Haikus - Round Two

"I cannot quite see
Half of that statement," She quipped
"But my point still stands"
Golden eyes watched him
As he skipped and hummed along
"You know this could kill you?"
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

The glasses come off.
"Maybe these will help you see."
He throws them at her.
"Didn't kill me then.
So why would they kill me now?
You worry too much."
[member="Lady Psyona"]

"That doesn't mean it
Won't happen this time." She snapped.
Pale, thin hands grabbed the glasses.
"Yes, I do worry
It's why I am still alive."
She shook her tired head.
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

"Boring's subjective"
Her words came slowly, weighty,
Carefully measured.
"I could make something
Much safer, that wouldn't kill
You when lightning hit."
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

"You don't deny it."
A sound of song in his voice.
He has won this round.
He responds with scoff.
"Safer just wouldn't be fun.
Danger's part the fun."
[member="Lady Psyona"]

"Wouldn't need it now
If not for someone I know.
Wonder who that was."
He points to a cave.
"That was where we found them then.
Might as well check there."
[member="Lady Psyona"]

"Well, in my defense,
Your body wasn't able
To handle it then."
She studied the cave
Stygian depths looming there
Undisturbed for years
"Are you sure about this?"
Her voice carried some concern
"This could kill you, kid."
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

"I was doing fine.
You didn't have to butt in.
That was all on you."
He skipped to the cave.
T'was just like he remembered.
Desolate and cold.
"Must I say again?
I've already made my mind.
I want my pets back."
[member="Lady Psyona"]

"Fair enough," She mused
A fusion lantern held high
Light spilling forward
Creatures crawled around
The golden shelled parasites
Started to fall down
First impacted her
On her shoulder, biting in
the pain like fire
"Bloody kark, Cairyn!"
She reeled back, out of the cave
Her hand shocking it
The thing fell off, dead
She wouldn't let them take her
Not now, not ever.
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

Cairyn followed her.
Almost tripped upon a rock.
"Where are my glasses?"
Wait, he remembered.
Throwing them was a mistake.
"Can I have them back?
Wait, what did I do?
Maybe that guy just likes you.
Look, you made a friend!"
Time to grab a bug.
And let it get on his chest.
Let's this armor.
Geez, this really hurts.
Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.
Instantly regret.
[member="Lady Psyona"]

Somedays, it took all
That Psyona had in her
To not strangle him.
"Here." the Sith muttered,
Passing the spectacles back
To the blind Teevan
"This was your idea.
I'm not getting infected
Just because you are."
She watched, dumbfounded
As he simply put one on
As if it were a patch
"You've done this before.
Why are you surprised it hurts?
You should know by now."
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

"Thanks," the boy replied.
Shoving them back on his face.
He can see again.
"Why not try it out?
They're really friendly, trust me.
And lightsaber proof."
There's a wince in pain.
As he grabs another bug.
To put on his arm.
"Yeah, I've done it once.
Doesn't mean I'm used to it.
It has been a while."
[member="Lady Psyona"]

"There's too much to lose.
Besides, I could make better
Without risking death."
She frowned, golden eyes
Watching the boy add more things
To his thin body.
"And you're still hurting
From the last time you did this
You're falling apart."
Frowning, the Vahla
Simply turned. "How long?" She asked.
Ready to escape.
[member="Cairyn Midore"]

"Sounds like you are scared.
What is better than more friends?
Loads better than books."
He continued on.
Putting Orbalisks on him.
Wincing every time.
"I will be okay.
The pets make it all better
Besides, I've had worse."
And then he laid down.
Letting bugs fill in spaces
Not his hands or head.
