Old Rexus was in full swing now, and how he used to train his apprentices was a lot worse a lot more painful than what he planned on doing with Sage at first. So Rexus was going to give Sage the skittles version of what was his original me this training. Which was to say a very long process of repetitive tasks and ass kickings, and lots of public humiliation.

"WHATS THAT I CANT FRAKING HEAR YOU queen!! USE YOUR MAN VOICE AND TAKE THE PENIS OUT FROM YOUR MOUTH BEFORE SPEAKING TO ME!!!" Rexus screamed at Sage, not yelled, but screamed at him at the top of his lungs that even a few passing Jedi looked their way to scurry off and tend to their studies.

After Sage spoke again in his raspy begging voice Rex only turned up the power on the crush to grip the man tighter. If he wanted to be bad this was how Rex was going to train him. To be a dark Jedi if need be, but Rexus didn't want that for him. He wanted to steer him to the light.

"SCREAM IT queen!! SAY IT LIKE A MAN!! SCREAM IT!!" Rexus was in the man's face practically spitting at him as he screamed at him. If he was loud and said he was ready then Rex would let go and teach him what it meant to be a Jedi.

What the frell, thought Sage as he tried to call the Force into him to somehow defend against against Rexus' vice grip. Since when were Jedi Knights such fething drill sergeants? Weren't they supposed to be full of peace and love and all that hippy-dippy stuff? With gritted teeth Sage felt his powers surging through his body and pushed hard against the stronger man's powers. But it was no use. He was simply too untrained to even make a dent in the other man's attack. The failed attempt drained him, and still hugging his torso, he could only scream when the crushing worsened.

When Rexus's booming voice rang throughout the gardens, drawing unwanted attention to their training session, Sage's face darkened. The verbal assault made him angry as it brought back memories of his younger self, kneeling in a Nal Hutta slave yard, cowering in front of masters. Unfortunately he hadn't the strength or will left to protest. Due to substance abuse, Sage was a virtual stranger to pain, both physical and emotional, and he was desperate for the agony of either to stop.

Clutching his abdomen, Sage squeezed his eyes shut and screamed as loud as he could. "MASTER REXUS! I'M READY! I'LL KICK THE DRUGS! JUST MAKE IT STOP YOU BASTARD! MAKE IT FETHING STOP!"

The calm, peaceful aura of the Jedi Temple on Ession was something Sayl was a virtual stranger to, in more ways than one. The most obvious reason was the fact that she'd never set foot on the planet, much less been anywhere near the supposed Academy. Secondly, well, any relative peace or calm was a facet of her life that was severely lacking and had been since as long as she could remember. Chaos was an environment she thrived in, so the overwhelming calm of it all came as a culture shock, to say the least. Not to mention the relatively relaxed attitudes of those that called the place home, but that was a topic for another day.

As for how she'd come by in the first place, well, that was an entirely different story altogether. However much she wouldn't admit it, she'd stopped by the Temple of her own accord, or rather, curiosity. And now that she'd arrived, there wasn't much one could do in the way of convincing her to leave. And apparently she'd been expected in some sense, because those who were in charge, or so she assumed, had informed her of her brother's apprenticeship under one [member="Rexus Drath"], and she assumed that they meant for her to follow suit in some way, shape or form.

And really, it hadn't taken too long to locate either of them. Sage's presence in the Force was as familiar to her as her own was, and the rest of it was just common sense. The two were making the most noise out of anyone in the Temple, and once she arrived at the scene, it wasn't any wonder why. Instead of intervening she merely observed from a distance for a moment, unsure of whether or not it was a good time to be making introductions. At her brother's shouts she blinked, finally understanding. So this was what he'd meant about the drug test when they'd talked earlier.

Finally, she stepped forward, turning her attention to the senior Jedi present. "You mind letting him go? I'd rather keep my brother in one piece, if that's alright with you."

Rexus let go of the vice grip he had around the kid and spat to the right of him. He eyed the boy with a death glare and sneered at him. He was a pathetic excuse for a Jedi padawan and if he wanted to keep acting this way then Rex would make sure he got what was coming to him.

"Cross me again queen, see what happens." He said leaning down to look at the pathetic display in front of him.

Then the boys sister approached him and he smiled meeting his other student, she had been brought here to join her brother in training to become a Jedi. She hadn't broken any laws and what not and she was free to go whenever she pleased, but as for her brother. He was here for a while until he learned to get sober and stop acting like a dumbass. Lifting up a hand he cut the girl off and spoke

"One moment." Taking a deep breath Rex walked over to his Jedi Cloak and snapped it back on. Now with a bright smile on his face he returned to that positive happy vibe that he loved feeling. Soaking in the positivity he chuckled and walked over to Bane's sister.

"Hey I'm Rexus Drath your new instructor. It's so nice to meet you and when Padawan Sage catches his breath I would be happy to take you both for a tour and show you your living quarters." Rexus smiled again and looked over to Sage to see if he was still breathing

Finally the pain stopped as suddenly as it started and Sage gasped raggedly and then slumped his shoulders. As Rexus berated him, he lifted his head and gave Rexus a hard little stare. Then he noticed that they had a visitor. He had no idea what his twin was doing on Ession, but she was a sight for sore eyes. Still hugging his midsection, Sage slowly arose and wandered over to his sister. They had only recently been reunited and were almost strangers, but since Cryax wouldn't give him the time of day, she was all he had.

He stared at her for a few moments and then smiled widely and suddenly advanced on his sister, lifting her up off her feet in an enthusiastic brotherly hug. His ribcage was on fire, but he wasn't going to let that stop him from showing Sayl how grateful he was to see her. She had come to take him away from this place, he was sure of it. Then they'd go back to Antecedent and party. He couldn't wait.

"Sixer! It's so good to see you!" he exclaimed with laugh. "I never thought I'd see you here! You're bailing me out of here? Right?" He scowled at Rexus and then turned his head back towards Sayl with a hopeful expression. She was bailing him out of here, right?

[member="Rexus Drath"] [member="Sayl Bane"]

Apparently her brother wasn't as well-informed about things as she was. Either that, or the information had been purposefully withheld by their instructor for a reason yet to be given. Regardless, Sayl could only grin and shake her head at his inquiries. Sure, a part of her did feel bad for letting him down, but she wasn't there to play rescuer. Far from it, much to his disappointment. They were to train together, whether her brother liked it or not, and that was the end of things. "Not quite." She nodded towards [member="Rexus Drath"], unsure of how to address him for a moment. "Master Drath invited me here to train, and I accepted. Figured I might as well keep you out of trouble, and you'll have some company that you can actually stand."

Looking past her brother, she once more spoke to the Jedi present. "So, no drugs, got it. Name's Sayl, by the way. His twin sister, if you couldn't guess. And before you go thinking that I'll be less trouble, I'm going to stop you right there. Sure, I don't do drugs, but that's where us being different ends. We aren't twins for no reason." It wasn't that she was necessarily trying to dissuade the man from training either of them, but she figured it was only fair to let him know just what it was he was getting into. Which was to say, two headstrong students that didn't know what was good for them, some more times than others.

"Whatever he's done already, and whatever it is he plans on doing, I'll just go ahead and apologize in advance." What she neglected to mention, though she had before to a degree, was that when it came to troublemaking, the two were most certainly on par with each other. It was a trait that had the capacity to and most often did irritate others, something that it seemed wasn't lost on the Jedi either. They could preach peacekeeping all they wanted, but it seemed they had the tendency to get just as annoyed as most others did with the attitude of the twins.

Rex kept up his smile and nodded his way through the girl's speech about her being a trouble maker and she would be difficult to deal with, that was fine. As long as she wasn't breaking the law Rex honestly could not care less what they did. They were free to chose their own paths whether it be to the light or dark, dark Jedi were welcome in the reformation so long as they used their power for good. But they were to follow the rules and obey the law at all times still. And Rex was going to make sure they would or they could keep riding the pain train to blackout town.

"Off course Padawan Sayl, all I ask is that you obey the laws of this planet and do what I ask you to do. You will learn how to be a Jedi and control your gifts. So Padawan Sayl are you ready to tour the temple with Padawan Sage?" Rex asked in a very friendly voice. He wanted to be as comfy as possible, if she treated Rex with respect and kindness like she was doing know she'd even just let her call him Rex and have as many freedoms as she wanted. It was a give and take system with the man.

"Padawan Sage, if you require a medical droid I can call for one." Rexus asked Sage to make sure he was ok. Contrary to popular gelid Rexus did care ablist Sage a lot and he wanted him to be well

When Sixer told him that that they wouldn't be escaping to Antecedent together, Sage couldn't help but frown and gawk at his twin as if she were a traitor. But after a moment, he sighed and relaxed his shoulders. While this whole Jedi business wasn't at all fun, it was still better than rotting away in an Ession jail cell. Besides, now that his sister had arrived, maybe he wouldn't have to go through detox alone. He didn't know Sayl that well yet as the two had only recently been reunited, but a strong bond was quickly forming between the twins, and she was the only person in the galaxy he wouldn't sell down the river, and that included his idiot brother. Sage brushed a hand along his sister's cheek and smiled at her, then gave her a wink as if to say, "we'll sneak out later."

Then Sage turned to the Jedi Knight who had suddenly turned jaunty again. He marched over to Rexus, his face determined, but respectful. "There's plenty of time to tour the temple later, Master Rexus. Right now I want you to teach me whatever it was that you just did to me."

Sage's ribcage hurt bad. What little warrior left in him was too proud to ask for a med droid. Then again. Painkillers. He doubted that his Master would allow him to have drugs administered, so he merely shook his head. "No droid. I'll be fine....I think." He didn't feel fine, but he supposed whatever he felt, it would have to do for now.

Being strongly independent herself, it came as a surprise to her that Sage hadn't begun developing his Force abilities on his own time, as she had. But his life had been more tumultuous than hers, with little chance to do much else other than what was willed of him. Though she wouldn't give him much quarter on most any subject, that was one that could be forgiven. After all, he hadn't had any say in the matter, just as neither of them had asked for their lives to work out in the manner they had. Sayl herself had at least a basic grasp on telekinesis, and her danger sense was finely tuned due to a life spent on the streets of Nal Hutta. The rest of it was instinctive at best, but that hadn't failed her yet.

Still, even she knew when the both of them were in over their heads. "I think you'd better stop before you end up passed out from trying too hard. The training can wait until you haven't almost been suffocated." She probed his ribs gently as she spoke, searching for any cracks, sprains or bruises and not finding anything very alarming. "Well, you'll live, at least. It's gonna hurt like hell for at least the rest of the day, so take it easy for once." Flashing a grin she gave him a playful cuff on the back of the head. In the end he'd be okay, it would just be his pride wounded.

There was one thing their Master mentioned that earned a wry little smile from her, but no more. Due to a life lived with no real dependable adult guidance, her idea of obeying the law was typically different than most others. Which was to say, if you didn't get caught doing it, then it couldn't be all that bad. But she would try to abide by his wishes, at least while on Ession. It was the least she could do, really, after the offer proposed to not only train them, but allow them to stay at the Temple as well.

"I think a tour of the grounds would be our best bet, or at least for him. The best idea would be to become familiar with the place before starting anything else. The last thing we need to do is get ahead of ourselves, even if he wants to dive headfirst into things."

Rexus kept up the smile and while Sage asked him to teach him how to force crush and Sayl went on inspecting her brother. If Rex wanted to break bones or do real harm besides some bruising then he would of done so. Years of using the force and teaching others had taught him better control of his own power, at one point Rex relied wholesomely on his emotions to use workings through the force. Now it was almost as simple as snapping his fingers, you don't have that sort of power without learning how to control it over time. But Sage and Sayl would have to wait until they could be trusted to learn destructive force powers. If they were on the straight and narrow he would of gone into a lesson then and there, but the fact was they weren't on the straight and narrow.

"We will take a short tour to your room and from there you will be given the night off and we will begin training in the morning with PT." Rex looked back at Sage who was huffing and wheezing more than likely after that crush. And in a fun yet slightly jokingly evil voice he said

"I'm gonna make you strong." With a little chuckle he stepped forward with the padawans behind him and moved out of the garden area and into a hallway. Rexus moved forward with the two and pointed out to the right. If the twins looked right they could see a very large building that looked like it could swallow the scenery around it.

"That's the grand library, you will be studying there if you chose so. I'm not one for books so I won't make you do things that I wouldn't, and I hate paperwork." Well paperwork and stairs, Rex hated stairs. "Padawans Bane, do not make me do paperwork and our lives will be great." He gave a fair warning

As Sage followed along, clutching his midsection, he seethed inwardly as he ruminated on Rexus's emasculating shouts in the garden. He didn't relish the implication that he was weak. Sure he was a druggie, but as warrior, he'd fought fearlessly in the slave pits on Nal Hutta. Out of pure survival, he'd cut more throats than he could count. What had he let himself become? Lately he was just a drug fiend who fell off the whore tree and banged everyone on the way down. He wasn't used to those foreign things called feelings, but he was definitely feeling something he thought was shame.

Hooking his arm through Sayl's the half-Chiss followed his twin and his new Master into the library. When Master Rexus said he hated paperwork, Sage couldn't help but grin. Rexus was a maniac, but he was also kind of a cool guy. Maybe he could be like the father the twins never had, and Sage briefly wondered if Rexus would consider adopting them. Old Nightslice Bane had done nothing but erode the twin's trust in humanity, and neither twin was used to such kindness.

"How early do you need us up? I can make any time work." It wasn't that Sayl was concerned about it, because that was far from the truth. No, she merely wanted to know so that neither of them would delay things the first day. And if she knew her brother at all, he wouldn't want to get up at any early hour, doubly so due to being sore from what had been inflicted on him earlier. There was also the question of what they would wear, but she supposed that if it came down to it, she'd just have to borrow some of Sage's clothes and listen to him complain about it later. It was whatever worked, in her book.

Sensing something off about her brother she shot him a sideways glance and a raised eyebrow, not vocalizing her curiosity. He'd catch it, and elaborate if he wanted. "Paperwork, huh? Duly noted. I don't think I'll be getting in the kind of trouble that requires paperwork, at least. Can't say much for Sage, though." She decided then and there that it would be a fun game of back and forth the three of them would have, whether all parties were agreed to it or not. Seeing how far she could push it with people was a game of hers that she played, most times unwillingly with the other party.

As much as she'd thought in the beginning that she wouldn't like even being on the Temple grounds, the place was beginning to grow on her. Maybe training to be a Jedi wouldn't be all that bad, after all. She could appreciate the no nonsense attitude of their Master, and if everything else went this smoothly, then there would be no cause to complain for her.

Rexus chuckled at the kids words and they kept striding through the halls of the massive library. Books and holo records were positively everywhere one looked and the place bustled with the quiet energy of the force and padawans silently learning ancient teaching of some dead guy that didn't really matter anymore. Rexus was an in the now kind of guy and while yes it was important for the kids to learn some history he really didn't like sitting at a lecturing hall spouting off some pre planned lessons for the kids.

"I will have you up at six for physical training and the days lessons will proceed from there." Rexus said as they left the library behind and began to enter a more dorm like area.

Rexus made his way up to a door that read Bane on it and the room had been prepared ahead of time by the temple staff. He would make sure they got a nice tip. Rexus paused at the door and looked at the two of them

"Curfew is at ten, training is at six. If you fail to meet these requirements." Rexus paused putting emphasis on his next promise

"I will find you." He said and then took a step away to let then into their rooms

The first thing Sayl noticed upon awakening was that her surroundings were unfamiliar. That was nothing markedly new. The second was that she had a half hour until her training began, which left plenty of time to prepare. The final thing was that, unsurprisingly, her twin brother hadn't managed to drag himself out of bed yet. Maybe she'd have to play babysitter for him more than even he would admit. Mustering all of her patience she grabbed a pillow from her bed and stepped into the doorway that separated their smaller, individual rooms, throwing it in the general direction of his still sleeping form with an amused smile and a simple command, "Wake up. We're gonna be late."

Without waiting for a response she ducked back into her own room and shut the door behind her, opening the small dresser that was up against one wall and studying the contents. Okay, so she hadn't expected anything much different than the Padawan robes she found there, but that didn't mean her reaction was any more thrilled. The ensemble wouldn't have been her first choice, but given the circumstances and just where she was at the moment, it would have to suffice. One thing she couldn't imagine was Sage harboring the same feelings.

After having managed to clean up a bit before donning the robes she studied her newly outfitted reflection in the mirror that hung on the wall of her room. One hand reached up to fidget with the ring that pierced the left side of her lip with a thoughtful frown. It wasn't the most Jedi-esque thing she could think of, but it would stay until she was told otherwise. There hadn't been any rules against body modifications that she'd been made aware of, and, well, they'd let her brother in no problem with his little addiction, so she figured it wouldn't be much of an issue.

Once more she crossed into her brother's room. "You ready yet?"

[member="Sage Bane"], [member="Rexus Drath"]

A pillow colliding with his head woke Sage from the sleep of the dead. It took him a moment to register exactly where he was and whether or not there was anyone sleeping beside him, which there usually was. Some Jedi temple in the Corporate Sector, right? His hooded eyes blinked around the small, austere room as the events of the preceding day flooded back to him. In a few minutes, those familiar strong cravings overtook him, and the more he thought about the cravings, the more ferocious they got. His unsteady hands took the pillow and placed it over his head. Withdrawl was a queen. He had no idea how he was going to wield a lightsaber with such an uncooperative body, but he supposed he'd soon find out.

"You ready yet?" came the higher-pitched voice from the adjoining room as Sayl peeked her head in at him. He grabbed the pillow and tossed it at the open door. "Yeah yeah, just give me a minute." he said, waving her away with a hand. Sage felt guilty for snapping at his twin, but if Rexus was going to make him get clean then both of them were going to have to deal with his foul moods. Finally, he lifted himself out of bed, touching his ribcage where it had been crushed yesterday. Still tender, but there seemed to be no internal injuries. He grabbed a robe out of the dresser and tied it around his waist, shoved his feet in his boots and followed Sayl into the corridor, where they would both go to breakfast and meet Rexus for training.

Oh breakfast would of been real nice, superbly so even. But Rexus had other things on his mind, things like making sure his padawans were strong enough to physically overcome something. See there was a problem with a lot of Jedi and force users through the galaxy. They started to think in one dimension when it came to the force and sometimes that's all they operated in and a fist to the face was completely alien to them. So Rexus liked to make sure that every training day these kids were strong at the end of the day. So with that being said right before the kids could enter the mess hall Rex leaned in front of the door and smiled at them.

"Hey guys, you showed up early? Twenty minutes to spare and all?!" Rexus put a hand up to his chest in a mock expression of flattery.

"I'm so proud of you both, you know what Yes Sage we can start training an extra twenty minutes early today. So let's go!" Rexus gave a chuckle and closed the mess hall door behind him. Was it the right thing to let the kids miss breakfast? Probably not, but was it funny? Yes, yes it was.

Rex wore a basic black t shirt and his messy dreads hung down to his eyes and the shaggy dark skinned Jedi knight looked like he was dressed for a small workout with his grey sweats. He looked to Sayl and Sage and saw they were wearing their padawan robes. Hey if they wanted to go on a run in those things then that was fine

"Let's go kids!" Rexus crossed out into a training area where older Jedi were getting their pump on and exercising. Others meditated and it was a mix of multiple protectors training their bodies and minds. There was an Olympic style track and in the center a nice lush green field.

"Run." Was all Rexus said to the two of them

Where most others would have voiced some complaint Sayl only shrugged off the dark brown outer robe that appeared to be a standard issue, letting it fall unceremoniously to the ground. It wasn't exactly foresight, but she'd put on shorts that came to halfway down her thighs and a makeshift tank top she'd made out of an old t-shirt on underneath her new outfit, more to prevent the fabric from rubbing too harshly against her body than anything. So, without explanation, she shed the heavier layers of the Padawan robes until she was left in the shorts and sleeveless shirt, unable to stop a quiet laugh from escaping her lips at the looks she was undoubtedly receiving from the others present.

Looking down at her feet she briefly considered the combat boots she'd been wearing since her arrival. They weren't the most ideal thing to run in, but she wasn't the most ideal apprentice. They would have to do, until she was able to dig up something more suitable. At least she didn't have to worry about being encumbered by anything more than her footwear. A small, early victory that she knew would more than likely be her last.

"Catch me if you can." With that and a wink in Sage's direction she took off at a measured pace, quickly finding her rhythm and settling into the feeling of her feet hitting the surface of the track. Unfortunately, running, whether it was to escape someone or something, or simply ensure her own survival, wasn't an unfamiliar scenario. As such she'd become somewhat acclimated to sprinting in short bursts at a very high speed, but this would require a bit more of a steady stride.

Briefly she glanced in the direction of both her brother and their master, a flicker of a smile on her lips, gone as quickly as it had come. It was early, sure, and she was just getting started.

Sage rolled his eyes in exasperation when Rexus closed the door to the mess hall. "No breakfast?" he said to Rexus with a crestfallen expression, his eyes gazing longingly at the closed mess hall door. Ribbing them with a chuckle, Rexus simply turned away, and then ushered them both outside to a running track.

Sage let out another epic eye roll. Seriously? Running? With the amount of deathsticks Sage inhaled daily, the young man had the lungs of a seventy-five year old smoker. There was no way he was in any shape to run. As Sayl went sprinting off like a gazelle, no doubt from all the shoplifting she did, Sage stood there dumbfounded. The robe was too bulky to run in, so casting a death glare at Rexus, he flung it to the ground. Stripped down to his boxer shorts and boots, Sage was hardly dressed appropriately for the temple grounds, but hey, if this was what Rexus wanted, fine. "Yes, Master Rexus," he said sarcastically trotted off in a slow, pained-looking jog. He might as well have been mall-walking he was so slow.

A few minutes later, Sayl swept by him him before he'd even finished his first lap. His poor lungs were on fire. Drenched in sweat and not even finished his first lap, Sage stopped and hacked out a cough that would make an asthmatic give pause. Then started jogging again, picking up the pace as best he could. What happened to lightsaber practice anyway?

That. That was. This. No wait. This was the saddest thing Rexus had ever seen in his entire life, it was sad beyond sad. There were no words that Rexus had for the boy, at least not any positive ones. So he took a deep breath counted down from ten and sighed afterwards. Rex took off at a power walk and looked at Sage with a now concerned look in his eyes. He wasn't going to baby the kid but he was clearly uncomfortable and had a very diminished lung capacity. Rexus felt for the kid and he sat in the same boat as him at one point, but he gave up smoking and with his healing abilities he had slowly recovered until his lungs were healthy and pink again. Rexus was going to have to schedule a appointment with the temples healer for the kid.

"Sage, stop. You are clearly incapable of physical training right now. So we'll just do some yoga or something and get you breathing." He said in a very concerned voice.

Rexus stopped Sage on the track then whistled loudly for Sayl to return.

"Sayl! Get your boney ass over here!" Rex yelled to the girl then looked over to Sage who looked like he was about to cough out his lungs. He walked with the kid and set him down on the soft green grass between the track.

"Listen we'll schedule an appointment with the healers. Get your lungs back on track." Rexus said with a smile trying to comfort the kid. While yes Rex would be hard on his students he wasn't going to torture Sage by making him run when he had the lungs of a sixty year old man who worked at a mill his entire life.

At the shouting from Rexus she crossed the track to sit down next to her brother, studying him with a concerned frown and all but ignoring their mentor in favor of making sure her brother was okay. Sage was the only person she could make herself care about besides herself, and that feeling transcended above anything else, even the better interests of their training and progress. Surprisingly enough Rexus was behaving kindly towards him, something she'd thought to be a rarity after happening upon the two of them in the midst of an exercise yesterday. Boundaries, that was a good sign. But she still wanted to assess her twin in her own way.

Putting a hand on Sage's shoulder Sayl offered a smile that was more subdued in nature than her usual, concern for his well-being evident in her eyes. "You need to take it easy. Believe it or not, some of us care about you. And I'm at the top of the list." There might not have been much else she could really do for his condition besides a few kind words here and there, but as long as there was something, she would do it. The twins were of the same mind, whether they didn't want to be sometimes or not.

Her dark eyes turned to the senior Jedi present. "Thanks for going easy on him, Master Rexus. Is there something else we can do that'll let him rest just a bit?" She showed respect for him while still being ultimately concerned for family above all else. A strange set of values, to some.

Glancing around she studied the others present, noting that their routine didn't appear to be much interrupted despite all that had just transpired between the three of them. Something told her that the twins were a strange choice for Padawans for anyone to take on, especially given their general behavior around anyone else. Respect was a virtue often lost on them, or at least her.
