Hello, Apprentice!

"Huh?" was the only response coming from his mouth as his large eyes wildly swiveled from her face to her empty hand to her lightsaber. The Force had warned him of the incoming danger, but it naturally did not tell him exactly what it was, it simply guided his moves. The instinctive reaction that had been imprinted into his blood over the many years of being a Sith, now triggered by the suggestion of the Force, caused Veles to take a step back, dodging the incoming attack by removing his hand and lightsaber hilt from the direction of her attack by withdrawing the blade from the saberlock as he went backwards. As he did so, the amphibian's eyes finally noticed the exact nature of the young woman's attack. Very clever, talking to him and trying to make him think before attacking in this manner! He would have clapped his hands if not holding a weapon in one of them. [member="Silara Vantai"] once again proved her worth.

"Good," the Sith Master chuckled and nodded in acknowledgement, standing still, one foot placed in front of the other on the cold floor, not making any more moves as he waited for his apprentice to attack. As he had learned from the previous experience with his students, letting the less experienced ones take the initiative was the most effective of ways to notice their mistakes and correct them before their opponent's blade did the same thing in a permanent fashion.

With a grin flickering at the edges of her lips, Silara felt an immense boost of confidence. Not only had she succeeded in using her own master's teachings against him - she had done so in the middle of the lesson revolving around it, on her first try, and nearly succeeded in what would have been an extremely painful defeat. The sight of a fleeing master was more than enough motivation and an incredible boost of morale for the Sith apprentice, and for a moment she felt the force coursing through her to enhance her speed and bodily movements on instinct borne out of her excitement. Quelling this instinct with a direct and conscious effort, Silara made her move for a second strike, this time allowed to take the initiative. In an act of dance-like movements, clearly something that would be taught to those who learn ballroom dancing, Silara made a long stride with her right, then her left, and then as she closed in on her master, she made a sharp, short, step towards him and acted.

In the frame of time that had passed from her step to her strike, her eyes had darted all over the Mon Calamari's body, judging him for weaknesses and lack of correct posture, looking for an opening that he would be unable to reach without reacting within the full realm of his physical might. It was then that the apprentice found her plan - for she had seen none. In a very audacious strike, the Vahla teen moved for a regular strike while stepping to the side, and away, from [member="Darth Veles"]. She had anticipated some form of a block, perhaps a saber lock, but that would be impossible - just as the strike would have gotten to the proximity that one would react to, she shut her saber off and pushed forwards from her feet with as much strength as she could muster while her free hand fetched the shoto from her side and activated the blade while holding it across her midsection as a guard, only to reactivate the weapon behind her master with the intent of catching him off guard.

The attack Veles intended to meet with a parry turned into nothing as his apprentice's blade disappeared and the Mon Cal's crimson blade met nothing but air. Was [member="Silara Vantai"] intending to use Trakata? A fresh apprentice should not have the knowledge of the power, so at first it surprised Veles, as the only reason of shutting down a lightsaber in a duel he could think of seemed to be Trakata, turning off a weapon and reigniting it. A very effective, yet very dangerous move, usually resulting in death of one ofthe combatants.

It first it appeared his apprentice wished to leave herself defenceless for some reason, but Veles' lips soon curved into a smile as he saw her tactic the next second. The young apprentice decided to bring her other weapon into the game! Letting his left armfall down, he moved the blade to meet with the re-ignited lightsaber that threatened to hit him from behind. At the same time, the amphibious Sith reached out with his right hand, the webbed claws going for her hand holding the shoto. As a lesson to demonstrate the importance of physical strength, and assuming he took hold of her hand, of course, Veles grabbed her and slowly moved Silara's own weapon protecting her torso to do the exact opposite.

Silara allowed herself a small smile, for while her master had blocked her saber with his, and grabbed a hold of her hand, he had forgot an important feature of Vahla physiology - their incredible flexibility. Having taken hold of her hand, he was put in a vary dangerous situation if she were to rotate her body slightly while twisting her fingers around her saber to rotate its direction - and that she did. Wordlessly she moved slightly, allowing her a better position while she released her grip on her saber and then took hold of them with her fingers and quickly flicked it around to hold it in the center of her palm in a reverse grip, which would have removed [member="Darth Veles"] hand unless he were to move his hand away, unless he had some sort of cortosis around it.

Still blocking the Acolyte's lightsaber that was behind him, the Mon Calamari simply moved his webbed claws closer to the weapon's hilt, catching it with his thumb before wrapping another webbed claw around the rest of the hilt before the two fingers touched. This gave him a bit of control over the woman's blade and he pushed the end emitting the plasma beam closer to her body, not allowing her to rotate it in her fingers.

While putting more pressure on her by doing so, Veles kicked out with his right foot, trying to hit the young woman in her left knee.
