, which results in a mild increase in power upon release. Forgoing pump-action, the HH-01 is a semi-automatic scatter gun that is also capable of considerable rapid fire, as the low friction iron the barrel is made of causes the metal to heat up at a much slower rate than usual.

The Sith had been designing a projectile-based weapon to outfit his IG-series droids with, knowing that anti-force user equipment was useful in this day and age. That was when he caught wind of Hansol Mining Corporation and their newest material. They had refined regular iron at a molecular level, resulting in a metal that would go perfectly with a slugthrower design. Once contact was established, the two CEOs exchanged pleasantries and began to harden out the specifics of their business contracts.
A few transactions were made on the side, and eventually the two came to an agreement on a shipment deal that was deemed fair on both sides. Holowan Laboratories would purchase the services of Hansol Mining Corporation, acquiring delivered shipments of low friction iron and in turn manufacturing weaponry to sell at a discounted price to them, even free in some cases. Having acquired use of the material at a good price, Ballen-Ist took the deal a step further, providing the CMBT security forces with exclusive access to the HH-01 scatter gun free of charge. A new set of assembly lines work tirelessly within the production facility, churning out the scatter guns along with the other more iconic products that Holowan Laboratories has to offer.

- Scatter gun: Being a scatter gun is an advantage in its own against certain opponents, specifically force-users. The wide-spread effect of the fired projectiles make it difficult to avoid at close range, and impractical to defend against with a lightsaber.
- Brittle Barrel: While the gun itself is protected by a durasteel frame, if it were to collide with solid ground from a great height or be struck with a powerful enough blow, the low friction iron barrel itself could sustain damage and negatively effect performance.
- Slugthrower: Outdated by most standards, slugthrower firearms also had flaws when compared to its counterpart, the blaster. The HH-01 is suited towards trained personnel, as time must be taken to plot a trajectory in order to achieve maximum accuracy, unlike blaster weaponry.
