Jonyna had been run ragged the last few months, but news still got to her rather quickly. She wasn't usually one to call in to the temple asking for time off, but today was a different case.

Jasper. Her predecessor. He'd been missing for the last few months, at least that's what she had heard. Keeping up with the Kai'el's had unfortunately become a low priority in her days as a Councilwoman, but hearing he was now safe at home, Jonyna had taken a chance to go visit him.

The planet of Sacorria was one Jonyna had never thought to visit. She was sure Ko Vuto Ko Vuto could give her a full lecture on it's importance as an agri-world, but the Alliance's farming practices had never been too important to Jonyna, even if she was technically in charge of the agricorps. That part of the Service Corps had always been a bit of a self-sustaining part of the order, very rarely needing her oversight. As the Reaper came down, Jonyna paused as she looked up to see the sight of Jasper's homestead, built high up into a cliff.

About two hours later...

"...jasper...you...sonofa-"

She paused to let out a gasp, as she finally, tiredly, knocked on the door.

"...jasper...you...sonofa-"

She paused to let out a gasp, as she finally, tiredly, knocked on the door.

Jasper opened the door and let out a sigh.

"Dude..." he muttered. "You know I have a landing pad up here. And... there's a gondola."

Jonyna hadn't changed at least. You couldn't put any forethought into that mind, it seemed. Jasper would laugh a little as he gestured for the Kathar Jedi Master to enter into his home, where he would lead her to a small living room. A collection of crescent shaped pastries sat on a tray on his coffee table, the cheesy contents they were stuffed peaking out enough to suggest that they were most likely pizza adjacent.

"Help yourself," he suggested. " Phy Phy analyzed them and told me they were edible and probably tasted good, so I'm confident they won't kill you."

He made his way into the nearby kitchen, pouring two glasses of Corellian Whiskey. Not much, but just enough to sip at for a while. Large cube-shaped blocks of ice clunked down into either glass respectively, and the Jedi Master proceeded to line the rims of each glass with citrus juice.

Just to add a little extra flavor.

"So... what have I missed?"

Really, she wouldn't researched the world herself had she thought she'd have been there longer than a day. Then again, research was always that bit harder when you struggled to understand the words on the page.

Taking a moment to sit down, she sunk into the chair, and grabbed a slice of whatever food Jasper was offering her. She couldn't complain, but she was tempted for a moment to chuck it at his head as he reminded her of the landing pad. Her fault, but still, the temptation was there.

"Oh, Yoda's beard. Tons." She let out, finally swallowing a bite. "Pretty sure Val had another kid since you were gone, and I broke up with my girlfriend. Currently mulling over the single life. Also, Woostri. We got invaded again, the Sith are on the warpath, and I'm trying to figure out how to combat them." She sighed, rolling her shoulders. "Not all bad news though. I gave your ship the Dawnbreaker a few friends. Fixed up a pair of venators, and took Sularen's ship you damn near stole and turned it into a giant hospital. Currently they're parked over Tython. Oh! That too. The Empire's gone, and we took back the Core. Val has the order moved back to the temple there instead of Coruscant. It's weird, I had finally gotten used to the white noise of the city."

Valery had another kid. He had been told this, but it was funny. She seemed to have more every time you blinked or looked away. It was a lot of love to put out into the world, and it spoke to how much love one woman could have.

"Tython is probably for the best," he finally decided. "Coruscant is my home... I grew up there, but it isn't always the best for teaching students. The natural world is very limited there, and you can't interact with people on a smaller scale when everything is larger than life. I'm sure that was the right call."

He did take some joy in hearing Sularen's vessel that he commanded at the Battle of Coruscant had been captured. He wore the bloodstripes he earned that day with pride.

Jasper made his way over and handed her a glass of whiskey before taking a sip of his own.

"I may drop by..." Jasper noted. "But I'd like to make it known that I won't be on duty for a while. That will strictly be a visit. That's more for me than you. Y'know, so the council makes sure I'm not doing anything."

"Probably for the best. And I don't mean that in a mean way, I'm just..." She let out a groan. "I've come to realize how much work you put in while I was just a knight. So much paperwork..." She let out another groan, taking a shot of the whiskey. She was sure Allyson Locke Allyson Locke was somewhere screaming about her chugging more of it.. "I'm more worried about the sith, to be honest. I don't know how to reason with someone who wants to eradicate all life, other than with a saber blade. And...I don't want to have to keep doing that."

"The Sith are always a crisis," Jasper noted. "But they are a crisis with no end. You're not wrong to worry, but you also haven't seen this cycle play out as many times as I have. That's sort of just how the job goes." He gave a soft laugh when she took a shot of the whiskey. "That one is a sipper, by the way. You let the ice bring out the notes of flavor."

The Jedi Master understood better than anyone how that sort of thing ate at the soul. Endless worrying had been the better part of his adult life, and even his childhood for that matter.

"I've worked myself nearly to death more times than I could count," he stated. "It comes with the territory... but dance with death enough and you sort of recognize that dying is also terrible. You leave behind a lot of good things, folks who probably rely on you. I'm not saying that to dissuade you, but I am offering something to consider."

He paused for a moment.

"Here, why don't you come with me. There's something I'd like to show you."

Jonyna was about to bring up her arguments before with Vulpesen Vulpesen , but Jasper spoke once more before she could. "Alright, just don't make me climb another sixty sets of stairs." She smirked as she stood up, flexing her toes slightly in her boots. "You're not gonna show me you had a kid too, are you? I figured Braze Braze was enough for you. How's he doing by the by? Haven't seen him around in a long while."

Jasper paused, then continued walking.

"Braze has... had it rough," he noted. "He took my absence pretty hard. He'll be going to get his jaw reconstructed soon... I hope that will help improve his mood."

The Jedi Master sighed as he opened a door to reveal a nursery, letting out a huff.

"You know, you really stole my thunder," Jasper remarked. "All that lead up and you just guessed it, really took the wind out of my sails. Don't worry about being too loud, lil dude is still awake. He's not really got much going through his head right now..."

A cradle stood in the center of the room, a mobile sporting starfighters spinning above. Within was a blonde infant, bright green eyes. They were glued to the rotating figures above, not quite able to follow any one yet. He was still in the process of developing his object permanence. Jasper sighed, leaning over the side of the crib.

"Yeah... he's still watching it," he observed. "Cole is his name. He was born while I was unceremoniously whisked away. Kind of a surprise to come back to after... well, you know..."

"Oh..." She paused, pouting slightly. She would need to visit Braze at some point, she had no idea he had lost his jaw. Too busy, she was. "Sorry, I guess." She said as they entered the nursery, and in that moment, Jonyna felt a pain. She was 33, and yet to have a kid of her own. Yet to have a relationship of her own that lasted.

"...how'd you make it work?"
She asked, blunt as ever. She looked over to the little guy, poking her tail out and waggling it for the kid to watch. "Relationships, I mean. I've been bouncing from one to another ever since I came out of the ice. Can't seem to stick to one longer than 6 months. Got so close, proposed to Jenn....we both realized it wasn't going to work. So what's your secret?"

"I mean... I sorta just stuck it out," Jasper stated. "We accommodated where we saw we could and things sorta worked I'm not saying that to say it was perfect... just that we never seemed to drift apart. Maybe I just got lucky. I'm not sure I'm even that good at giving relationship advice. I've only really had the one, y'know?"

Cole would momentarily glance towards Jonyna's tail, but his attention was quickly drawn back to the mobile. Spaceships were clearly much more interesting to him.

"If you can talk openly, that's a good start," he suggested. "It's good you can at least recognize when something isn't working out."

Obsessed with starships. He really was Jasper's kid. She smirked, pulling the tail away before looking back to the man in question. "Jenn was going her own way. I was getting more involved with the Alliance, Jenn wanted nothing to do with it. I still love her, but...we couldn't be honest about that. That's where we broke. She wanted to go off and live with her fleet, I couldn't follow her. I just..."

She paused, looking much more sad that anyone had ever seen her. For that moment, the mask fell off.

"...I sometimes wonder if I'm fated to be alone. Ever since I came out of the ice, I've always felt...distant to those around me. Like they don't understand what it's like to live two lives."

"Or you just aren't letting yourself be understood," Jasper stated. "If you let your fears dictate your mind then they become real. That can be true of anything. If you don't believe that anyone can understand living two lives than they won't. Patience is important... rush in and cling desperately and you may just wind up crushing something good."

Jasper gave Jonyna a soft smile.

"Look, you just gotta put yourself out there and not worry too much," he assured. "Yes, life is short seeming, but it isn't as short as you may initially think. Time, honesty, and a level head will keep things moving. Be open to change, be ready and willing to share, but be ready to let go as well when dynamics shift and change. Maybe you're just coming in with too heavy of a hand, y'know?"

He offered a shrug.

"Or maybe I'm off the mark. That's something really only you can decide."

Jonyna smiled calmly as Jasper spoke. She didn't think he got her situation, but...

She was just happy to have someone in her corner. Him especially, someone she respected immensely. "You're a good friend, and I think you'll make a good dad. Need any advice on that? I've been a mom for about 2 years now, I know a thing or two."

"I'll... be in touch if anything comes up," Jasper agreed with a chuckle.

Cole yawned, the infants eyes beginning to droop. He slept a lot, really. It was sort of surprising to Jasper just how much infants slept. Perhaps that was just from all the growing they had to do. They needed the energy.

"Why don't we head back to the living room," he decided. "Little guy looks like he wants to go back to sleep..."

"Probably best." Jonyna smirked, looking down to the little guy. "Kids that age don't do much other than eat and sleep." She turned, following Jasper to the living room. "Alright, so answer me this then. Who's the mom? I didn't realize you had a girlfriend, let alone a wife." The cathar's ears twitched at the thought. "...you did marry them, right?"
