Intent: To provide cargo containers for light and medium freighters
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Ringovinda Systems
Model: Hedeek-class intermodal cargo container
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: Can add a refrigerator unit at one end, in which case it is called a reefer; also available in tanker configuration
Production: Mass-Produced.
Material: Alusteel (refrigerator components if the refrigerator unit is installed)

Length: 13.7 meters
Width: 2.45 meters
Height: 2.90 meters
Mass: 5 tons

Strengths:

- Strong construction
- Faster unloading than with break freight
- Can fit a wide array of freighters and merchandise (stock and reefer versions)
- Can be loaded on speeder trucks or trains

Weaknesses:

- High tare (empty) weight compared to other container models, even more so when refrigerator units are added
- Vulnerable to theft in a spaceport, more so than larger containers
- Requires specialized equipment for loading containers on speeder trucks or on trains

Description: The Hedeek-class cargo container is designed for easy stacking, using a twistlock system on the corners of the container, so as to minimize the waste of space inside a cargo hold. It can even be used on ships as small as the Neimoidian Yacht (it is capable of holding 12 such containers), but most uses of the Hedeek is on larger units, such as the Tofolk-class, where it can speed up loading and unloading of such ships. Each of the Hedeeks can provide 86.5 cubic meters of internal space (stock), 77 cubic meters (refrigerated) or 54 cubic meters (tanker) and is capable of carrying up to 29 tons of cargo inside (stock and refrigerated) or 72 tons (tanker). It can easily be attached via clamps or electromagnets on starship floors, between each other or between containers of different types. As with containers in general, it makes loading and unloading faster, as well as multiple trips more frequent. Each Hedeek is equipped with a magnetic lock holding the two locking clasps together to keep the contents securely inside the container during travel.
