SETTING INFORMATION

[*]Accessibility: The lobby is open to the public from the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The 2nd floor is typically for employees only, though open for scheduled tours or business meetings. The basement level is highly restricted and never open to the public.
SECURITY

The ground floor of the Harnaidan HoloNet Hub is kept in order by ten Mk. I Trajan-Class War Droids. The second floor is monitored by only five. Of these fifteen, they are armed only with blaster pistols and stun batons.

It’s the basement level that sees the most security procedures. There are multiple auto-turrets built into the ceiling at various junctures and more than a few ray shield traps. The remaining seventy Mk. Is are kept down here and are much more heavily armed than their counterparts on the first and second floors, not to mention equipped with personal shield generators.

In times of incredible duress, blast doors can be activated and magnetically sealed - cutting off both the nodes and the hallways. For when things get really depressing, a pair of Impervium-forged Mk. II Trajan-Class War Droids can be activated to further aid in the defense of the Harnaidan HoloNet Hub.

DESCRIPTION

The ground floor is readily accessible to the public. It is a rather posh lobby adorned in classical Muun style and with luxurious windows, providing ample natural lighting. Fancy paintings and potted plants are a common fixture. Near the two elevators lies a display case and plaque, commemorating the history of the Harnaidan HoloNet Hub and its importance to the region.

To the left of the display case, the elevator that sits there is perfectly mundane… Aside from the fact it requires an employee ID card to unlock and subsequently access. This elevator takes people to the second floor and nowhere else. The second floor is a predictably luxurious office space, dominated by 67 cubicles. There are also three distinct and large corner offices for the more important office supervisors.

The elevator on the right is where things get interesting. For starters, it is guarded by a pair of heavy, magnetically sealed blast doors. Only the communications technicians have the proper credentials to unlock them, and even then they are also subject to a retinal scan. These technicians arrive all at once several hours before the building is open so that the doors do not have to be continually opened and closed. Once in the basement, they do not leave until 7:00 PM.

The basement is where the magic happens. It is a sleek, subterranean labyrinth of winding durasteel corridors. There is one central hallway that leads straight to Node 5. Smaller hallways on the left take you to Nodes 1 through 4 - hallways on the right take you to Nodes 6 through 9. Many systems in the Pentastar Alignment go through the Harnaidan HoloNet Hub for their communications and HoloNet access. Trillions of civilian transmissions and HoloNet access records are recorded daily. As one can expect, the Hub’s internal communications equipment is rather robust as a result.

In addition to the high tech nodes, each with a distinct purpose, there are a few refreshers scattered around for the Muun technicians that work down here. There’s also a droid maintenance bay for the Sallust-Class Service Droids which work down here and an armory for the Mk. I Trajan-Class War Droids which keep the area secure. Stored in the armory are also a pair of Mk. II Trajan-CLass War Droids.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Node 01: HoloNet access node. This node monitors the HoloNet activities of all HoloNet users whose connection passes through this node. Activity is immediately recorded and sent to Node 03 or 02.
  • Node 02: Databanks. This node serves as a gargantuan storage unit for the volumes of data constantly being processed by the Harnaidan Holonet Hub.
  • Node 03: Databanks. This node serves as a gargantuan storage unit for the volumes of data constantly being processed by the Access Network.
  • Node 04: HoloNet access node. This node monitors the HoloNet activities of all HoloNet users whose connection passes through this node. Activity is immediately recorded and sent to Node 03 or 02.
  • Node 05: This node is the nerve center for all the activities carried out by the other nodes. This node contains a connection to the HSNET so as to maintain communications with the rest of the Helix Syndicate. An H01 Artificial Intelligence (codenamed Digital Witness) is present here to assist in coordinating activities.
  • Node 06: Finance node. Fully refurbished. Heavily defended. This node is configured to constantly monitor the fluctuations of the various stock markets present in the Pentastar Alignment while also trawling HoloNet news sites and intercepted communications relating to the regional economy. It then pools together this intelligence to make reliable market predictions. These predictions are collated into dispatches and sent to paying customers bi-weekly.
  • Node 07: Communications node, interplanetary. This node monitors and processes communications that are traveling between two different planets. For deciphering encrypted communications, an Aurelius-Class Decryption Engine is utilized.
  • Node 08: Communications node, planetary. This node monitors and processes communications that are transmitted from somewhere on Muunilinst to another place on Muunilinst. For deciphering encrypted communications, an Aurelius-Class Decryption Engine is utilized.
  • Node 09: Databanks. This node serves as a gargantuan storage unit for the volumes of data constantly being processed by the Harnaidan Holonet Hub.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Oh, the joys of HoloNet Communication. The Harnaidan HoloNet Hub has served the Pentastar Alignment for over a thousand years now, struggling through war and famine and recession and so forth. But never once did it falter. For all the chaos and carnage that befell it, it always remained a beacon of fast, reliable interstellar communication.

Its reliability, longevity, and cutting edge technology have all seen it rise to become the Pentastar Alignment’s premier communications hub. Some have likened it to the Network Access of Nar Shaddaa. However, the Harnaidan HoloNet hub has the advantage of not being a Hutt Space backwater, so it likely functions much more efficiently.

And just recently, it became privatized. Nothing seemed to change overtly and few even realize a change has taken place. Shadowy forces within the Sith Empire had the Hub privatized, then failed to intervene when the Helix Syndicate moved itself in. The Syndicate upgraded the defenses and installed some extra security precautions.

Now the Syndicate has unfettered access to another gargantuan marketplace of intelligence data; unrestricted ability to spy on the hapless residents of the Pentastar Alignment. It’s a black day for HoloNet privacy advocates… But a happier one for the Helix Syndicate and its allies.
