Private Heresy in the Holy Worlds

ᴅᴀʀᴛʜ ᴀɴᴀᴛʜᴇᴍᴏᴜꜱ

Kaila took a deep, steadying breath, and was surprised to learn that when her she opened her eyes, she did so to a smile.
Revna explained then that she was indeed playing a very dangerous game, and Kaila nodded along.

"We play a similar game then, pretending to be something which we are not." she sighed.

Kaila rolled her shoulders, gaze drifting sidelong in bitter annoyance even speaking of her master. Yet it felt good, in a twisted sort of way, that she could express her hate more openly before Revna. She'd grown so bloody tired of playing the part —demure little servant, a near sycophant in her unquestioning obedience. Perhaps she was no Darth Strosius, she exercised a level of self control reminiscent of the emotionless psychopaths who apathetically comprised the upper echelons of The Order, yet there was a fire buried deep within which threatened to burn through her skin into the open every day.

A fire which shone in her eyes as they snapped towards Revna upon her reveal.

They almost appeared to shake in her skull, such was the speed of their small movements as she examined the apprentice's own amber gaze, and factored any number of outcomes to their meeting, the answers shifting with every word spoken.

Yet...

There was something a little more genuine in Revna's eyes than she'd expected. Certainly for a sith, at least. Over time her narrowed gaze softened, and the muscles in face visibly loosened as she slowly nodded to to the side, taking her eyes off Revna in a subtle indication of trust.

"I... see..."

It was a brave thing, to request one's own death in the event of a total loss in control. There were many in this galaxy who would rather live a true slave than perish, clinging to the false hope that one day something may occur to free them. Sometimes Kaila wondered even now if she were not living that life by moving so cautiously, patiently waiting for her master's weakness to be revealed, or ways she might spare her loved ones the pain of her loss.

And yet Revna's words spoke to her, as if she might have said them herself.

"You... sound like me." she finally answered, and nodding to herself one last time, looked Revna in the face one last

"If it comes to that, I think it would be a regrettable outcome, something I do not often feel when facing sith."

"Though I will not hesitate."

She held a gloved hand out to shake, ready to make their alliance a lasting thing.

"Here's to winning the game then."

Revna watched the Sith woman before her, reading her expressions as she revealed a bit more to Kaila. She didn’t miss the fire in the other woman’s eyes, the same kind of hatred that was felt for the Butcher that they both served, albeit in different ways. Revna knew that being so…honest and upfront with another Sith could be dangerous, but she saw no reason not to be in this situation. A calculated risk, and one that could pay off if it meant gaining a valuable ally for future endeavors.

Kaila seemed to digeste her statement, her confession about the device on her back, and her request for death should she be forced against her will to strike at Kaila. The event was very much unlikely but again…until she had that damn device off her spine, anything was possible.

Kaila’s gaze shifted away, saying that Revna sounded like her, and that admission brought another small smile to Revna’s face. If similarity could be found, then an alliance was easier to form. The little Sith dipped her head as Kaila accepted her terms and her smile widened as the Darth extended her hand to shake, one which Revna grasped with her own gloved hand.

Here is to winning the game indeed!”
