Harris' training

Harris stood upon the throne. He rubbed his chin and thought for a moment, finally he turned to Wills.

"I think it's time that we discuss what happened during the evacuation of the throne."

"What about it sir?"

"Well... I pushed somebody with the force. I want to know more about the possibilities of me being force sensative. And if I am, just how I could use my powers."

"Well sir, there is an ex-dominion operative named Ra in the lords, we could try to ask her if she would like to help you, 'improve' you situation."

"Great idea Wills, send out the beacon and let's see if we get a response."

A call she had been anticipating for a while finally reached her. Ra responded, sending a return transmission between the two of them. Since Harris had set a beacon, she knew where to find him.

Gathering up a few things she felt she was going to need, among them an old staff she had used along with some wooded training swords and knives. Unsure what Harris knew or didn't know was something she would learn after she arrived.

It was unknown to almost everybody else that she could even use the Force, Harris would remember from those Dominion days. However fleeting their time together then, that fact would have been remembered. Where he had gone, Ra did not know. Anything that had happened in his life over the course of those years was also unknown. This would be an interesting reunion on more levels than almost anybody would ever have, for both of them.

Climbing on to her old ship, she set course to join up with him and arrived shortly after. Not bothering to hide her ability here, she trusted her comrade and his crew to not disclose her secret.

A ship came out of hyperspace. Commander Wills glanced at Harris and then back at the old ship drifting towards them.

"Sir, new contact is attempting to hail us sir."

Harris looked down at the bridge coms-officer, "Allow it."

Harris felt something as the ship approached. It was like a tug, or a pull. His eyes drifted downwards. He inspected his uniform, he rubbed the dust off his sword, and then he turned towards the back of the bridge and began walking down the catwalk past the officers.

Harris made his way throughout the halls, returning the salutes of his men as he passed. Finally he reached the Hanger. He looked out into the vacuum as the ship silently lifted to a visible position outside the hanger.

Harris scanned the ship as it slowly hummed ahead and moved to the open landing pad. He fidgeted and did a last minute check of his boots and pants, just to be sure. The ship touched down and the ramp clicked and creaked. Steam was released and the the door pushed itself open.

Harris looked into Ra''s eyes. He motioned for a crewman to approach the ship. The he began to walk towards Ra, who was now at the bottom of the ramp.

"Ra'a'mah, it's been too long."

She wore something very similar to what she had for years. This wasn't entirely business though so while it was present, she didn't wear her cloak. With the thought of it not being business, Ra did not wear anything fancy. It was still nice looking though and well made. Her pants were black and fit well on her, her boots were a dark brown and peaked out from under the hem of her pants. Her shirt was white, it's sleeves hung loose from the elbow down so she could have easy access to the saber hilts that were hidden up inside them. Over her shirt was a sea green vest that had a few gold ornaments attached. Her hair in the past had always been braided, but today she kept it down. There was no need for her to have the spiked ball attached around him.

Harris hadn't changed much from what Ra remembered. He met her eyes and she gave him a nod as he walked up to her ship after she landed and exited. His crewmen also approached with him, probably to check and make sure everything was still fine with her old ship. It was her original ship from many years ago and she had not had much opportunity to fly it for a while, but everything was kept in working order.

"It has been a while, Harris. How have you been? Doesn't look like you've aged at all."

Moving to meet him, she held a hand out to him.

"It has been a while, Harris. How have you been? Doesn't look like you've aged at all."

Moving to meet him, she held a hand out to him.

Harris took Ra's hand and shook it.

"Well, from what I understand about time travel, lost time doesn't catch up with you." He let out a little laugh and the pulled away. "Come Ra, please, we have much to discuss."

He gestured for her to follow and she did. As she stepped away from her ship, crewman ran towards it and began refueling and making minor repair for there new guest.

Harris walked down the hall, with Ra close to his side.

"So Ra, I thank you for coming out on such short notice. I hope you understand, but I wouldn't trust many other people with something like this."

He walked to the door for his private quarters and it slid open, they both stepped in and Harris turned and locked it. Ra looked around the room as Harris relaxed and took his sword from his side and placed it on his display.

"I was wondering, if you could help me to better understand the powers that I have unlocked. I released them in an attempt to save myself and my men, but I want to know how to call upon the force whenever needed, not just in life or death. Can you help me?"

He turned to face her and looked into her eyes.

"Ah time travel, interesting. Not something I actually knew was possible. It's good to know you somehow lived though. What was it like?"

Falling into step with him, she didn't follow, but walked next to him. Harris thanked her for coming on short noticed and she shook her head slightly.

"I expected a request at some point. Not always running around with the fleet you know. So I have a bit of time before the next port calls and I'll have to leave. Belive me, I understand entirely. The Metal Lords and Free Worlds have no clue at all I can use the Force, let alone what my alignment is. Remember the number one rule of the Metal Lords? Never make a deal with a sith. So for the last two years here, that aspect of my life has been kept secret and I trust you won't reveal it."

He closed and locked the door to his quarters. So when she spoke the last part it was behind the closed door. Looking at him, her eyes were a natural gold and showed no signs of corruption. A follower of the sith code, but not evil by nature. Ra was a very unconventional sith.

Listening to what he said about his brief use and exposure to using the Force, she nodded before speaking.

"It is quite common to have a first experience like that when under stress or threat. Now that having been said, yes I can attempt to help you. I want to ask a few questions if that is fine with you."

She would wait until he answered before starting with her questioning. Inviting herself in more at this point, Ra took a seat in one of the chairs provided for more intimate meetings such as this.

"I can answer your questions, but first. Would you like a beverage?"

"Yes. What exactly?"

"Ah, just some tea."

Harris move to the door and opened it, he reached out as an officer stopped at the door and delivered a pot and some glasses. Harris thanked him and then relocked the door and poured Ra a glass of the hot beverage.

"Don't burn yourself."

Harris poured his glass and then placed the pot off to the side, in case they wanted more. He took a sip of the tea and smiled. He looked up at Ra and placed his glass on the table. Harris leaned back, shifted in his seat for a moment, and then finally got still.

"Now, What are these questions you wanted to ask?"

Accepting the tea when Harris brought it over, she thanked him and set the cup down on the table next to her chair to give it a few minutes to cool down. Knowing how hot these drinks were on ships, Ra knew how long it would take to cool down before she could drink it comfortably and not slurp.

Waiting until Harris made himself comfortable and replied to her question, she nodded.

"Well, what exactly happened on your ship. Beyond the bare basics of using it to save lives. Very commendable that."

She gave him a real smile, not hiding behind any façade of business. Ra was fully herself here today. Anything she thought or felt about something would be obvious to Harris if he knew how to read people and their expressions.

Harris took another sip of his tea and then once more readjusted.

"Well, we were attacked by these creatures called the deep ones. Basically, when I went missing for all that time, I only experienced like 30 seconds of dark. After 30 seconds of Dark, the ship's in the fleet experienced some sort of power issue. When we once again seen the stars and the system, it had been almost 7 months, and we felt it as only 1-2 minutes."

Harris leaned foreword a bit.

"It was odd, our calendars all recalibrated when we reconnected. I thought it was some sort of joke, I honestly tried to contact the dominion for help. But, nobody answered. So, I kept broadcasting and the Metal lords found me and my 'Remnant'. The gave me assistance in return for some assistance. That assistance included patrols around their space, which wasn't that bad, or so I thought."

Harris reached for the Pot and poured himself more tea, and then blew on it and sipped.

"We got ambushed by the cephalopods with weapons I'd never seen before. It was awful, and I had to resort to hand to hand fighting in the halls of the ship. Finally, when we realized she couldn't be saved, we evacuated her. And when we were leaving, a bounty hunter by the name of deadeye attempted to stop us. He is why I realized my ability to use the force. I pushed him back, the Throne blew, and we got this pretty new thing as our replacement."

Ra listened until Harris was done, sipping on her beverage.

His story was quite interesting to her and Ra took a mental note of it. As he went on to explain what happened when the Throne was destroyed, she nodded. Having helped bring some of his men from the ship before it blew, she knew what had happened outside of the ship. Harris now told her what happened inside with him and when she had felt his Force use.

Setting the cup back down, she leaned forward when he finished and looked at him closely. Not with any hostility, but a sense of purpose. He had requested she come to help him and that is what she would do.

"Okay, so right now you can only touch the Force when you're under fear or stress. To a military man, this might be an odd question, but it is the best way to learn how to reach the Force willingly. Do you know how to meditate?"

[member="Lord Harris"]

"Yes I do, one of the things I was thought growing up. My 'Father', was very passionate about learning the ways of the force, but he could never use it like I had."

Harris looked at Ra now with questioning eyes, he was curious about how this was gonna tie into him using the force, seeing as he was rarely around force users. He stayed and waited for a response for a moment. As he sat, he though about how good it felt when he first used the force. Looking into Ra's eyes, he was excited to see what she could teach him.

Like what had become common in this conversation, Harris shifted position and this time cleared his throat.

"How does that connect with my ability to use the force?"

It was a good thing he knew how to meditate. Harris was already one up on when it she first started learning to use the Force. It wouldn't have been a huge issue and she would have taught it to him, but when he answered, Ra nodded. When he asked how it would help him connect to the Force, she took a sip of her tea finishing off the cup and setting it back down before answering.

"When your meditating, you usually close out everything external to yourself. This allows you feel inward. The Force flows through everything, Harris."

That was the most simple answer to provide and hopefully she did it in such a way that he could understand what she meant. Noticing he kept shifting around in his chair, she knew it wouldn't be a good location for him to meditate at first. He really was curious though and eager to learn.

"When your meditating, you usually close out everything external to yourself. This allows you feel inward. The Force flows through everything, Harris."

Harris pondered on this for a moment, he didn't know that. He sat for a moment, trying to decide what to say next. He though for a solid moment in the room. It was complete silence. Finally, he looked up at maul and stuttered for a moment before getting the right words out.

"B-But, If the force flows through everything, then how come only the Jedi and Sith are capable of wielding it? I'm slightly confused on how that works."

Harris admitted he was slightly confused as to why only certain people could use the Force and Ra would appear to shrug as she thought of an answer to the question. It wasn't something she had given much thought to herself so wasn't positive on the answer.

"I can give you my theory, but that is all it is. Think of the ability to use the Force as something genetic. Most often if one parent or both were able to use the Force, then a child could too. Not everybody gets that gene though, so that would be why most people can't use the Force. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not, but it's the most likely reason I can think of."

Standing up, Ra moved to get herself more of the tea and set the decanter back down after pouring herself a glass. By her actions, it might show Harris that even though she could use the Force, it wasn't something she employed all the time.

Harris watched Ra stand and get more tea, as she sat he gave out a small chuckle.

"Must really like your tea."

She sipped on the still-hot liquid and Harris straightened his face. He looked into her eyes and waited for her to put the glass down. There was a moment of silence that was quickly broken by Harris.

"When could I begin learning how to control it Ra? I have this new power that I'm intrigued by, and I don't know how to control it. If you can help me, I'd be in your debt."

"I can't complain."

She said this in reply to his comment about the tea. It also gave her something to do as she thought about the different ways to answer his questions and not look like a fool in front of him. If there was something she didn't know, Ra had no issue admitting that and would attempt to find answer for him if he still wanted it.

As she set the cup down and after a moment of silence as he looked at her, he asked when he could learn how to control it. Opening up her hands and more or less indicating his room and maybe even his ship beyond before answering.

"Right now. You need to learn how to actively reach it first before you can think of learning how to control it. It is easiest through meditation. Feel it, touch it and then control it. Does this make sense? I will help you as the Dominion helped me years ago."

Harris looked at Ra and smiled. "Thank so much Ra."

Harris stood and turned away from the table and stepped into the middle of the room and then sat on the floor. He looked at @[member='Ra'a'mah'], smiled, and then closed his eyes and sat silently, he focused very strongly on the thought of the force. He tried, struggled, but he couldn't feel anything.

"What am I supposed to do? I don't feel anything."

Nodding when Harris thanked her, she watched as he stood up and took a seat on the floor. She joined him moments later, he might hear the movement of her clothes as she sat down next to him.

Meditation wasn't something Ra had done much of recently with her focus more on work than the Force. She knew it was always there for her though.

"It may not be that easy to just feel it right away, Harris. The Force is like a river that flows. Search within yourself for that. It's like a companion."

That was the best way she could think of to explain it.

"Might take a little long to even sense it. Just be patient and you'll find it."
