Description: The Hekler'Kok RAMR-1, often just called the 'Ram' does just what its nickname suggests. Designed around a old design Noah had once shown to Republic higher ups, the RAMR-1 is a Anti-Materiel rifle using a 20mm cartridge that is expelled out of the barrel at a whopping 1,000 meters a second by a railgun system. Its main duty is to replace the AMR-1, which has been found to be inadequate when it comes to piercing medium vehicle armor and was slow to fire due to its bolt-action system, the RAMR-1 was a excellent replacement to the AMR-1. The first improvement had to be the piercing power, this was increased by replacing the 12.7mm cartridge with a much larger 20mm cartridge which is also aided by a raligun system in the barrel. The next improvement was the range, due to the much larger cartridge and the railgun system in the barrel, the RAMR-1 was able to squeeze out a full 1,000 meters more than the AMR-1. The next was the fire rate, to make it fire faster, the bolt-action system was replaced by a semi-auto firing system, allowing for more rounds to be fired in succession, though with the massive recoil, this is not advertised. All in all, if you need to stop a vehicle, or take out a enemy through a wall, this rifle is your weapon. To power the rifle, a power cell is inserted in to a slot near the barrel and allows the railgun to be shot.
Strengths:
  • Extreme Stopping Power
  • Extreme Range
  • Multiple Types of Rounds
Weaknesses:
  • Heavy
  • Recoil like a Wampa
  • LOUD!!!
  • Only 4 to 6 rounds

I am going to go ahead and give you a list of things I'd like to see addressed.
  • Weight increased to 15.33 kg (Based on adjustments to the Barrett M82)
  • What speed is the bullet being fired at for the range to only be 2600 m? (Most railguns fire a round at over 4000 m/s from 0m to 100m.)
  • Are explosive rounds capable of being used? If so, how would that work with a railgun system?
  • How is this weapon going to be capable of powering a railgun system?
  • Is there a system put in place to prevent the barrel of the gun from melting due to the heat that a railgun creates from firing, especially rapidly?

  1. Done
  2. That is because it is a low powered railgun, the types your talking about are cannons
  3. It would use it like a normal gun, there has been railgun rifles on this sight that have used explosives rounds
  4. Done
  5. That's why it has a tungsten barrel, which has a melting point of 6,191 Farenheit

Approval Without Development Thread
  • Include mention of chance of barrel warping due to the extreme temperatures railguns can reach after firing repeatedly in a short period of time. Any minor issues with how the bullet is firing (such as even touching the barrel) can quickly warp it at the temperatures that sort of friction can reach.
  • Include a better power source than a generic power cell or a cooldown for charging, a railgun uses a large amount of power to charge the projectile for firing and a regular power cell would have some sort of delay for charging prior to releasing a second or third shot.
  • Make mention that explosive rounds may not be fired - explosive rounds being fired through a railgun have the tendency to explode due to the incredible heat (and the fireball-esque trail that occasionally is left behind as the round exits the barrel) created. That, and electrically charging an explosive round is not recommended.
  • Make specific and explicit mention of recoil in the description. I am aware this is listed as a weakness, I do not want this glossed over by others.
With Development Thread
  • Include a 10 post development thread which includes testing for ensuring the round never touches the sides of the barrel of the gun, and an energy source capable of handling the power output for rapid sequence firing.
  • Add 5 more posts to the development thread (or 10 posts standalone) with testing done for some sort of casing or material on the round which will not cause an explosive round to explode in the barrel.
