Description:
The GBA is designed to protect standard infantry from threats while not turning them into slow, vulnerable targets. The goal is to provide a lightweight armor capable of resisting small arms fire, shrapnel, and a low resistance to lightsabers - which many battlefield experts have noted as becoming increasingly utilized in combat and a source of high casualties.
- Armorweave makes up the bulk of the material. Pants, boots, and shirt are made of a thick, high quality armorweave fabric, as is the vest. It offers protection against energy based weaponry and can dissipate small arms fire. It offers limited resistance to lightsabers and can stop a glancing blow.
- Duraplast ceramic trauma plates fit inside the armorweave vest in the front, back, and sides.
- Reinforced Duraplast is used for the gauntlets, shoulder pauldrons, knee pauldrons, and helmet. It offers protection against laser cannons, verpine shattergun rounds, medium slug rounds, light grenades, and lightsabers. The protection against lightsabers is such that it will stop two or three hits. The reinforced nature of the helmet renders the HUD electronics and other internal systems resistant to EMP and ion weapons.
- The wide faceplate is made of incredibly thick transparisteel and offers a much broader range of vision than many of the armor's contemporaries.
- Retractble vibroblades are hidden inside both knuckle-plates, much like the Katarn-class armor.
- HUD activated magnetic clamps on the boots and gauntlets enable the wearer to resist heavy winds, or the insistent tug of a Force User.
