Appearance:
Haldor is a monster of a man, his Epicanthix blood being the prime culprit. A body of muscle chiseled and shaped through years of war. Growing up amongst warriors and living in the treacherous mountains on Midvinter, made it impossible for Haldor to not become physically imposing. Although time has worn against his body, decorated with numerous scars. One of the more notable ones cuts across his right eye. Where there was once a full head of hair, now there is nothing but a bald head revealing more of his pale complexion. The only remaining facial hair he has, is a large beard. One of Haldor’s defining characteristics is the large red tattoo painted onto his body. Starting across his left eye, it trails over his head and around his neck, down his back towards his left hip where it curves up along his upper body and ending around his shoulder in a sharp point. The mark primary signifies his mastery of fire, but it also has a more personal significance as being a declaration of his bond and devotion towards Freya.

Personality:
He is a gentle soul, with a buried inferno for a heart - Freya.

The years spent as an outcast had done little good to Haldor’s mental state as he grew up. Scorned and pushed aside as an outsider, there were very few he could rely on. Very quickly it became easy for him to fall on violence as his answer for everything, especially upon realizing he could intimidate and strongarm those threatening him. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Haldor was a brute growing up. And to this day, that hasn’t truly gone away. It was still ingrained in his very being despite his efforts to keep it in check. Freya was the source of his greatest change, even if their younger years would’ve said otherwise. She was only one that could really “match” him, someone who’d still stand toe to toe no matter what was thrown at him. In more recent years, Haldor had become significantly more mellow in comparison to his youth. No longer quick to rage when outside of fights, and holding back gut instincts to lash out or resort to intimidation to get his way. Although that’s not an easy feat with having such a useful crutch to fall back on.

Traits:
[ Strongjaw ] - He is a tank when it comes to how much damage he can take. But it also expands out to emotionally too. Years spent scorned and outcasted has hardened Haldor’s heart and mind.

[ Fire Shaper ] - Years of dedication have been put into developing his Kro Varian shaping. While the elements as a whole are available to him, fire is his greatest focus.

[ I Would Like To Rage ] - Haldor’s rage was once an untamed beast that was unleashed on anyone he deemed deserved it. These days however, he has managed to forge it into a tool. However, it still remains a double edged sword for the times it manages to slip through the cracks.

[ Self-Doubt ] - It had been a constant presence as he grew up, lingering until the day he could fight back. However there have been significant events in Haldor’s life that have been turned upside down to such a degree that the crippling self-doubt has never truly gone away.

[ Emotionally Sheltered ] - You’ll never be able to draw much emotion out of Haldor, unless you’re Freya or someone who’s managed to piss him off. In which case, it’s nothing but rage.

History:
Even before he was born, fate was not kind to Haldor. His parents had fled to Midvinter in order to hide, unfortunately their ship crashed in the more mountainous terrain. They managed to get themselves to a nearby village, one of several that had kept their little society separate from the mainland plains. However, it also meant their prejudice against outsiders had barely dwindled over the years. Haldor’s father was solely concerned on keeping his pregnant wife safe, a difficult task given the freezing temperatures. Their reception at the village was equally as cold, finding barely any support as the pair tried to survive. Fortunately the matriarch had some heart, enough to help them ensure their child was born. Despite his best efforts, the father died perished to the cold before he could see his son born. The mother managed to survive thanks to her Kro Varian blood, but wasn’t able to endure the strain of childbirth. And thus a baby was born into a village he was an outcast of. But the matriarch wasn’t going to abandon him, she had taken an oath to ensure newborns were given a chance to survive.

Without a name from his mother’s lips, the matriarch named him Haldor.

She raised him until he was old enough to walk and talk. Providing him a basic education and kept well fed throughout those initial years. No one was about to go against the matriarch’s word, therefore Haldor was rendered untouchable, although that didn’t stop all the looks and whispers. Eventually though that protection would disappear, and Haldor would be left to fend for himself. That was just simply the way of things for outcasts, but he wasn’t going to let it keep him down. His blood was strong, and he was able to keep up with the other children as they all grew older and stronger. A few months into his isolation, Haldor had his first encounter with Freya. She was roughly a year older than him, and it was clear from the get go she didn’t like him. Despite their near similar stories, Haldor’s rather abrasive attitude sparked a hatred between the pair. He had very few people to count on, ones that wouldn’t simply ignore or bully him. Yet somehow, Freya ended up becoming a constant in his life even if it was butting heads and fighting.

Around the age of twelve, Haldor was in a brawl with Freya. One that had gotten particularly heated with both trading blows and not pulling back in the slightest. It hit a point where Freya attacked using her innate control over ice. Haldor was running on instinct and defended himself with fire. Both were taken by surprise, neither realizing until then that the young outcast was in fact Kro Varian. Freya almost immediately tried to hide it, to a point of threatening Haldor to not mention it. She knew what her parents would do, and she didn’t want that burden on her family. Unfortunately for her, the fight had ended up as a bit of a spectacle and it was difficult to keep quiet about this development. Her parents didn’t hesitate to take Haldor into their care, the mother being a Kro Varian felt it was only right that she taught the young boy how to control his ability to shape the elements.

The hatred between Haldor and Freya only grew worse after this.

As an outcast herself, Freya and her family were further ostracized for helping Haldor. While her parents weren’t overly bothered by this, Freya was. Her hatred from him grew even more, until slowly she didn’t. As time wore on, and Freya assisted (begrudgingly) her mother in Haldor’s training, the hate simmered away. A big part of this was the fact Haldor had learned of the family’s past, the fact they shared a similar status as him. It helped with his attitude towards Freya, and slowly but surely their dislike for one another lessened. A bond was formed where the two would fight and defend one another, one got bullied? The other would come to their aid. Albeit that usually resulted in a physical retaliation, than not.

The years passed by, and the pair were well into their teens when war broke out. The largest settlement within the mountains had become too large and boastful. Attacking neighbouring villages with technology they had pilfered from outsiders that had crashed within the region. With the risk of being destroyed, the remaining villages banded together in order to assault the settlement. It sparked a conflict that would last for years, the strong and capable being sent away to fight. Holdar and Freya were part of the village’s choice, the pair travelling together to fight for their continued survival.

During that time, they came across an elderly warrior called Ansgar, who had been fighting alongside them since the beginning. One day he told his tale to, of how he had spent his entire life on Midvinter, never taking the time to explore beyond even the mountains. Now here he was, last of his name and fated to die on a battlefield someday soon. It was the beginning of a revelation neither Haldor or Freya would come to realize until near the end of the war. But the warrior’s words had an effect on Haldor, enough so that in the wake of Ansgar’s death he decided to honour the man’s legacy.

By taking on the man’s family name; Falkenrath.

The bloody war ended with the united forces success. But for Haldor and Freya, the time had marked them physically, mentally and emotionally. The two had formed a deep bond fighting side by side over the years, and the hatred they once held for one another had burned away entirely. Surprisingly, their return to their home village was met with celebration despite their status. Though neither cared much for it, as they were already setting plans in motion to depart. Ansgar’s story had made it clear they’d waste their lives away if they remained Midvinter. So the pair left not a single night after their return, setting off on a journey through the mountains and towards the capital. There they were able to secure transport off the world, and out into the galaxy.

Years passed by as they explored everything they could. Learning about the Force and finding more Kro Varians to further develop their elemental shaping. There were many bumps along the way, with Haldor questioning himself on numerous occasions. At times where his life as a warrior was called into question, the violence he was so at ease with and the effect it had on those around him. What if they eventually had children, what would he be seen in the eyes of his own children? A monster? Those questions were what had pushed Haldor to try and turn away from the bloodshed and find something else to devote himself too. But he was no Jedi or Sith, he needed to find something else to follow...
