Cynna left for a week long medical conference. It was the first time that Hawk was totally responsible for his daughter. He was freaking out big time.

Within 24 hours, Maddie had a fever and running nose. She was crying and miserable. Hawk couldn't reach Cynna. He bundled Maddie in a couple of blankets and took her to see Leori.

He hoped that Leori was in her quarters at the Order of the Silver Jedi. He knocks on her Leori. "Help." Three year old Maddie wipes her nose on the blanket.

Leori was in her quarters meditating after a long day at the hospital. A knock roused her from her meditative state. She rose from her bed and opened the door to find Hawk and a child, which she assumed to be his.

Her eyes narrowed. "What's wrong? Tell me and put her down on the bed." She gestured to the bed.

Leori retrieved her medical kit from its drawer and moved back over to the bed, listening to Hawk.

"Hi Leori. This is my daughter Maddie." He said sounding stressed. He laid her down on the bed. "She running a fever, runny nose, and coughing. Her mom is away for a week or more."

Maddie sneezes. "Daddy.. I don't feel good. My stomach hurts." She coughs than vomits.

Leori briefly wrinkled her nose at the vomit which was now all over her bed. She started by taking her temperature with an ear thermometer and gently prodding her glands with her finger tips.

She reached in her medkit for a hypospray that would relieve Maddie's pain and fever. It wouldn't be instant, but within a few minutes. Then, Leori could investigate what type of virus this girl had contracted. And, how much of a threat it was to the population around her.

"Have you been anywhere but the temple in the last few days?" She wondered how far it would have spread by now...

"I'm so sorry about your bed." He felt so bad about it. "I'll replace it for you." He would want a new one after that. The vomit smell drifted. Hawk turned a little green.

"I'm sorry." Says Maddie. "I tried to hold it. Honest." She winces when Leori gives her a shot. Maddie had vomit all over her clothing.

Hawk took off Maddie vomit dress. He try not to make any face while he did that. He took off his shirt and put it on Maddie. "Hmmm. No. We just been to the Temple. Right Maddie?"

"Uh uh Daddy. We went to the zoo" Maddke says put her small arms through Hawk's shirt. The shirt was too big for her. "That right. We went to the zoo three days ago. She started to feel sick the day after the zoo."

Leori narrowed her eyes. "It's okay. They can be washed. It's not important right now."

She was not displeased to hear that they'd only been in the temple. Until Maddie said that they'd been to the zoo, around animals. That could be bad. "Did you touch any of the animals? Or feed them?" Contact would definitely explain illness.

"Yeah, we went to petting section of the zoo." Said Hawk. He crosses his arms across his bare chest. "I would hold the animal while she petted. We did a baby chick, goat, umm" he say trying to think of more animals.

"A lamb..a duckie...baby dewback...and a nerf." Maddie say trying to help Daddy.

Leori stood up. There were things that she needed. She went and retrieved a kit for samples.

With a frown, she moved closer to Maddie. "I'm sorry Maddie, but I'm going to need some samples from you. It's going to hurt for a minute. I need them to figure out what kind of virus you've got." And, she had to notify the appropriate authorities.

She waited a moment to let the girl prepare herself, then took the samples from her. Leori put them in her bag before looking to [member="Hawk Solo"] "Feel free to use my refresher to get her cleaned up and comfortable. But, please don't leave this room. Help yourself to whatever you need in here." She didn't want it to spread any further.

Hawk held Maddie's hand when Leori took the sample. Tears ran down Maddie's face. She didn't like getting the shot. Hawk took her in his arms and held her. "Poor baby. It will be ok. Let's get you clean up." Hawk raises an eyebrow. Leori didn't want them to leave this room. How serious was this.

Hawk carries Maddie into the refresher. He set her down on the counter top. Maddie had stop crying but was stifling. "It is going to be ok. Leori will get you all better." He says as he washed Maddie face and hands.

After he was done, he placed Maddie on achair while he stripped Leori bed. Removing all the throw up. He placed it in a bag and put it in the bathroom. He found some clean linen and remade Leori's bed. He sat down on the edge feeling dizzy. He wasn't feeling to good himself.

Leori didn't actually know how serious it was, yet. Hence the precaution. Leori headed to the infirmary to have the samples tested. It would take some time. In the mean time, she was checking the database for viruses from animals....

She sighed. This was going to be a long night....

It was several hours before she had the results of the tests back. The results at least narrowed the field a little. It seemed that if the virus didn't kill her in the next 12 hours, she'd be just fine.

Leori started to make her way back to her quarters to check on Maddie and Hawk.

After Leori left Maddie starting fussing about her teddy bear. She wanted her teddy bear badly. She would not shut up about it. Finally, Hawk gave in. His room wasn't too far from Leori. He would quickly run and get her a teddy bear and change of clothes. It would take a few minutes.

Moving as fast as he could. He makes his way to his room. It took him longer than he had thought. Especially since he wasn't feelimg well. He get the teddy bear and a few clothes. Moving slower now he makes his way back to Leori room. By the time he got back little Maddie had fallen sleep.

Hawk tucks the bear next to Maddie. His face felt like it was on fire. His stomach ... He goes to the bathroom and throws up in the toilet.

Leori entered her room again and found Maddie asleep. That was a good sign. The medicine must have worked. The rest would help her to recover her strength. She didn't see Hawk though. Her eyes narrowed. She moved through her quarters, poking her head in doorways. He wasn't hiding obviously. But the refresher door was closed. She knocked and spoke softly. "Hawk? Are you alright?"

"No." He says than throws up again into the toilet. "I think I'm dying." He knew he was exaggerating a little bit. He never been this sick. He was burning up. His skin felt clammy.

"I'm coming in," she announced before opening the door. Her nose wrinkled when she stepped in. She took the liberty of flushing the toilet then offered her hand for him to get up. "Come on. You can lay down with Maddy. I'll take care of the nausea."

She led him to the bed, then went to get a dose for Hawk. As she administered it, she spoke in a whisper so that she didn't wake the sleeping child. "This is most definitely a virus. I've narrowed it down to two. One of them is fatal. The other will pass in a day or so. If you're both alive in 12 hours, then it's not the fatal one."

It was terrible to put it so bluntly, but it was likely that Hawk would be passing out.

Hawk allows Leori to help her to the bed. He lays down. His eyes flutter shut a few times. He didn't hear everything that she said to him. He was drifting in and out . Did she say that it was fatal? He falls asleep before he could ask her to repeat it.

Leori sat and monitored their conditions via the Force as they slept. And she would continue to do so until their condition changed.

Maddie's fever spike than she woke up crying for mama. She wanted her mama.. Maddie's crying woke Hawk up. His eyes opened. "Shhh Maddie .it ok. I'm here." He whisper to her. He still felt miserable. At least he wasn't nausea anymore.

Leori filled the room with a very calming energy and moved closer to Maddie. "You're safe Maddie. It's okay." She reassured them. "Get some sleep, you'll feel better. I promise." A promise she probably shouldn't have made, but she couldn't let the child be scared without her primary caregiver to comfort her.

With the help from Leori calming energy and being held by her Daddy..Maddie fell asleep again. Hawk looked at Leori. "Thank you." He had a vague recollection of something she said..but he couldn't remember it. "Did you figure out what we got?" He hoped that no one else got what they had.

Leori nodded. "As I said earlier, I've narrowed it down to two viruses. One is fatal, the other is not. Considering that you both are still alive and coherent, I'm fairly certain you don't have the fatal variety." She offered a small smile. "However, you're still going to feel like a bag of bantha crap for a few days."

She paused. "If you have no objections, I'd like to take some samples from you to see if we can create a vaccine in case others develop symptoms."
