- Songsteel Construction: The use of songsteel allows the weapon to maintain a light weight while also making the weapon nearly impervious to lightsabers.
- Modified Vibro-arbir: Drawing inspiration from Saber Pikes, the blades feature plasma emitters angled to create a lightsaber-esque blade along the edge of the songsteel blade, allowing the weapon increased cutting power.
- Cumbersome: While it can be used to great effect, the Guardian Staff is larger than the average polearm, which is already an unwieldy weapon in its own right. This makes the Guardian Staff difficult to use without proper training.
- Wannabe Lightsaber: The Guardian Staff is not a lightsaber, nor does it posses the cutting power of one. Any material capable of stopping or deflecting a lightsaber blade will be nigh-impervious to the Guardian Staff.
A weapon long used by the Vylmiran Council Guardians, the original creators of the Guardian Staff have long since been lost to the annals of time. After Vylmira's addition to the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the establishment of Vylmira Technological Industries, the staves were produced entirely by VTI, with only minor alterations to their original form.
The Guardian Staff is the signature weapon of the Council Guardians, with each new guardian obtaining his/her own staff. In a ritual ceremony where new guards are appointed, they are bestowed with their capes, and a ribbon called the Guardian's Vow. The ribbon is, as part of the ceremony, marked with a single word, of the guardian's choosing. This word, which the guardian may reveal if they so wish, serves as a reminder to uphold the values of the Council. The ribbon is then affixed to the primary blade of the Guardian's staff, where it remains until their death, unless removed to be cleaned. The Guardian Staff is one half of the mark of a guardian, and it is with great pride that the guardians bear this weapon.
