DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES

The regenerative cap drain features inlays of Hijarna stones, allowing it to not simply negate the effects of conner nets, EMPs and other ion-based weapons, it also allows the cap drain to absorb incoming turbolasers and other energy-based fire in the vicinity of the cap drain.

Strengths:
  • Allows for enhanced recharging of shields
  • Allows enhanced protection against most forms of energy attacks
Weaknesses :
  • Can be destroyed by well-placed projectile weapons fire
  • If the power conduits from the cap drain to the shield generators are severed, it provides no benefits to the shields
  • Requires functional shield generators for optimal function
  • Can only absorb a finite amount of fire before the Hijarna stone inlays must be replaced
  • Difficult and expensive to repair if damaged
DESCRIPTION

The Haruna regenerative cap drain is fitted with hijarna stone inlays the size of pebbles, which allows it to absorb incoming energy weapons fire, including, but not limited to, ion weapons and turbolasers. When connected to the ship's shield generators, the energy from the blasts absorbed by the Hijarna stone inlays are redirected to the shield generators: superconducting vonium can allow it to limit the dissipation of the energy as it flows to the shield generators. Understandably, with kilometers of vonium cables linking the cap drains to the nearest shield generators, it can be rendered useless by collateral damage if the cables are severed. That said, the Haruna regenerative cap drain has its limits: the Hijarna stone inlays can only absorb so much energy before they break, reducing its efficiency, which means that it will become just like an ordinary cap drain by that point. That, even though, in practice, when that point is reached, taking an additional hit is likely to result in a hull breach where the cap drain used to stand, so it increases the ship's survivability but does not render it indesctructible. Of course, a particular cap drain could have a harder time against consolidated fire beyond ~10-15 turbolasers a pop.

Hi, sorry for the wait. This sub looks in place, but it's missing the modularity field; add it in and you're all set.
