Question Help Finding New Path for Character

[Queen of Devit]

I made this character because I was interested in all the nobility stories I had seen people doing. I threw her into NJO because writing a Jedi is what I’m best at. Honestly by now I would have deleted her and chalked it up as a failed experiment (like so many of my characters) but she actually became important to another writers story so I hate to just toss her aside and leave that writer hanging.

The issue is I already have a Jedi padawan character so I’m finding myself thrown in a lot of current threads twice, which can get overwhelming. I don’t want to keep this face around JUST for someone else’s story. I would like to make her interesting to write in her own unique arcs otherwise she’s going to get boring and basically be a slightly more personal npc.

I’m just having difficulty figuring out what to do with her. It’s rough to find threads without a faction and GA is mostly Jedi but again I don’t think I want to do a Jedi story with her. I considered something medical but I’m not sure on it.

Open to ideas. She can’t really do the darkside given the other writers needs but I am open to other ideas.

Have you thought about her working as a diplomat or something akin to that?

You could go more of a diplomat route, but also a soldier or combat medic, so you can still interact easily with factions if that's what you want

Outside of faction RP, there are lots of options, too. But it really depends on what kind of RP is engaging to you

Yup senator politician type. That’s what I did for this one.

Besides you could go the super low force potential route so it isn’t a big thing.

Or join the Naboo minor faction as a different spin or even the Foundation.

What you need to keep in mind - yes it may be because of someone else's story - but it is something that happened to and what you committed to with your character. She's going to be queen.

So this absolutely tracks! To go Leia's route. It can open quite a few doors for you - especially with the new climate on the board following Hapes. Will she secretly fund a rebellion while being publicly queen of an Alliance world like Leia did? Will she condemn it, sticking to the senate and NJOs decisions? How will she see to her new people that she is queen of? Will she turn into a tyrant or a benevolent monarch like Padmé? Either way, join the senate and represent Lazerian - take a bit of that burden off your husband so he can focus on Jedi-ing too.

In all of those scenarios, healing/medic can play a big part too - making her an actual useful politician that gets her hands dirty and not just a pencil pusher. You can build this character up well past just another Jedi while also shining a light on the importance of politics especially during whatever strife - rebellion, Sith, Mandos, Imperials, etc.

Do diplomats have to be senators?

Not necessarily. Just takes a bit more bootwork as you go around between governments, setting up meetings with heads of state and other politicians to get them to see reason - whatever your reason may be.
In short, just check what Leia did exactly when she wasn't doing actual Partisan stuff.

Building off of what Zhea said, you could always play an envoy or ambassador type. Go to troubled worlds, broker deals, engage in back channel dialogues with other factions. Provides you the opportunity to engage in some intrigue, maybe even some light espionage, and if you do crave some violence you can always be in the wrong place a the wrong time and get caught in an invasion.
