The HB-42 Pistol was manufactured by BlasTech during the era of the Maw conflicts in order to provide military forces with a capable autopistol. Unfortunately, the weapon’s low capacity caused it to be rejected by the militaries of the era. As a consequence, they discontinued the line. Tampson Consolidated purchased the manufac turing license from BlasTech, suspecting the pistol could still find a market with civilian security forces and paramilitary units. They were right, as the weapon’s high damage output and high rate of fire, combined with its high accuracy, make it useful to units which can only afford one weapon and need it to counter a wide range of security threats. While the pistol does require frequent replacing of its powercell and gas supply, it fulfills the need for a carbine as well as a pistol, allowing one person to confront multiple armored assailants with something they can holster at their hip.
