“You have no idea how widespread our organization is.”

The modern organization known as ‘Guardian’ has morphed over the decades of its existence. In the beginning, Guardian was a small entity derived from disaffected individuals from the intelligence bureaus of the Galactic Alliance and New Imperial Order. At that time, they operated out of isolated blacksites located on the fringe of galactic civilization; conducting clandestine operations on targets of opportunity in a vain attempt to pursue their perception of ‘the greater good’, all while trying to survive sector-wide manhunts.

Today, Guardian has expanded exponentially to multiple different regions of the Galaxy. Their operations are no longer restricted to isolated ‘safe houses’ in major metropolitan areas, but rather are divided into regional ‘cells’ that operate with a high degree of autonomy so as to prevent the likelihood of deep-level penetration of the greater organization. Each cell is structured in a fairly uniform manner, and are typically tasked with specific operations taking place in a given region - whether it be an important city district, ecumenopolis, or an entire sector.

A variety of roles and specializations are present within each cell, and can vary depending on overarching mission parameters and specializations required for a given region. In short, the roles currently known to exist within Guardian are:
  • Agent
  • Operative
  • Cell Handler
  • Sleepers

Members affiliated with Guardian may well have experience in a variety of roles depending on the tenure of their service, and it is quite common within the organization for a member to have the abilities developed across two or even three different roles.

Agents form the bedrock of Guardian operations, and are fairly diverse in both their skillset and application. Traditionally, agents are the first means through which Guardian will reach out to interact with the outside world - whether that means performing clandestine surveillance on a potential target, or investigative work to ease the penetration of a planetary government. Guardian Agents are considered extremely skilled and potent in the art of espionage, with belligerent intelligence organizations viewing them as highly dangerous if discovered within their territory.

Although their main role is understood to be of a more subtle nature, Agents are also extremely well trained in different forms of combat, be they close quarters combat training, or long-range marksmanship. Such tactics are usually the last resort for such agents, and are typically reserved for the preservation of their own survival, or if they are given specific orders to the contrary.

Where Agents are the razor-sharpened scalpel for use in sensitive assignments, Operatives are the full sized blade ready to be plunged into the heart of a waiting foe. Equipped with state of the art equipment, and trained in tactics that transcend any singular nation’s traditional tactics, operatives are deployed when overwhelming force is unavoidable and unequivocally required. They are often deployed in strike teams, and are highly effective in high-level assassinations, HVT exfiltrations, guerilla warfare, and in rare cases - shock and awe operations.

When not on active deployment, Operatives tend to serve within private military corporations, with some units forming ones of their own. This is strategically indispensable to Guardian, as it allows for them to deploy such operatives in false flag operations, which in turn can set events in motion to aid operations taking place across the galaxy. This underscores a distinct ability that nearly all Operatives have, which is to engage in combat operations with a high level of efficiency, while also maintaining Guardian’s ability to leverage the situation into a smear campaign against its rivals.

Cell Handlers are easily among the most insidious and crucial members of Guardian as a whole. As their name suggests, Cell Handlers are senior officers who direct the movements and operations of regional cells throughout the galaxy, and are expected to remain in contact with ‘Central Guardian Command’ through clandestine means. Most Cell Handlers facilitate their responsibilities via positioning themselves in positions of legitimate, legal power amidst the nations of the Galaxy, such as CEOs of major corporations, government officials, or even high level agents within rival intelligence agencies. Cell Handlers have also been known to take part in operations themselves if the need is great, or if their unique abilities are deemed crucial enough to the success of the mission; but such a situation would be exceedingly rare given their value to the organization as a whole.

Star-Wars-The-Force-Unleashed-702x395.jpeg
“Sleeper Agents” (or ‘Sleepers’) are among the most classified members of Guardian, in large part due to the role they fill, the abilities they possess, and the manner in which they are trained and conditioned. Unlike the other roles within Guardian, Sleepers are only comprised of force sensitive individuals, and are subjected to highly experimental/ethically-questionable mental and physical conditioning. They are typically derived from abandoned or otherwise displaced orphans, or individuals who have no prospects in life other than a life of squalor and neglect. Upon being ‘appropriated’ by Guardian, they undergo the aforementioned conditioning in a comprehensive program meant to harness and amplify the latent attunement each person has within the force, and are ‘educated’ (read; indoctrinated) into a state of total compliance and loyalty to their handlers.

Upon successful testing and security trials to ensure complete and total compliance, these elite agents are then trained heavily in the arts of espionage and combat to a degree tailored to match their aptitude and the needs of the greater Guardian Network. As their name suggests, once their training and conditioning regimen is complete, Sleeper Agents are embedded within cells throughout the organization. Some are aware of what they are, others are not. In the case of those who are aware of who and what they are, they are cogent and conscious of what they are doing and who they are doing it for. They possess a high level of autonomy, and are extremely valuable agents given their skill in force-assisted stealth, deception, and combat techniques they lend to the wider group in which they are assigned. These sleepers typically wield lightsabers, or advanced weaponry appropriate to their given assignment, and should be considered extremely dangerous when/if encountered.

Sleeper Agents who have been conditioned to not possess knowledge of who they truly are, are typically embedded in deep cover operations, and are imprinted with a completely different identity and set of memories. The operation could be almost anything; whether it be to integrate themselves in a closed society, or rise up the social ladder of high society to get close to influential individuals. For all intents and purposes, they will live a relatively average life compared to their surroundings until they are ‘triggered’.The trigger could be a word, a phrase, or a series of impulses communicated through the force or some other subtle means of communication. Once such a trigger has been executed and received by the agent, they will subconsciously transition into a state in which they fall back into a ‘programmed’ series of actions ingrained deep within their psyche, which could be anything from assassination of a specific target, sabotage of key infrastructure, or the acquisition and transmission of key intelligence. Despite the moral ambiguity of the Sleeper program, one cannot argue with the effectiveness of its subjects. The long term effects of the regimen however, have yet to be truly ascertained, and are likely quite significant.
